Thanks for the heads up,

I know your over the V8 super car but I have been having fun pushing it around Phillip Island, can only do 34-35's on almost stock set-up. Do you have any old set-up's kicking around Metal for this car?
Title: Re: The lovely porsche
Post by: BJSRacer on January 20, 2014, 07:43:34 PM
how's your ruf set?
Title: Re: The lovely porsche
Post by: Simone on January 20, 2014, 11:41:38 PM
34-35 is not bad at all fox, keep doing that time for the whole race fighting and defending and you need a shower at the end... ::)

The iracing set up are good,or at least  they are a good starting point, remember the tank is full, and I usually trim down the ARB to make the car turn better, this car is very hard, the shittiest of all, simply,,it does not want to be overdrive, the slower you are the faster,,,period,,,smmmmmooooooth.

I got an old set capable of 32.7...never done it again, but I have no idea how to put it here,,sorry my ignorance....bugger 8)  I did it...enjoy my set.. ;D

Thanks Metal, funnily I started going slower as the more laps I did. Also my tires wouldn't last long so I have a lot to learn.

Which Porsche you using in video, I'm having a hard time with the rwd transmission. For a sequential box it is crap.
Title: Re: The lovely porsche
Post by: BJSRacer on January 21, 2014, 04:11:52 PM
I have only tried the Track so far.... I lie, half a lap of the mountain in the RWD made me quit.
Title: Re: The lovely porsche
Post by: Simone on January 21, 2014, 05:41:08 PM
I have only tried the "track" one,it seams to be the easiest, plus I am totally addicted to changing gear with the pad(I know I am an idiot),,..I don't have the patience and the ability to use a sequential box,,,shame though.

Cheers Metal, can't wait for it  :o

Well the Track handles a lot better than the RWD, I found I had to turn in very early on the RWD but the Track does it with ease???

After doing quite a few laps in the RWD I jumped in the Track for fun, here you see I'm turning in to early most of the time.

nice video mr fox,are you using a sequential gear box?...it does not sound like it,but very good, and yes you are turning a bit early    ::)

I wish I could learn to use a gear stick while racing these beasts,it would be the real deal, especially without any help from the game,no auto clutch,no auto blip,,no nothing...hhhaargghh I ll never be a real sim racer!!! :(

Was using paddles for that video with no aids, I do like using the stick for the RWD as it becomes quite demanding.

Are you going to race the Track or the C-spec in the upcoming series.
Title: Re: The lovely porsche
Post by: Simone on January 22, 2014, 04:01:44 PM
At the moment I put my name down here http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3228900.page

It is very competitive, with good drivers,60 min races, with fuel comsuption(don't know if you are aware but in the "track" version there is the possibility to use mod 1 and mod 2 fuel usage) and yes I love these club tournament because there are no safety rating or irating penalties involved.    I have not collected a single point in 3 races...bugger  :-X

But ye,,,i llllove competing and I will participate in the official series with the "Track" version, you got to have a B license for it though,if you read the season schedule you`ll find the track and the Mc Laren racing together.

The Porsche C-spec  will have its own season, and you`ll need a C license, actually it would be interesting racing only with one car,,i am not fund of mixing cars.

I looked in settings and there it was, sequential or direct shift options, I use paddles with direct shift.... except for the RWD, then Im allowed my H shifter which I love. much slower but more exciting for me  :o

I am having hard time to shift gears down with the ruf track,i have to be careful and shift down only when the revs match the gears....what a prick of a car..,,but fun!!!

I reckon you might have to start blipping the throttle mate on down shifts. Just a quick jab when down shifting and she will be all good and errrr, it helps if you left foot brake as well, sooooo quick jab on the throttle as you down shift and take up left foot braking and she will be all good  :o

changed to autoshift, autoclutch, auto gear shift, auto pizza, auto spaghetti, auto ragu`,,,no change, disappointing,i mean the car is great fun to drive but shifting down is problematic, and i have to say sometimes it goes to neutral and if you upshift it goes back where it was before going to neutral?....no good!
Do you know guys if this is normal realistic behaviour?...

Well that sucks, is this with all the ruf cars? I will try the track version this morning. Iracing software seems very buggy, its down for maintenance again :-\

Thing I dont understand is they have 4 versions of one car. So why not make one to suit each group. Im sure you will adapt it is just going through fustration phase that is hard. Btw I havent found any difference in c-spec race, try that car and tell me what you think.

They admitted there are having  problem with the site, and yes the latest update  has not been very successful, but everybody knows shit happens, lets wait and see if they are fixing something....I mean...I wish all the problem I have were related to iracing..ehehehe >:(

I briefly tried the other ruf cars and they seams to behave the same,,,,bugger do not tell me I have to start using the clutch pedal like in real life!!!!! :-[

That's great you had fun Fox!!! I have been practicing the ruf track at Road Atlanta in the GT3 challenge season mate.I love the feel of this car I think is very good. Are not  you doing the GT3 challenge as well Fox? Or you ae doing the ruf c-spec cup?

Ok iracing is back, still all my iracing friends have disappeared...gggrrrrr >:(,,,,hey fox I am online can you see me ??

ok they know its a bug,,phew!!...related to make the car match to the McLaren I hope they fix it soon,,.... ::)

As you know each round lasts one week and you can have as many races you like,i usually race only once per week,if you click on stats and then on "series" you can have a look at lap times other ppl are doing in your division, especially in the qual results, where you can see you qual time(if any) and the ladder in the "season standing"

hahaahahah I thought this car was promoting close racing but,,, :'(  I just had a look at the qual lap time in div 2,,,,,,knoth!!!!   38 cars in a sec!!!!!!!

1 second apart for 38 drivers, talk about close driving. I have to map some shit, what info do you most rely on and is it just bias you change while driving these. Where do you find fuel consumption. ok,,i decided....I will do the RUF CUP  as it is less crowded, there were 30 ppl last night at all times on the aus server in the GT3 CHALLENGE.

I have tried the c-spec....NOICE!!  I am sold, plus I am allergic of these mix cars in the serie.

Mapping,,,it may goes with the individual....but
1)  relative time f1 button to see where everybody is,,,handy to re-enter track

2) lap time  f3 I think

3) to change or not tyres  f5

4) fuel   f4

5) pit speed limiter

6)select next control...mapped

7) select previous control...mapped

8) toggle selected control...mapped

6,7,8..important especially if you race in private league where races request,,,fue and tyres changing,,,this is what I use most in race.

Well I had 3 races in the Mazda in the rookies', 2 good reasons haha.
Race 1 flipped by an idiot
Race 2 jumped start = S & G = a pit stop, opps
but had a fantastic 15 lap fight and with attrition  fought up to 4th
Race 3 fantastic 25 laps from the back to 2nd Yeah man!
So I think I have had my $12 worth just in those races.

Disappointing situation at iracing  :(,web site not very healthy, and still that lovely Porsche broken with that horrible N bug,,,meh!!!

Actually,,mmhhhh cal me an idiot, and probably I am,but I start to enjoy the new Porsche gear box, last night I never had the neutral popping out, reason is,i was putting down the gears way too fast, and obviously these car are not built to downshift F1 style .Now,after I got some advices from the forum,i use the brakes more for  entering the corners, slow down,and,,,voila`...lovely Porsche is back again, and is more fun in this way, clearly before was almost archaid....certainly there is something to fix but I can put up with that....good car!!  ::)

A 150 MB patch this morning,with this... ;D

Ruf RT 12R Track

 - Use more throttle for downshift blipping to fix the problem where downshifts could hang in neutral.

 - Expand tire pressure range to match other GT cars on v5 tires.

I just started to learn the new gear box lately,i had a practice race  with the club last night and it was a blast, fantastic car,the feel of racing  and accellerating away over the curbs at Montreal is impressive, and the set up I created is very solid, happy ;D

I do not want to exaggerate but it is one of the funniest car I ever raced online 8)
