We're off to Japan, to Tsukuba. 3 x 18 laps on the Long circuit. This track will need the OSRW mod over the top of it to give the track extra pit boxes.

TRACK DOWNLOAD (includes the OSRW pit mod)

Weather Forecast (looking like 32 degrees and clear).

With no qualifying, Race 1 will start at 8:30pm eastern.

RACE RESULTS

Race 1, lap 1, there was a side-by-side contact with Phil on the inside of Grat, but Phil was up to Grat's drivers door, so I'd call that one a racing incident.

Race 3, lap 1, Humper and Grat hide side by side. Grat was on the inside, and only up to Humper's rear wheel, but it was an unsettled sequence through turns 2 and 3 and again I'll call that a racing incident.

Bacchulum got into the rear of Matthew at turn 1, but Matthew was oversteering and counter-steering, so again, a racing incident.

The opening round of season 13 is at Paul Ricard WTCC in France, with 3 x 11 lap sprints.

Weather Forecast (looking like 30 degrees and clear).

For this round only, there will be a 15 minute quallifying session, then races 2 and 3 will be in reverse order from the previous race's results.
In later rounds, each race will be in reverse order of the season standings, with no qualifying session.

Car Selection
Please get me your car selections by Sunday night. If anyone hasn't nominated a car, I will be assigning cars to balance out numbers.

Damage
I will set damage to 50% in each round.

I've been calculating the optimal shift points for the season 13 cars, based on these assumptions from what I've found after googling around:

I've redone the calcs down here: http://xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=1545.msg28486#msg28486

You want to stay in the car's maximal torque band, meaning you want the RPM to be around the point where you're generating the maximum torque, say 4500 RPM for example. Every time you shift up, the car's RPM drops according to the gear ratios that you're shifting between.

 If 2nd has a ratio of 2.36, and 3rd has a ratio of 1.685, then when you shift from 2nd to 3rd, the RPM will drop by a factor of 1.685/2.36 = 0.71. So if you want your RPM to drop to 4500 after you shift into 3rd, you need to shift from 2nd at 4500/0.71 = 6300 RPM. This means that when you shift into 3rd, your RPM will drop from 6300 to 4500 and you'll still be generating max torque.

So if you know the RPM at maximum torque, and the gear ratios, you can calculate the optimal shift point.

Based on this, I've calculated these shift RPM (rounded to the nearest 50) from data in the game. If an RPM figure is over a car's redline, well, then redline it!

Supra
1 = 7450
2 = 6550
3 = 5750
4 = 5400
5 = 5500

Skyline
1 = 7300
2 = 6300
3 = 5800
4 = 5900
5 = 5650

RX-7
1 = 8650
2 = 7250
3 = 6950
4 = 6550

Nissan 370z
1 = 5200
2 = 4600
3 = 4100
4 = 4050
5 = 4050

The 370z has a very flat torque curve. If you shift at these points, you can pretty much stay in the maximum torque band most of the time.

I'm in the process of working with the author of the Race Essentials HUD app to see if he can allow you to set custom shift points for the app's "shift lights" in different cars.

To let people practice and try out the season 13 cars with BOP ballast, we'll have 3 x 15 min sprints at Gentrack1.
The server will have the usual password.

Qualifying at 8:30pm eastern.

THIS IS OUT OF DATE WITH AC 1.7
It also only has the Tsukuba OSRW pit box mod, not the full Tsukuba mod track.
You're best off downloading the tracks individually from the signup thread.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/lmp94820sjlv5nt/XGNS13Tracks.zip?dl=0

Unzip all of this into your assetto corsa / content/tracks folder, overwriting any existing files. This is all the mod tracks and the OSRW extra pit box mods.

It's 550MB!

Season 13 features rounds of 3, 20 minute, reverse grid sprint races in selected cars from the Japanese Pack (DLC).

Cars
  • RX-7 Spirit R
  • 370z Nismo
  • Supra MKIV
  • Skyline GTR R34 V-Spec
Cars are ballasted (RX-7, 145kg and 370z, 115kg) for parity. You'll have to swap between the two groups (RX-7 or 370z, swapping to Supra or Skyline and vice versa) half way through the season to balance out any unfair advantage that might creep in due to the ballast.

Season Schedule - starts August 2
R1: Aug 2, Paul Ricard WTCC, 3 x 11 laps [VERSION 0.9.7 DOWNLOAD]
R2: Aug 9, Tsukuba (Long), 3 x 18 laps [VERSION 2.0 DOWNLOAD (includes OSRW pit mod)]
R3: Aug 16, Brands Hatch Indy, 3 x 21 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R4: Aug 23, Imola, 3 x 9 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
-- Mandatory car Swap (RX-7/370z <-> Supra/Skyline) --
R5: Aug 30, Baskerville, 3 x 16 laps [VERSION 0.8 DOWNLOAD]
R6: Sep 6, Silverstone International, 3 x 15 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R7: Sep 13, Magione, 3 x 14 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R8: Sep 20, Eastern Creek Druitt, 3 x 16 laps [DOWNLOAD]

Race 1 prac/qual starts at 8:30pm Eastern time, and there is usually a long practice session before that, starting from around about 6:00pm.

Round Format
Each race is a full reverse grid race with no qualifying sessions (only round 1, race 1, has a qualifying session to set start order for that round). Each race in other rounds is in reverse order of championship points standings.

Fuel and tyres are 1x and there are no compulsory pit stops.

Start Lights
We'll use AC's new jump start detection, with a drive through penalty enforced by the game that must be taken in the 1st 3 laps. The PLP start lights will NOT be used. You will need to make sure you have the latest PLP app downloaded HERE to turn the PLP lights off.

Points
Points in each race are 24, 23, 22 down to 1.
Fastest lap in each race gets a 1 point bonus.

Penalties
Every opening lap major infringement (e.g. avoidable rear hits, unsafe track re-entry causing accidents etc), will be awarded 90 kg of penalty ballast for the corresponding race of the next round (90 kg is approximately 10 seconds over the whole race, but the time lost will vary from track to track and car to car).

Weather
Weather will be taken from the local circuit forecast on each actual race day. Races are at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm in game time.

Track grip will simulate rainy conditions:
Damp track - 85% grip
Wet track - 75% grip
Very wet track - 65% grip

Hey Marty, can you put one of your servers up with the Japanese cars that are a candidate for the next season, and leave it up for a while to gather times for comparison? With set conditions, say 26 degrees,  clear and 100% grip, at a fairly "balanced" AC track which is neither too fast nor too slow, so no car is unfairly advantaged.  Maybe Brands Hatch Indy? Or Imola?

Then it would be good if people could just rack up as many laps as possible in a variety of cars to see either if some cars should be excluded,  or given some equalising ballast.
