Assetto Corsa Sounds
« on: May 16, 2016, 01:47:19 PM »
How hard is it to take sounds from one car and use them in another car ?
I want to take the sound file from the Sierra RS 5000 and use them in an Escort Turbo because the
Escort sounds are crap.

sorry late reply, i haven't done this but...

assuming your using window's explorer:

open an explorer window #1:
go to the car directory that you want the sound upgraded   ../content/cars/hate_the_sound_car
copy the "sfx" directory
paste   ( this will create a copy in the directory, named something like : "copy_sfx" directory

open another explorer window #2:
goto the car directory that you like the sound from ../content/cars/LOVE_the_sound_car
copy the "sfx" directory
go back to explorer window #1
paste (replacing the crappy sound "sfx" directory )

try and enjoy!   (remember if it goes pear shaped, you have the "copy of the original" to fall back on)

if you want DOS command line, yell out. :)

Thanks Bruce, I previously had only copied the .bank file across (did not think of copying the complete sfx file )
It now sort of works but the sound is not
exactly that of the car it came from, but is better overall. I think there is a lot more to the sounds than I know.

yes, I expect cars will have  one or more unique "sounds"... and may cause 'holes" :(
probably if (probably "when"), you do an integrity check of your installation or now with an upgrade, the sounds may revert to default.
