Racing general / Re: Professional sim used by Erebus motorsports

We have a simulator at work https://photos.app.goo.gl/36GGZx5m0tE6AwBG2
Made a short clip while I put one our excavator operators through the basic training program. Its usually set up for dump trucks, but they trialled an excavator kit. It is in its own shipping container, fully air-conditioned, 180degree curved screen (triple 1080p rear projector), full motion base and runs off four server rack mounted PC's with 6th gen i5s, 16gb ram, gtx960's. Would love to convert it to racing rig lol. I think it's a seven figure system

The simulator can be yours for only $104,500. It even supports AC.
Now to convince the wife...
I think it is odd that only the seat moves not the steering wheel :o
Yeah, I think I'd rather a solid seat than have it like that

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: S12 R4 - Castle Hill - 25/01/2018

Great racing tonight, fair bit of side by side and a few passes, disappointed with myself trying to make a pass up the inside at turn one but hit the brakes too hard and locked up. Bounced off the two cars in front but luckily no wipe out and we carried on. Good fun thanks guys

I don't do reverse grids all that often, but they never seem to work out that well. We have also done reverse top 10 (or whatever), and then the guy finishes 11 complains that it's not fair, because they just missed out on pole for the next race. There's always someone who complains about something, so I have to develop a bit of a thicker skin about complaints and ignore most things that aren't crucial flaws.

But yeah, fill reverse grids will die a natural death, I think.
Your signature quote says it all Wally . . . . . . your doing a great job and the variety keeps it interesting!
Thanks Freezer. Yeah, I think you have to keep mixing it up to keep it interesting. You can't just do the same format/rules week after week.
When I first started with you guys, it was the Escort and had restrictor applied to the faster guys/winners to give the slower guys a run at the front, I liked the idea and signed up. I also signed up for this season knowing the rules/conditions and have enjoyed both series. I also like that you are thinking outside the box, trying to give a bit of variety and bring a little bit of equality to the field. Not every plan will be 100% successful but don't give up, I might not be as encouraging if I'd been caught up in some the big incidents, but then you'd just think...sore loser lol. What I'm trying say is keep it up, it's good fun and much better than having the same people win all the races all of the time, thanks for all the effort you put in to keep this stuff going

I reckon the slowest cars on the shortest tracks possible, give everyone a chance to brush up on race craft
I meant this also lol, quoted the wrong post

I am not talking about driving fast, anyone can do that alone
I also really liked the Ferrari 599xx EVO fun run we did. Someone on the night said "why haven't we raced these in a season?". I agree!
I like both of these ideas

Qualified and finished 5th in the first race, good racing. R2 completely forgot to load my setup, so defaults it was. managed to get by the pile up on the grass while clipping a bumper of someone facing 90 degrees. Had a fair bit of side by side racing with kcender and mael, another good race finished 4th. R3, some more good close racing, got up into 2nd but had a brain fade and hit the barrier on my own, impacts where brutal on this circuit, and went to the back. Thanks for the great racing

Assetto Corsa / Re: Wanted to buy - Windows 7 home premium product key
« on: January 22, 2018, 01:50:20 PM »
Does anyone have a Windows 7 home premium product key for sale. Or can point me to a website that is safe to buy them from ?
I just built a pc up out of old parts for my nephew and niece to play around with and I have installed windows 7 on, but the product key sticker is missing  :( and as its a clean install product key finding programs only find a generic key that does not work.

I have like 5 discs of windows 7 here that are all useless lol
Does it have to be 7, 10 keys are easier to get online, I've used gamesdeal.com g2a.com kinguin also ebay. Sometimes an old w7 will work on w10 if the version matches

cool thanks, will suss it out
Hadn't seen any really good deals, but my brother is checking out this one https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40988/viewsonic-va2719-2k-27in-widescreen-ips-monitor
Seems like a pretty cheap way to get into 27inch 1440p triples, I had originally overlooked it because of the 14ms response time but apparently it has a game mode for 5ms which brings it in line with most other ips panels

cheers, looks good also,  now I need to decide :)
EBay sale coming up https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/355112 have a look around at some of the ebay stores mentioned in the comments section and then see if they get discounted. Only thing is some of the sellers jack the prices a bit when these sales are on, but usually I've found that stuff still ends up a bit cheaper than stores like pccasegear.

New nvidia driver 390.65 January 9th
Should I go for it. I am on 388.43 because usually the latest drivers give me a bit of mess, so I try to stay on stable but slightly older drivers. I'll do what you say, if you say, though ;)
I've only tried a few games and it seems good, but I haven't tried AC with it yet
My first impression is that it is a tiny tiny bit worse...

EDIT: ...or just exactly the same.
I was hoping there might some improvement in it for this bleeding edge stuff like vr, oh well
