I've done a handful of laps in each car at Riverside Short until I could put in consistent laps. Only changed gears and tyre pressures from default setups. Here are my times:

BMW CSL 1:25.5
Capri 1:25.5
Daytona 1:25.7
Pantera 1:25.9
Ferrari 365 1:26.2
Nissan GT-R 1:26.4
Porsche 906 1:26.8
Porsche RSR 1:27.7
Corvette 69 1:28.2
Corvette 67 1:28.9
Thanks Wally, shows there is some inbuilt handicapping available if the faster drivers are happy driving the slower cars. One problem I can see is car selection for the server, I think every driver will need to nominate a car/cars that they will drive, to avoid a nightmare for Phil in setting up the server.
I am still very impressed at how good this MOD is :) :) :).

Paragon Drive Copy sounds better and cheaper than Acronis (thanks Bird) plus has the capability to add an SSD to a HDD only system, it can separate out the Operating System from the HHD and put it on the SSD, very clever  ;D ;D
I have stuff going back 10 years on my system, which is why I am a bit paranoid about backups  :).

Some really nice and rare cars here, including some from the upcoming Thursday Night season, I have been meaning to get to this place for some time now but I will not be able to make it until after the auction :'( The GT HO will go for huge dollars.

Thursday Nights fun racing / System crash/complete rebuild.
« on: October 20, 2017, 10:15:35 AM »
I purchased Acronis True Image , and now make a bootable clone of my hard drive on a regular basis. I only run a singe HDD which makes things easier, but I have found it invaluable. I just use USB external drives for the cloning. Only a small USB drive would be required for the SSD. It made upgrading to a new HDD a piece of cake. It also claims to be able to make a bootable clone of your HDD/SSD that will work on new hardware !!! this feature I have not yet tested.

The thought of starting a PC rebuild from scratch fills me with fear/dread/loathing !!! I feel for you Gratulin.

Great season, thanks all.
Congrats Mael, Bacch and Wally
I agree , a great season . Well done Mael, Bacch and Wally. Thanks Phil and Seanus for making it possible.

Bump time
Current link is for the LATEST version, so no need to change. :) . It is 460 MB so do not leave to the last minute !!

And if you want 'vastly different speeds', check out the latest craze of '├žircuit safaris', where they drive a tour bus around the track during practice! :o

That sound cool! I would be willing to fork out a bit of cash for a seat  ;D
I'd love to do that  ;D.

I changed camps
What a great music video clip, I don't think I have seen it before  :) :)

Looking forward to seeing you back on track for the AC Legends series Bruce, the Can Am series  is not as popular as I had hoped, but even some very experienced sim racers have had trouble coming to terms these monsters! To me it was an opportunity to relive what it was like to drive these cars, at the tracks, as it happened in 1966, and to finish the season ,Seanus has even come up with a version of Stardust Raceway   :) . This is what historic racing means to me( and I am sure you feel the same)  I am not simracing but reliving history.

Congatulations to all the winners not an easy thing on this track. I also had a great night of racing with I think , all the other drivers behind me at some stage, as I had lots of different coloured cars in my rearview mirror, if only briefly :(. One of the highlights was being passed by Bacchulum in the dipper, I would not have thought it possible :o . I really believe these cars grow on you with more time driving them.

With the longer track next week a big rollup would be good,  with that in mind this is my setup for the Lola Ford which makes it very driveable just adjust the gear ratios.

General Discussion / Re: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Thanks buell, ahh alas still out of my price range at the moment...
Me: "dear, can I have $1300 for a new card for PC, PLEASE?"
My dear wife: no verbal, points to pile of receipts for the FJ.
hehe
I was unsure of the discount, ahh well... I will keep an eye secondhand for one.
Phil's GTX 980 is for sale Bruce.

Its true  8)
okay I have a GTX 770

so question time:
what factor better is the 990 to the 770?
Will it fit in the same slot as the current 770?
I have a high output power box, so it should just use the same wiring?

sorry most of my hardware knowledge is old, worked with software too long :)
If your PC case is a full tower it will fit no problems, the 980 is a lot longer than the 770 so if the HDD cage limits the length of GPU that may be a problem. I would also think you will need a 650 watt PSU and the 980 will require 2 x 12v  power cable plugs as well , so you will need adapters if not already on the existing power supply. It will be a huge improvement on your current card performance wise.

Interesting, I would have thought the water cooled option would be the best. Glad you are happy , nothing worse than a new bit of kit that does not measure up. I have been happy with my MSI 1080 TI Founders Edition, but I have not attempted any overclock as it can run at 84 deg C during a benchmark !!
