This is going to be a busy race, on a narrow, bumpy track that always seems to rush by fast.I fear it's going to be a mess... so bumpy and so slippery even at 100%. Should be a fun challenge, though
I did a handful of laps last night for first time too. Gonna be a tough race. The curbs here are really nasty.
I just had a run.
I remember the Lada being the same but it made for some great close racing

Best night I've had in a long time, if not best I've had. Qualified 6th but quickly got up into third behind Jeremy and as soon as lap 3 came around I was able to hit DRS and get by. Held the position with Phil behind me until he pitted around lap 9. I had clear track so stayed out until lap 15 expecting Phil to have jumped me but came out just in front of him. Held position for a while then Phil just got by but made a small mistake running wide and I got along side. Made several turns side by side until I got out in front (Think Phil said there was a rub but I saw or felt nothing?). Lap 19 Matthew got me down the main straight; I was able to stay quite close and had DRS a the end but being the final lap not enough time to get by.
Race 2 managed to miss some of the accidents and get through into 3rd behind Phil. We got past Simone after a few laps and then had around a 1.5 second gap for the rest of the race. I finally got DRS again on the final lap but no help at that point.
Was fortunate to miss some of the incidents the faster drivers got caught up in but then was consistent enough to stay ahead so happy with that.

The wind's going to be about twice as strong in race 2, blowing roughly along the straight from behind, so we might notice a difference in downforce in the afternoon race.
With that pace I'm hoping you're not
I wasn't holding my breath for PC2, but ISRTV put out this video yesterday on their first impressions:
Quick summary: The reviewer didn't think much at all of the PC1 physics which seems a view shared with a lot of XGNers, but he says PC2 is totally different and feels very much improved, and that if all the cars are as good as the two he drove then it's going to be a popular sim. Fingers crossed....

I found this video which is a good comparison between the Vive and the Gear VR with Riftcat.
The guy reviewing say the picture quality is actually better on the Gear VR with a good phone as the resolution is higher and it has an AMOLED screen. Looking down the road in the distance is a little blurry so I guess based on his comments this is the same with Vive or Oculus; can anyone here confirm?
In the comments he also told me he's making a video about a budget $20 head tracking system so I'll be able to get head tracking working too and not just the direction i'm looking in which would add to the immersion. I did a few laps in the La Ferrari with it at Brand Hatch last night and it's such a different experience feeling like you are sat in the car.
EDIT: Just to summarize, in this guys opinion the benefits of the Vive is the smoothness in looking around due to it being directly connected to the GPU and not streamed, and the accuracy of the controllers which is irrelevant for sim racing. He was actually using PS move controllers with some software to emulate them as Vive controllers which again is pretty cool!

Last night was the first time I had used Oculus Rift in AC, actually just got it delivered last Friday and had used it in iracing on the weekend for the 24hr lemans. It was quite an experience to have VR running last night in the close battles that I was involved in. Really exciting stuff!Cool! You mind me asking what GPU you are using and how it goes with Oculus? I have a 980 and I fear it would not be enough...
From my understanding you'd be ok. You'd probably have to turn a few settings down to get the 90fps, but AC isn't really that demanding on GPU.

Qually a bit slower than I hoped due to mistakes and traffic. Started 6th.
Race one I gained a spot on Phil by Eu Rouge as I backed off a little for whoever was infront of me and Phil also backed off a bit and I was able to put my foot down. Was behind Jeremy and Kero for a few laps with them having a good battle but Kero lost it into the barrier unfortunately. I was being extra cautious not get cuts after round 1 and Jeremy started to pull away. After the pit stop be was quite far ahead and the gap behind was quite big so I just kept it clean. Matthew's incident gifted me 3rd.
Race two started quite well, lap 3 I got a much better exit through La Source than Jeremy who was infront and my DRS went green. I kept the pedal down but they realised I was going a fair bit quicker than him and eased off a touch on the second apex of Eu Rouge which send me skidding sideways. I almost caught it but came back over to the left into the barrier with red engine, wings and steering broken. Just as I came to a halt the DRS app beeped I had to teleport back to the pits to be given a 5 minute penalty and came out I guess two laps down I guess finishing last.
And the money pit keeps getting bigger... people probably saw me complaining that the formula rim really wasn't good for certain car/track combos, especially if the car goes sideways. I could only afford one rim at the time of buying everything else but today this arrived! Can't wait to try it, but still need the formula rim for tonight.
