How is the Amazon bandwidth allocated/managed?
Not sure what exactly are you after, but I recommend googling and reading Amazon's documents online - there's plenty of those.  I have not read any hard information on this subject.

It's a possibility, but they'd probably have to replace the FTTN-installed junction boxes.  The sad thing is this mixed-shambles solution seems to come slower and more expensively already, not to mention the running costs, overheads, etc...

The Abbott government is a bunch of lucky idiots. There I said it.

It's actually not that bad on either cpu or bandwidth; you just need a server, not some shitbox, to run it.
But less resources used = potentially larger fields.  And that'd be good :)

And yes, amazon ec2 servers have symmetrical bandwidth.  Actually, servers nearly always have just a bandwidth, it's the ADSL and now other consumer (home) connections that have this difference in up/down bandwidth.   ADSL is by definition like that, the rest maybe to restrict your ability to p2p and host servers...I'm not sure what the drive behind this could be.

I think if you guys ask us nicely we might be able to help you out with the initial setup - either Wally or me.
But you need to register for an amazon acc first.
And get familiar with RDP if you haven't used it (remote desktop) and maybe read up on server setups (you can practice running a server locally)

In fact you could run an ad-hoc server on those nights locally, if you have a decent 'net connection.

In a nutshell:
you sign up to Amazon, you get a year free of a micro instance
go to amazon ec2 (elastic computing cloud) control panel
start a micro instance windows server (your choice just make sure it's eligible for the free tier)
copy the server files up, start it
allow traffic(!) for the server and switch off the windows firewall(!!)

voila.

ps there are pretty good manuals on Amazon, and with he help of a few google searches it's all solvable.

Ha ha, love the sponsors :D

Tenga is missing! ;)

Btw that 888 number is a tiny bit presumptuous imo :)

Gents my apologies but I probably won't be able to make it tonight, so I'll rather pull out now.  The whole family is sick...and I'm coming down, too  :(

Sorry guys I could not attend, picked up my niece & nephew from the airport, I had to get up at 5, drove ~4 hours to and fro, and did not have much sleep, and I was totally knackered by the evening.

C3.large. Enhanced networking. Windows 2008R2.
Thanks...and did you update the AC server to the latest? Or we're on an earlier version?

It's not the wings this time, Wally.  The car is nice to drive, but boring to race under the current circumstances, that's all.

And sorry Guybrush I mean slipstream.  I don't know nascar at all, so I thought the two were synonymous.

Btw, Wally, can you tell us what exactly is the setup you're running for the race nights?   Which instance, which windows and if you don't mind; which server version?  Thanks.   We had a bit of problems in AACL last night (server crashes).   Trying to get to the bottom of it.
