It does seem though, that the BMW's are a little too outclassed. I probably will ditch them from the mix. Also, because car selection should be based on speed and not other factors like racecraft, what I think I'll do is assign a separate leaderboard sorted by fastest race laps as well, not for points but just to assign cars. I.e. You get points 24 down to 1 in order of lap times, and then the leader of that gets the slowest car etc. Logged “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time” Glen73 Administrator Full Member Posts: 898 Karma: 32 Re: Personal testing for Season 3 at Silverstone International « Reply #31 on: August 22, 2014, 09:14:35 AM » Quote from: Wally on August 22, 2014, 08:59:18 AMIt was fun last night, in a bit of muck around racing, with a mix of cars with different strengths and weaknesses. You should take more holidays with ideas like these. I might actually get a podium... There. I said it.I think we will all 'hate' whatever we end up in compared to the nimble, light, fast Abarths. These street cars all take far too long to brake and sure dont like turning at speed.Should make for some tight racing. And a fair bit of wrecking from me as I get used to racing bumper to bumper with people.EDIT: Can we get a 'State of Origin' Tally going or something as well? Just to give Wally something else to do.Clearly Cramjet and myself are the most handsome here. But that might not equal race speed. « Last Edit: August 22, 2014, 09:27:50 AM by Dick Forrest » Logged Bruce Global Moderator Hero Member Posts: 3440 Karma: 76 "Look out, I'm comin' through!" Looking at the times, I think i should have applied "sand bagging" Looking forward to Tuesdays with this mix of cars and a chance to have some close racing. Cheers Wally. The program exists (somewhere) I can probably dig it up and chuck it on a server, it requires configuration otherwise it should do it...Quote from: Dick Forrest on August 22, 2014, 09:25:55 AMI think we will all 'hate' whatever we end up in compared to the nimble, light, fast Abarths. If you scrap the standard and add either the 1m or e92 standard it will spice it up a bit as they are fairly quick in a straight line but not as nimbke as any of the lotuses. At a bigger track though such as monza I think any of the slower cars will really struggle but if you add a tight circuit like Aosta it wouod be very close in just about all these cars. Especially if you go by qualy at Monza race 1 for an example.1 Guybrush Threepwood [Achilles Heels] 1:51:488 82 Marty [Achilles Heels] 1:51:868 93 Ysu [TKO Racing] 1:53:172 84 StanDaam [XGN] 1:53:427 65 Glen73 [Projekt Rennesport] 1:53:428 66 Wally [TKO Racing] 1:53:546 97 Freezer [XGN] 1:53:658 58 Rob [Team MRT] 1:53:802 79 Rolz [XGN] 1:53:877 510 Bacchulum [Aleph Null Ltd] 1:53:911 611 cramjet [CramDick Racing] 1:54:188 512 Vipergod [Team MRT] 1:54:274 813 Gratulin [XGN] 1:54:416 914 GWyar [XGN] 1:54:677 715 Crimespree [XGN] 1:55:393 416 Grubbet [XGN] 1:55:778 717 Insomniac [XGN] 1:56:016 418 Dave O [XGN] 1:56:116 619 Imperious [XGN] 1:58:509 520 Dick Forrest [CramDick Racing] 3:09:932 4Here is qualy race 1 at MugelloPos Driver Best Lap Time Best Lap Num1 Guybrush Threepwood [Achilles Heels] 1:44:254 92 Marty [Achilles Heels] 1:45:141 113 Wally [TKO Racing] 1:45:828 84 Rob [Team MRT] 1:45:946 75 StanDaam [XGN] 1:46:035 76 Bacchulum [Aleph Null Ltd] 1:46:181 77 Ysu [TKO Racing] 1:46:455 88 cramjet [CramDick Racing] 1:46:644 69 Rolz [XGN] 1:46:807 810 Insomniac [XGN] 1:46:962 611 Freezer [XGN] 1:46:974 712 Glen73 [Projekt Rennesport] 1:47:080 713 Gratulin [XGN] 1:47:095 414 Dave O [XGN] 1:48:411 415 Vipergod [Team MRT] 1:48:524 716 Imperious [XGN] 1:48:614 417 Crimespree [XGN] 1:48:832 418 GWyar [XGN] 1:48:929 419 Dick Forrest [CramDick Racing] 1:50:684 3Here is Imola race 1 qualyPos Driver Best Lap Time Best Lap Num1 Marty [Achilles Heels] 1:44:486 92 Mopz [Team CTR] 1:45:109 63 Freezer [XGN] 1:45:711 74 Rob [Team MRT] 1:45:952 45 Bacchulum [Aleph Null Ltd] 1:46:006 76 Rolz [XGN] 1:46:435 47 Gratulin [XGN] 1:46:502 88 Wally [TKO Racing] 1:46:505 89 Insomniac [XGN] 1:46:961 310 Grubbet [XGN] 1:47:288 511 Crimespree [XGN] 1:47:569 512 BJSRacer [Projekt Rennesport] 1:47:590 713 cramjet [CramDick Racing] 1:47:646 614 Glen73 [Projekt Rennesport] 1:47:712 415 G0RGAK [Achilles Heels] 1:47:882 716 Vipergod [Team MRT] 1:48:050 417 Dave O [XGN] 1:49:050 318 GWyar [XGN] 1:49:278 419 Imperious [XGN] 1:49:349 620 Dick Forrest [CramDick Racing] 9:44:219 121 Ysu [TKO Racing] NO TIME And Silverstone race 1 qualyPos Driver Best Lap Time Best Lap Num1 Guybrush Threepwood [Achilles Heels] 2:00:089 82 Marty [Achilles Heels] 2:01:632 73 Ysu [TKO Racing] 2:02:181 74 Wally [TKO Racing] 2:02:689 85 Gratulin [XGN] 2:02:690 96 BJSRacer [Projekt Rennesport] 2:02:959 77 Glen73 [Projekt Rennesport] 2:02:983 68 Bacchulum [Aleph Null Ltd] 2:03:129 69 cramjet [CramDick Racing] 2:03:652 210 Rob [Team MRT] 2:03:701 411 Phil [Team CTR] 2:03:808 212 Freezer [XGN] 2:03:845 613 Rolz [XGN] 2:04:094 614 Vipergod [Team MRT] 2:04:114 715 Crimespree [XGN] 2:04:537 616 Insomniac [XGN] 2:04:684 517 Dick Forrest [CramDick Racing] 2:04:757 318 GWyar [XGN] 2:05:396 719 Dave O [XGN] 2:06:044 320 Grubbet [XGN] 2:06:852 321 Imperious [XGN] 2:11:150 5Having the 1 z4s1 can be ok for the quickest guys, then the 3 lotus elise versions are all quite similar with less then .5s between the standard and s3 I think and they are just a bit quicker then the z4 s1 as they handle much better but similar speeds. If you have 3 of them and the z4 that makes the 8 fastest guys in the much slower cars but looking at lap time spreeds it will be more of a disadvantage to the guys in 7th and 8th I think if they also have the slower lotus. These guys are generally running a pace close to most of the midfield so adding more midfield level cars I think would be better for them rather then having 8 slow cars. « Last Edit: August 22, 2014, 11:51:39 AM by marty » Logged Dick Forrest Hero Member Posts: 1309 Karma: 17 Contains traces of nuts! I generally won't even go out on the track for second race qualifying. I also try to avoid 'going for it' in race one. From my point of view ( and I stress only talking about my own position ) I am very happy with how the races are panning out ie I don't need/want any handicapping help. By this I don't mean that I am against what is planned with the cars etc. I am just trying to say that as a driver in the middle-to-back of the pack I am happy with the racing as it is so don't worry about getting my part of the field too accurate. I'm having a great deal of fun. Even coming last. My ambitions are quite low at this stage. Things like keeping it on the black stuff all race and finishing on the lead lap are enough to keep me satisfied as far as improvement goes.so far all my race postions have been given to me by other peoples mistakes. Bar one fantastic dive-in I did in front of Gratulin in the DTM at Silverstone. Which I still am chuffed about.Last night in one of the test runs I was almost un-catchable. Felt like Darren Marsh... ok maybe Guybrush...There are a lot of fast guys here. But a few of those fast guys make mistakes each week. Mr Vipergod alas seems to be very good at this He's fast but it seems every week I'll pass him at some stage as he goes off on one of his 4wd sessions. Insommniac also doesn't mind messing up his race. Please, keep those mistakes coming! Still challenging in its own way trying to go as fast as I could without a massive mistake and keep soke pressure on guy. But in the end I got half a nose on the inside of him earlyin race 1 and thats as close as I got to any car over the 24 laps there. Lookijg at the results quite often the top 4 or 5 dont have much of a battle and ive had some great fun when needing to fight my way back through the pack.If we can get it so the average lap pace brings the quicker guys back into the mid pack then should be for some more fun racing. Also having a varied grid with cars having dofferent strengths and weaknesses should be quite fun. Still the quicker guys will be more consistant in the slower cars soguys that have a car advantage will still need to avoid making mistakes if they want to finish ahead. Wr times here have the Elises in the low 1:16s and this way the 6 fastest would have similar cars that are slow but have some hope against the quicker ones in the corners. The Z4's if guys ahead get closer to their potential will make it impossible to really compete in these little beamers I think.
