Well there was a tonne of contacts tonight but luckily virtually none involved me. I could get the award for avoiding them though as I repeatedly dived through gaps as people spun. Aside from that I had a lot of pressure racing with Joe, Mathew, Bacculum etc etc.
The 370z seems to have better mid corner speed so I had to make sure my corners were precise to hold off the speed of the RX7/Skyline's. The RX7's seem to be dancing all over the place. Only made two little slips all night and ended up with some respectable results. Fun night...! 827

Multi class longer races sound good and would be a change. Short enough track to encourage lapping etc like the Grand Am Rolex series.

Once again surprised in that there didn't seem like many opportunities to pass on this track but once the races got under way there was plenty and very clean.
R1 Got away well and worked up to 5th but a big lag spike saw me flung off the track. Managed to work my way back from down the back to 9th. Cant remember all the details but despite numerous side by side racing moments I had very little contact all night. The usual suspects charged through but I was able to make them work pretty hard to get past which was great. Will be away next week for Imola which is a shame as the Supra might have had the legs there. So that's it for the Supra, bring on the second half of the season. 834

Much like LetsTestDrive I had a good night. I knew that the Skylines would be doing quicker laps but I just drove the Supra to its strengths and had three races that involved very close racing, tonnes of pressure from behind. I held the tight line on certain bends and made sure I got maximum traction of the bends which ensured those faster had to work pretty hard to get buy. It was only in R3 when Jeremy gave me a tap and spun me that I lost time (although Jeremy and I had an earlier small rub which caused some chaos). All up a hard but good night.
I'm happy with whatever format as there are always pro's and con's. 835

In practice I thought "I'm going to come last" such was my pace but a few very late tweaks made the car feel better.
I had a heap of good battles with all different people over the three races. The Supra held up well as far as tyres go etc and felt pretty consistent. It did have the legs on the longer straights but not the drive out of corners so the only hope was to hold the tight line where ever possible and make the Nissan's go the long way round. This worked pretty well for most of the races and certainly meant those behind had to work for it. All up some good (see surprising) results and great battles. Once again apologies to Mael for the tap I gave him early in the piece! 836

Good nights racing. I managed to avoid the various spins in each race to end up with decent results.
I ran the Supra as I like the overall feel of the car. As long as I kept it smooth through the corners the straight line speed did the rest. I did attempt the Skyline at R2 qual but jumped back as like Wally said I don't like the way it turns it feels dull in the steering! Should be an interesting season. 839

Race 1: got away to a good start and ended up getting to 3rd but then a dodgy down change at T1 saw me run wide and drop 6 spots. I gained a couple of spots back over the next laps. Pitted at lap 9 but my pit app had two stops recorded (1) Full tank, (2) 15L. Little did I know that was on the 2nd option and so on stopping I came out with no new tyres and minimal fuel requiring the whole thing to be done again.
This basically cost me any chance of a good result. . . Race 2: bogged it a bit off the line dropping a spot to 4th. Didn't really see to many people this race. Mael was behind in the Ferrari which I now understood I had to be well ahead of to have a chance due to the fuel difference. I pushed out a reasonable gap but not nearly enough and ended up coming home 8th after the stops all played out. Unfortunately my pitconfig stuff up possibly saw me drop to 5th on the ladder behind Mael who I found myself having a lot of good battles with over the season but all in all a good result. |
