It will definitely be behind at T1 I think soshould be interesting to try and come through in 9 laps.Yeah, my lap times were quite a bit faster than Phil's. The Mustangs get off the line a lot better than the Fiats so Phil got in front and I just couldn't pass him...got alongside him, but then his exit speed/acceleration just didn't give me a chance of passing him.Overtaking early on the lap is very hard as you just need some time to close the gap after the long straight...it's screwed. Maybe you'll do better against them, but I'm thinking going for the Mustang. My starts in the Fiat are just pathetic. No way I'll keep the Mustang on track, and I'm pretty sure the Abarth's are going to struggle to make a pass despite being faster on the twisty bits. It's a pity it's so hard to find relatively close performing cars with their own strengths and weaknesses. Eventually I'd given up and gone with the Nissan I know as no matter what I try the race isn't long enough to be quick in Z4 and I can't find my boat licence so that rules out the Mustang. And yes, only to be often re passed down the straight. But overall despite a few moments, I was able to pick my way up through the field in each race and throwingit up in the inside, around the outside, pretty much anywhere . . . was heaps of fun! With Wally's blow up in r1 I did think I was on for the third step for the season but appears we drop a round so I hadn't allowed for that All up a good season! Race 2, I started at the rear, got too close to AbleArcher in his Mustang and DaveO's Abarth, and spun. I also went on to spin by myself too, just losing the rear in slow corners, which I settled down with 1 click of rear wing in race 3.Race 3, I was again near the back of the field, and we ended up having a great fun battle with AbleArcher (Mustang), DaveO (Abarth), Rob (Alfa), Russ (Abarth) and Jamie (BMW). You can imagine the tussles round the back of the track with that mix, only to have the faster cars leave the Abarths behind on the straight, time and time. Knowing the boat-like nature of the Mustangs, I wasn't going to push too hard for a tight pass, but instead tried to keep the pressure on and hold my own nerve, hoping to force a mistake. I eventually managed to break free of that pack after people did make some mistakes, and then was able to drive fast on clear track, almost managing to catch up to Brad at the finish. (jump start, early downshift, spin, another downshift - done it all)I don't think I'm calibrated for 3 races after a busy day. I'm getting too tired. In fact I've qualified with the setup in 'safe' mode as well, bugger (forgot to take the TC off). Congrats, Phil, great driving mate! « Last Edit: April 17, 2019, 08:52:19 AM by Bird » Logged Mael RestrictedRacing Hero Member Posts: 1045 Karma: 21 Re: S27R7: Mugello Race Chat « Reply #29 on: April 17, 2019, 10:08:37 AM » Quite satisfied with the round. All three races followed the same pattern, Bacchulum's alfa speed of the line gave a bit of an unwelcome surprise with him leading after turn one followed by 9 qualifying laps to try and keep up with him. Somehow the Alfa appeared to handle the cold tires better on the first lap, Bacchulun used it well to create a gap which he beautifully managed for the rest of the races. Of course the races was made easier by Joe's capitulation in race 1 Phil's boat seemed to run out of puff the last few laps of each race which left me with three second places, not bad for the Datsun.
