WRX sandown sprint day 12/04/14
« on: April 15, 2014, 07:17:45 PM »
I did my first track day in the WRX, I recorded the second session on video. First session I did a 1:41, second two session a pair of 1:38's and third session a 1:36, my times were going in the right direction.

My main point of of showing this video is I am amazed at we have at our disposals at club level by using our phones. high speed BT GPS and OBD's to log data. Next I will be getting a OBD to plug into the car which I can Wifi all onboard data to my phone. This will complement the GPS data that you will see in the video.  I made some damper adjustments for the second session adding a lot of stiffness to the rear which settle the car down a bit. I was still 2 seconds off the seasoned drivers in my class being street stock. Classes are determined by a point system depending on mods done to the car.

Anyway there is nothing to exciting about the video, it really is to show you how club racing can be fun with all the available data at your finger tips.

Nice!

Very smooth looking. In car footage always seems a lot more violent than that looked.

If you get your bike back out on the track again I can come out and video and data log it for you. I maybe even able to get the lean angle. Be interesting to see. Same for you Humper with your Gtr  ;D ;D ;D if that makes it onto the track.

Further to our convo tonight Humper....

http://www.racechrono.com/ <------- lap timer, average speed, splits etc....... for your phone

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android.btgps   <-------- blue tooth GPS for your phone as well. Once you have your GPS blue toothed you will be able to see how many sats it is picking up within the app.

As I said tonight you can use racechrono using your phone inbuilt gps but all phones have slow gps unit.
