 :) ;)

For those wondering, the Pontiac is 70mm narrower at the front and 10mm wider at the rear, other than that and sounds, and graphics of course, the cars are identical.
Track changes do affect roll centre height so even those small values can be responsible for a very different car.

The only Beetle I'm planing to do is a Brazilian example with a VW body draped over a GT40 chassis and running gear.  ;)

Thread Hi-Jack for the win!

What about this Porsche would keep Bacchulum happy?

Assetto Corsa / Physics vs Telemetry
« on: January 11, 2020, 10:54:27 PM »
Load any car into a perfectly flat track, there are several test tracks available with this.
Enable DEV apps and open Telemetry and select the 'Load kg' preset.
Default set up should see the loads equal left to right, now change setup by raising the right side spring rates and ride heights and do the opposite to the left side.
The expected result should be that the left side loads should now be higher than the right but, in my limited testing the left rear load increases but the Bloody opposite happens at the front, this is physically impossible no?

(Noticed this when I looked at my Buick and Pontiac and even on a symmetrical setup the loads aren't symmetrical.)

Further, I already know the telemetry for the wings can not be relied on, however the physics seem to work.
I gave a car 100 units of downforce over the rear axle and 100 units of lift some 10 metres infront of the front axle. The resulting vector should be many units of lift at some point infront of the front axle and this is reflected when driving the car as it eventually flips over backwards.
But the Telemetry reads 0 kg of downforce, it seems to have taken the +100 units and the -100 units and just cancelled each other out. IIRC it also says this 0 kg of force is acting some 1000000000000% forward of the front axle.

Non mandatory update to the track. Made the collision walls vertical, which usually fixes the odd behaviour AC has with banked track and walls.

Can't find this yellow object Roo. Best guess is it's an artifact between shadows and grooves.

With the grid spots being almost impossible to setup on an oval in AC, I propose that when we go to the grid, we land pretty hard and face up the track at 45 degrees, this is to stop the AI spinning out at the start, that as soon as we can grab a gear we should take off, with care remembering how hard it is to start on an oval, drive around through the pits, getting rid of the penalty, and then form up for a rolling start. Slightly quicker this way and I'm a little worried the rough spawn at the start may actually damage a car.

Remember, each driver gets one caution each per race, call out nice and loud and repeatedly on Discord (or map a quick chat button). Nominally the last person will call the green flag whenever they are ready, at any point on the track.

Call (or quickchat) 'Green, Green, Green', loudly and the caller can not overtake in the nearest corner to their call. (let's say ovals only have two corners OK)
Call '1, 2, 3, Green, Green, Green' if you like, six half dozens.

May I suggest Silverstone 67 for next weeks fun run, might be better suited to these cars.

Which layout? It has three!  ;) ;) ;)
