« on: December 12, 2017, 10:35:55 PM »
This is a heads up that the season will start next Tuesday - the 19th.

Then Dec 26 Boxing Day will be just a non-season fun run for those that are awake/sober/motivated enough to jump on and have a race.

Then the season will resume on Tue Jan 2.

I might try giving this a go some time.

Car: BMW M235i Racing

Round Format
Single make sprints (no compulsory pit stops).
3 sprints:
  • Qualifying + Race 1
  • Race 2 in order of Race 1 finish
  • Race 3 in reverse grid order of Race 2 finish
Damage Penalty
Every impact your car has (during the race only) will get a little bit of restrictor for the next race, and will remain for the rest of the round (reset to 0 at the start of the next round). This is to represent your team not being able to fix your car to 100% between races. It will only be mild - a sliding scale of restrictor from 0% to 10% for impacts between 30 kph and 100 kph (capped at 10% for impacts at higher speeds). Most impacts are between 20 and 30 kph. This would be for car to car impacts (for both cars) and also impacts with barriers. This will add more tension to the racing and may make people be a little more cautious. I.e. there are consequences for hitting things with your car.

Provisional Track List
I've chosen some of the lesser used tracks for Tuesdays, including the excellent new mod, Road Atlanta - a great circuit full of blind crests, for a challenge. Highlands and Thruxton are both high-speed circuits.

Tor Poznan
Oulton Park - International - No Chicane
Thruxton
Highlands
Okayama
Road Atlanta
Laguna Seca

We will try the other two S20 cars: the Porsche Cayman GT4 and the Lotus 3-Eleven, in two separate races. Practice will be with both cars, then qualifying and race 1 (16 laps) in the Porsche, then qualifying and race 2 (19 laps) in the Lotus.

Track: New Jersey Motorsport Park [DOWNLOAD] (same as last week so we can compare apples with apples).

We will try two of the S20 cars: the BMW 235i and the KTM XBow-R, in two separate races. Practice will be with both cars, then qualifying and race 1 (16 laps) in the BMW, then qualifying and race 2 (16 laps) in the KTM.

The other two cars will be the following week.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Season 20 car poll
« on: November 29, 2017, 07:58:17 PM »
You can vote for more than one car, and you can change your vote.

The round format is going to be three sprints:
  • Qualifying + Race 1
  • Race 2 in order of Race 1 finish
  • Race 3 in reverse grid order of Race 2 finish
There will be some fun runs coming up to give you a chance to try racing each car.

In addition
Every impact your car has will get a little bit of restrictor for the next race, and will remain for the rest of the round. This is to represent your team not being able to fix your car to 100% between races. It will only be mild - looking at past results, it would probably be a sliding scale of restrictor from 0% to 10% for impacts between 30 kph and 100 kph (capped at 10% for impacts at higher speeds). Most impacts are between 20 and 30 kph. This would be for car to car impacts (for both cars) and also impacts with barriers. This will add more tension to the racing and may make people be a little more cautious. I.e. there are consequences for hitting things with your car.

First up, congratulations to Matthew on the LMP1 championship, a clear winner over Kcender87.

In the GT3 class, DC and killagorilla tied on 111 points each. On a countback of race wins... the championship goes to DC, with 3 wins to killa's 2. Congratulations DC!

After the high tech wizardry of the LMP1s, it's time to get back to basics, with some trackday style sprints. I have a single make series in one of the following cars in mind:

  • Porsche Cayman GT4
  • Lotus 3-Eleven
  • KTM XBow-R
  • BMW 235
3 sprints, race 2 in order of race 1 finish, race 3 in reverse order of race 2 finish.

I also want to try some spice: every impact your car has will get a little bit of restrictor for the next race. This is to represent your team not being able to fix your car to 100% between the morning and midday races, for example. It will only be mild - something like an impact between 20 and 40 kph gets 2 points of restrictor, between 40 and 80 gets 5 points of restrictor etc. Nothing for minor scrapes. This would be for car to car impacts (for both cars) and also impacts with barriers. This will add more tension to the racing and may make people be a little more cautious. I.e. there are consequences for hitting things with your car.

I know sometimes it will feel "not fair" if someone else hits you... but that's motor racing, as they say. An emotional roller-coaster.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Next season start?
« on: November 27, 2017, 10:53:17 PM »
Hey fellas, when shall we start the next season? I'm thinking of the upcoming holiday period, when people might be away and what not.

We have the upcoming Tuesdays:

Nov 28 - final race of WEC season
Dec 5
Dec 12
Dec 19
Dec 26
Jan 2
Jan 9
etc.....

Me personally, I'm easy - I'm not going away or anything. We'd probably have 1 or 2 practice/trial runs before the next season starts for real. Has anybody got any preferences or dates they'll not be here?

R7, Nov 28: Bahrain [DOWNLOAD] (sakhir - grand prix layout)

Weather is 26 and sunny with a light wind. This is the hottest race of the season.

This is the final round of the season. DC only has a 10 point lead over killagorilla in the GT3 class, so the GT3 championship could come down to the wire. Joe's 3rd place could come under assault from any of Phil, Shayne or Freezer who are all within striking distance.

Matthew has a 9 pt lead in the LMP1 class, but neither Kcender nor Grat will be at Bahrain. After Kcender and Grat, Diehard is 26 points away.

SEASON STANDINGS

Penalties: Mael had passed Bacchulum and was just clear, but Bacchulum sped up a little and hit Mael, who was still on the racing line, in the rear corner, spinning him off the track and causing him to lose several positions. Because Bacchulum should have backed off a little once cleanly passed, a penalty is issued (an extra 25% restrictor).

Season Podium
GT3
1. DC, 103
2. killagorilla, 93
3. Joe, 64

DC's continuing good form and killagorilla's 9th place finish sees DC move up into the championship lead. A 2nd place finish for Joe sees him jump from 5th to 3rd, leapfrogging Phil and Shayne on the standings.
Aaron Thomas managed to climb 3 spots to 9th, with a solid 4th place.

LMP1
1. Matthew111, 102
2. Kcender87, 93
3. Grat, 89

Grat's absence from this round sees him drop to 3rd, with Matthew and Kcender moving up a spot each.
Buellersdayoff and JamieP both climb a couple of places.
