Season 19 will be a two class season loosely based on the FIA World Endurance Cup.
Cars
LMP1 Class
Audi R18 e-tron quattro 2014
Toyota TS040 Hybrid 2014
Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 (with 75% restrictor for parity)
GT3 Class
Audi R8 LMS 2016
BMW Z4 GT3
Ferrari 488 GT3
Lamborghini Huracan GT3
Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3
Nissan GT-R GT3
Schedule
The season will probably start Oct 17.
R1, Oct 17: Silverstone GP
R2, Oct 24: Spa
R3, Oct 31: Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans) [DOWNLOAD (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/circuit-de-la-sarthe-24-hours-of-lemans.2482/)]
R4, Nov 7: Nurburgring GP (Formula)
R5, Nov 14: Paul Ricard Blancpain [DOWNLOAD (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/paul-ricard.6115/)]
R6, Nov 21: Shanghai [DOWNLOAD (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XkwbGUrD1gTy-hNXReFobcnde-Ic8w6y)]
R7, Nov 28: Bahrain [DOWNLOAD (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iKsS7dmPGNOmtvuBR275rmWQr4qtOK7m)]
Race Format
Races will be 1 hour duration + 1 lap, with 1 CPS for a mandatory tyre change. The CPS is required as some cars can go more than an hour on a full tank, while others can't. This way, each car will have to pit at least once.
Tyre warmers will be ON. No restrictions on tyres. Fuel and tyre wear multipliers are 1x.
Race start will be a rolling start (where we will proceed around the track single file and then grid up side by side in rolling formation onto the final straight). The LMP1 class should stay in 2nd gear on the formation lap to maintain a consistent speed. Once the leader passes the start line, he can go.
Classes
Changing classes is discouraged, however if you must, you can, but you don't carry over points from one class to the other.
Points
As per FIA WEC, for each class: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 2, 1 then 0.5 for everyone else who classifies as a finisher (attains 70% race distance).
1 point for pole position in each class.
Penalties
50% restrictor applied for next round for causing lap 1 grief (or 10 second post-race 1 penalty in the final round).

Hi all,
flying back to Sydney today with my repaired wheel base hopefully waiting for me there. I am in for the season, although I have not thought much about which class I'd like to be in...
-
Me too please, undecided, thinking I'll join least popular class just to make up numbers (if needed)

Welcome back Grat.
-
Yes please, will choose a car later
-
I'll be Team Maki Engineering's representative in the LMP class, either the Toyota or Porsche depending on which is the lesser popular one.
-
I'll probably choose a class to balance numbers too, but I'm leaning towards LMP1.
-
GT3 for me please Wally
-
Please throw me in LMP1 Wally. :)
-
GT3 please Wally
-
Can I join you on the GT3's?
How about the actual cars, can we choose?
Cheers

Of course :)
Yes, you will eventually have to nominate an actual car. People just haven't made their minds up yet.
-
Count me in too please Wally!
Class yet to be determined
-
I'm in . . Possibly gt3 with Mael running lmp1.
Away for a week so will get testing on return.
-
In thanks Wally. GT3 please ;)

I'm in please. Unsure what car yet as not tried any.

Welcome rexology. I sent you a PM with some details of what you have to send me. Thanks.

I'm in thanks.
Car TBC
-
I'm in but just trying to decide which car to run. Pretty keen to run in the prototypes though
-
I've decided on a car, Wally.
The Toyota has the best sounding engine, the most unobstructed view and doesn't need pit stops.
So I'm going with the Porsche. 8)
First and foremost because the Toyota SQUEAKS! >:(
Secondly, I think I'll need a pit stop so I might as well have a car that needs one too. ::)

As discussed on the other thread, I'm going to make the pit stop compulsory (as originally stated), to make it fair that all cars have to pit.

Wally, I said LMP1 previously, but am happy to move go GT3 if you feel there are too many going with LMP1.

No need... there's still a bunch of undecideds and people might still change their minds after some practice races. We'll see how the final numbers pan out.
-
After a practice race I'm going to have to change my choice. The rapid LMP cars plays havoc with my poor internet connection so I'll revert to the slower GT3 class. Only the ultimate driving machine is good enough for me so one of the BMW please Wally.

You have captured perfectly why I will drive a GT3 car:
“The rapid LMP cars play havoc with my poor old reflexes so I'll go for the slower GT3”
-
The BMW Z4 GT3 for me please.

Que? :o
What do you mean plays havoc with your internet connection? It shouldn't make any difference.
Anyway, change noted.

I very often get "micro-lags" which causes cars around me to jump around by a meter to so. Unfortunately with the faster cars the distance cars jump around feels bigger increasing the risk that I'm going to bump somebody offtrack by accident. It may also be my imagination :o
-
Hi Wally I think I'll take the Z4 GT3 as well if you don't mind.
-
Well I've changed my mind again Wally. Put me back in the Toyota 8)
-

Meh. Guess I'll have to get used to getting cut up then ;D
-
A couple of changes after the practice races:
- Tyre warmers will be ON (so that tyres don't get too cold on the formation lap).
- The LMP1 class should stay in 2nd gear on the formation lap to maintain a consistent speed. Once the leader passes the start line, he can go.
I also decided a little while back that fairness, all cars will have to do a mandatory pit stop where tyres must be changed.
-
I am not sure I understand the tyre warmers. Tyres were not getting too cold, but rather they were not getting to optimal temperature. At those speeds we will have to waive as much just to keep them in temperature. So I do not see much benefit, while I see less tyre preparation challenge for quali.
Anyway, if you feel like it is best, then good.
As for the gear: can't we just agree on a speed? There are issues with charge consumption and rears slip in 2nd gear that may benefit a car over another. It seems easier to just say "keep it under 100kph and keep an eye on the map"...

I reckon if we start from 80 with tyre warmers, and tyres slowly cool a bit over the lap, we'll start off with a closer to optimal temperature than starting from cold. There should be less need for weaving (which is always a bit dangerous, and it's also questionable how much that actually helps heat the tyre).
2nd gear is like a defacto pit limiter. Like Bachuluum said, you don't have to bang it on the rev limiter, just cruise at close to redline. Even when we say "Keep it to 100", with the best of intentions cars still speed up over that. In 2nd gear, you won't be able to exceed some speed (which was a bit over 100, from memory).
-
Especially as all these cars have traction control, isn't a standing start more simple (sic)?
I'm trying to emulate the real WEC series.
-
sign me up to LMP1 class - still undecided between the Audi and the 'yota

Hi Wally,
I'm out of this season. I broke my wrist today, I broke it good so I wont be driving for a while.

Not intending to throw a spanner in the works. If the main issue is the fuel usage in the LMP cars, moving the fuel usage to 2x will enforce a stop and retain the consumption advantage/disadvantage. This may work as long as the GT3 cars usage is pretty equal.
-
Sorry fuel usage of 1.5 is probably more appropriate
-
I don't think any fuel multiplier is going to work out very well, from my testing. The Porsche is more fuel hungry than the other two, and you being it close to needing two stops while the others still need one.
-
Had a quick test in each lmp1, I think I'll go with the porsche, if you prefer that I go gt3 then I pick the amg. Keep in mind I can only do every second round because of work, thanks
-
Ouch, hope it heals quickly!
How about driving one handed, auto gearbox?
I thought about doing that Mael but only just drive well enough with two hands. :)
Hope it heals well, May I ask how it happened ?
Thanks Phil, I started another thread to answer because I think there is some comedy in it. :)
Cheers

I'm keen to get back into something after my hiatus.
I'm not sure which car I will choose as it has a long time between drinks with these ones...
If you need bums in seats for a particular class/car throw me in and I'll figure it out, otherwise, I'll get back to you :)
-
GT3 for me I will let you know what car in the coming days
-
OK, got it all up to here. Thanks.
-
Looking at the roll call it appears ill need to pick lmp1.
I think I'll take a porsche. I couldnt gel well with the audi for whatever reason. Toyo was ok but pirsxhe felt better
-
I think I will try the Nissan please.
in the middle of fixing my peedle pots at the mo..

Seems like Audi numbers are lacking in LMP1. I'll jump in one so your not the lone Ranger Wally.

I was starting to worry if I'd made a bad or flawed choice there...

Since skins are limited, to mix it up ill run the 28 Toyota from this skin pack if we are running skins :)

Quick Question: As we are running classes this season, are we still running as teams or individual?
(Just thinking about skins)

Yes, we'll still have teams, but it only makes sense if the two team members are in the same class.

I purposefully chose a different class than Freezer to maximize the amount of points we could score!

(due to car choices and wrist's)
Aleph0 will be represented by Seanus and myself, in the LMP1's
Infinty+1 will be Gratulin and Shayne. ;)

Hi Wally: of course your seat on DA Racing is always open ;)
-
Okey dokey. I might invent some teams later for people who are in the same car.

Any chance of Spa on the practice server? I need some training!

Wally: should let you know that I will surely miss the Nov. 7 and Nov. 28 races as I will be away in both cases. I should be able to be here for the Oct. 31 one, but the Nov. 21 is 50/50 at best.
Sorry for the mess. I thought it was better to let you know in case somebody needs a spot.

Hi Aaron and welcome. You're all set and good to go. See you at Le Mans!
-
For all the new-drivers.
You going to need some patience as this is a terrible season to make you debut in. You may very likely end up hot-lapping for an hour without any company. ??? But stick with it, we should be close to doing a sprint/reverse grid season, Nothing is more fun than blocking Aliens ;D
-
Nah, the race graphs show the GT3s in particular stay pretty close over the hour. The LMP1s spread out more.
