RACE 1 RESULTS
RACE 2 RESULTS
SEASON STANDINGS

Race 1 Penalties
Bradc drifted across left to right in front of Dave O and clipped his front corner. As per the guidelines, bradc should have made more of an effort to stay on his side of the track in the first couple of turns, to avoid these side-by-side impacts. This time is a warning only.

Race 2 Penalties
The hairpin was a little messy, but it was just a concertina effect with slow cars in the corner, and no real harm done by any impacts.

After the long race I can't really remember the first race. Racing with Phil for most of it I think and lots of missed gears.

Race two after the busy start was chasing kcender for a lot of the race. Lots of side by side action but couldn't make a pass stick. Shayne caught up and got by and a few laps later I got the place back. Lots more close racing inbetween kcender and Shayne with Phil close behind him, but a late mistake allowed Shayne to get a run on me again and take the place. On the final lap I went just slightly off on the fast first sector and copped a 10 second penalty which was annoying but I guess that means less restrictor next week!

Better than I expected for me.. Somehow knocked 2 seconds off my PB with no racing last week and no practise. Came in and qualified 15th.. but as I have no clutch I am slow off the start. Managed to make positions back as some first lap knocks pushed others off the track and I believe held on with some nice side by side battles with a few drivers, even kcender and his honda engine swap...  as I cringed waiting for a knock or my car to come loose. There were none in the first race, finished either 14th or 15th. Hit the wall coming out of the last turn to give kcender the position i took from him.

Second race put me in 16th place on the grid and dropping back off the start, made my way back to about 14th but dropped back with a few cars losing control in front of me I had nowhere to go so 20.5 laps with a damaged front bumper and by 13th lap tyres were starting to show their wear.. Finished in 17th.

Congrats to the winners.

Managed to have a better evening than expected. Ended up with two races of great side by side racing with Mael.

I owe an apology to RussG, we had a very small trade paint but then I overcooked the spike slightly; tapped into Rolz (I think) who ended up spinning Russ off. Was so dirty at causing it. I ended up with a damaged front (and rear courtesy of a kiss coming off the bank onto the start/finish straight) which slowed my top speed down considerably on the back straights.

The last half third of the race was 'interesting' and i think can be summed up as follows: flat out with damaged aeros means slower on straights. can hold good pace through the twisty bits, all the while having a  car that's lighter and tailier as the rears were flogging out.

Needless to say, it was great! And I'm looking forward to the season ahead  ;)

Race 1 was just keeping it clean after the busy opening laps. I was chasing Slow_As from about 2 seconds back for most of the race, then with one lap to go, he inexplicably pulled into pits. Out of fuel maybe?

In race 2, I was trying to keep the car pretty straight and not slide too much to preserve the tyres, which may or may not have been necessary in hindsight. It meant I had to be a little more conservative in some corners, where I was defending from ab156 and Mael. AB had me under quite a bit of pressure, but I just tried to keep it clean and hold my line. I had a long chase of GymHippo, starting to get the draft down the straight and putting the nose inside on the final banked turn, but not being able to pull off the pass for several laps. Finally I managed to carry enough speed on the inside line and came out in front, finishing in a nice 5th behind the consistent Doobs.

Well I knew after last weeks test session that I should be on for a decent result.
R1 Grabbed RussG off the line then managed to get by Doobs about half way round the first lap.  From there Rolz was well out in front
and I couldn't really make a dent so focused on holding the spot to the end which worked out well for 2nd.
R2 Managed to hold out RussG again off the start but I think on the 2nd lap Rolz had a spin and we slipped by.  From there I was able to get past Doobs.
I managed to get around a 5 second lead and just focused on keeping it clean as I was very keen to grab some good points.  Things went well until around the last 4 laps
when Rolz started catching.  I think with the pressure in the final laps I started getting a bit over cautious and allowed him to get right onto the rear of me as we entered the final
turn but i was able to hold on for the win.
Most consistent in both races . . wooo hooo!
Big points boost for Maki Engineering and might just be able to justify the big bucks they're paying me . . . . lets not mention the small restrictor!

Lots of practice for this one so I was hoping for a top ten qualifying position.
I managed to pull out a good lap and manged second. I was pretty happy with that.

Race 1: I got away well with Rolz at the start with Freezer on my bumper. There were two corners where I had trouble and could never seem to get consistently right, the right hander up the hill before the hairpin and the hairpin itself. My entry speed was a little down to try and get good exits, and it let Freezer get onto the back of my and past. I couldn't catch Rolz, but thought I might be able to get back past Freezer........I couldn't catch him. :)
Russ G kept me honest for the rest of the race and I drove consistently for third.

Race 2: Got away well with Rolz again but had to slot in behind him. I chased him for a while and the heavy fuel load saw him have a it of an off through the esses and I find myself in the lead. I nearly had a heart attack I was that excited. It didn't last and Freezers consistent pace had him past me again.
I thought at that stage that I should be able to hang on for third because I saw Rolz was back on track and 2-3 tenths faster......then my mind started wandering and I completely lost concentration for half a lap or so, and lost it in the esses. That lost me a heap of time and two positions, so I ended up in fourth. I started driving consistently again, but couldn't bridge the gap back to Diehard.

I had a really good night but for the lapse in concentration.

Great to get out for a race with XGN gang again!  ;D

I really do love this car! I think the high restrictor on this track was tough... was lucky to be on 50%.  Serious kudos to Phil.8 and Kcender87 for getting times they did with that much on their cars.

R1 - kept it clean and was happy with performance
R2 - tires not up to temp on start of lap 2 and the extra fuel load I stuffed up entrance to snaky straight... stopped from spinning but lost places

I think the neighbourhood heard me curse

I then sadly bumped into RussG but as stated it was shunt I got from behind...

Had fun chasing Doobs and Freezer, maybe one more lap and I might have had Freezer... well deserved win there :)

Never raced next weeks track so will need some serious practice in with the high restrictor :)

Thanks again!

Yes, we always have the worst round dropped, in case someone misses a round.

I now know I can't put in the full night's racing and can only manage the sprint. That being said, If a spot is needed I am happy to give up my spot.

Well I couldn't put in a PB for qual, but with a good start and watching well forward moved up from 20th spot to 14th and believed I was in for a full fight for all the race.  A small incident at the hairpin let a couple slip but my mistake running through the esses I floated through in 5th, subsequently lost the back nearing the righthander... that's okay, a bit of sand, but taking the direct line across the outside "bitumen" I found it was a "tar pit", man the escort just pulled through the "glue", which turned to oil when I hit the track! GRRRR
This gave Rob and I our usual opportunity to swap places and have a ding dong battle to line.
Rob i noticed on the replay, both of us had a shaking bonnet and some suspension problems, must added to the fun.

Aww my last lap cut cost me 4 places. Bring on the 61% restrictor though! Enjoy your 100% rolz  ;D

Hey GH, Don't sweat it man. I'm sure we have all tagged someone sometime.  From the replay it's obviously one of those things that just catches you out. Rolz had just had a bit of an off going down the wiggly bit and I managed to sneak past him into 3rd, then approaching the hairpin he was close so I was on the defensive. This likely made me slower into the hairpin and Rolz had to slow more as well. The rest is racing :) I think I made some comment at the time, but you probably understand that was just the disappointment of having just taking 3rd, then turned around and having to sit in the middle of the track until all cars had passed and rejoin a distant last. I was pretty happy to recover to 14th (dropped to 15th with cut penalty) after that.

Qually went well. I was really chuffed to be 3rd with the 53% restrictor.
R1: Freezer had more pace off the line and I couldn't hold him out. He passed Doobs as well. I felt like Doobs was holding me back for the first couple of laps, but then he got his rhythm and we were matching times for the rest of the race. I gave it everything but couldn't close the gap.

R2: I think the top 4 start positions were identical to qually? Similar start to race 1 with Freezer getting the jump, then the incident mentioned above. After that I got involved in some nice battles as I tried to recover. A highlight was to pass both  Shameless and bradc at the hairpin when they both went a bit wide. Then I tried really hard to pass Slow_As towards the end of the race as I had picked up a 10 sec cut track penalty and bradc was 10 sec behind. Slow_As was up to the task and I din't make the pass and dropped the place to bradc after the penalty.

Disappointed with race 2, but all in all some great racing had :D
Love this car ;D
