Assetto Corsa / Overclocking
« on: January 10, 2018, 02:11:23 PM »
Grat got me thinking about overclocking.
I have a gigabyte z170x gaming 6 and a unlocked 6700 cpu, in the bios in easy mode there is a way to overclock by picking performance over normal or eco,  this give me 4.3 ghz at 1.272 volts and about at idle 23 degrees core temps , 30 package temps and 27 on the corsair cooler temps.

I am sure this is not this is not the best way to OC and I have no experience with these newer cpus, Last time I overclocked it was a like a i7 940 and before that years and years ago old amd processors and I think the process is easier these days, I am just not sure where to start.

Do I just leave in performance mode  or go back to normal and boost the multiplier or use the cpu upgrade overclock setting or performance upgrade option with five different presets  of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%

I guess I am asking if anyone with OC experience can tell me the best easiest process :)

I have been having really slow fixed wireless internet of an evening lately, start the day at around 47/17 (used to get this speed all day and night) and down to 3/5 of an evening.
Its taken me at least 20 phone calls and weeks to get them to say yes my tower may be congested. The problem is they will not ask for it to be upgraded because apparently if you can make a speed of 25/5 just once in a 24 hour period your internet if fine according to nbn.co.  It has to be a flawed project if a place 20min from Tasmania capital has to have fixed wireless. By the time its finished, well before its even finished its obsolete :(

I am just doing a public announcement letting everyone know that if your are on adsl2 stay on it as long as possible, the nbn is turning into a very bad joke. We are probably going to have to move house over this, 2 daughters, one starting uni the other does nothing but watches nettflix, makes the internet nearly impossible for anyone else, I have had to ask no one else to use it on a Tuesday and Thursday now :(

Public service rant over :)

Thursday Nights fun racing / Flattops Thursday - Fun Run - 28/12/2017

Thought we might have another fun run in the new alfa stradale.

The fake wet layout sounds interesting, but not going to use it this time.

Goodwood Motor Circuit mod is created using LiDAR data. No guesswork involved.

When I found LiDAR data of Chichester (thanks to our forum community), I have decided that existing old Goodwood circuit mod can go to pension. I feel like my version is significantly better already. Take Goodwood Revival or Members Meeting spirit some pre 70s cars and have fun.

 What is LiDAR ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidar

Don't be surprised that track is rather bumpy, it has many undulations, it is far from flat. Most cars feels very good, however few cars might feel not perfectly suited for this type of track and those are the ones which never raced in Goodwood.

Fake Wet layout is included for wet track placebo, don't be surprised that it is so slippery, 1"50 is a fast laptime at Goodwood when it is wet. Use alternative lines to get more grip, optimum lines has less grip. Pretty much first time in simracing when you'll have to search for grip in circuit :)

Thursday Nights fun racing / Next Season - Shelby Cobra of course !

Next season will be brought to you by FLATTOP Racing
(inspired by one Lemmy Caution)

>>>>The Cobra the whole Cobra and nothing but the Cobra <<<<

This post is to start putting down ideas for tracks

Also I am not as talented at making a post that looks anywhere near as good as Bruce could for the Thursday seasons.
So if anyone wants to write up a fancy post for future seasons don't be afraid to put your hand up.

Here's a quote from Thursday Night's Season 1; Round 1 Post race chat

Enjoyed the racing last night, I wished I hadn't got caught up in the couple of accidents, but did enjoy the car, plenty of value.

Night 1 with 12 racers fronting up made a nice size field for the inaugural Thursday Nights' Fun Runs.  The Shelby Cup has some points assigned to it, (Ionly need to get the results!, I have one screenshot only and have no logs. Next week's upgrade). So who ever can provide the places I would appreciate it...

I know, I know, I can hear it already...  ;D

Pre race one, with 3 minutes to go I do a radical change to the setup, not the worst thing concidering I also drained the tank to try for abetter time...
I do like the advantage of getting back to the pits and being able to change from an impossible, (read "stupid"), setup and at least be able to continue on.  Next time I will cross the start/finish line, then escape to the pits to remove the lost lap.

Now some one ended up in the pits too, from the start! I think it ...? If you can be on team speak, we would all be happy to restart the race under those circumstances, it is really disappointing being so close and missing out the race.

Race 2 saw me catching a few, smashing, catching a few... but enjoyed the experience.  Now with the server at least easier to configure/run for next week I think i can concentrate on the races more...

You may have noticed, we are now going to be racing at Goodwood, an change of tracks.  I think this is more suited to the cars and the event.
Sign ups will remain as they are, with the current numbers, the reserves will remain on the grid unless pushed out by a perm commitment by new racers.

Hope you all enjoyed as much as I did. Thanks for being part of the event. Thanks for the preparation assistance too.
