Note: the regular Fairlady Z in there as well, as it is required for the S1 version.

I will organise a fun run practice night after the season,  in the meantime I will get all these cars on the server when I have time:) or if someone has them all downloaded already and could send me all in a package would be cool,   8)

Uploading a zip to dropbox now, will post the link once it's done.

Has anyone tested the physics in these cars? We've been disappointed before with models that do not have 'proper' physics implemented for AC.

I've driven a couple of them but I'm not the best judge of these sorts of things to be honest. A testing night could be the way to go, then everybody can give them a drive and give their feedback and we can scrap the shit ones (or all of them if necessary).

Those cars are pretty cool. Had a short run with them at a small LAN I was at last Saturday. Unfortunately the rest of the guys there are more into more modern cars, but I really enjoyed them.

The idea I had was maybe some kind of mixed classics series. For example, after some testing with the AI, the following cars seem to match up pretty well (they're all within just over a second around Barbagallo):

DeTomaso Pantera GT5-S '71 http://acmodhub.com/cars/detomaso-pantera-gt5-s/
Mazda RX-3 GT '72 http://assetto-db.com/car/mazda_rx3_wkmod
Nissan Fairlady Z 432 S1 '69 http://assetto-db.com/car/nissan_fairladyz_432_s1
BMW 2002 Turbo '73 http://assetto-db.com/car/bmw_2002t
Porsche 930 Turbo '78 http://assetto-db.com/car/porsche_930
Ford Mustang GT 390r '67 http://assetto-db.com/car/ford_mustang390
Pontiac Trans Am '69 http://assetto-db.com/car/pontiac_trans69
Dodge Demon 340 '71 http://assetto-db.com/car/dodge_demon340

Could have a limited amount of each available and have a random drawing of who gets what. Just a thought.

but I can't stand that cut-detection

Yeah I ended up bailing late in the 2nd race because I kept getting time penalties and I don't even know where I was cutting.

The app tells you every time you get a cut, so it pays to keep an eye on it. The app always has to find a balance, in the imperfect AC world, between penalising too much and not penalising enough, and it gets it pretty right the majority of the time. The thing is, the rules are the same for everyone. If you know you are likely to get a cut at a certain point of the track, don't cut there. It's like any sport... you play to what the umpire is picking up on the day.

Don't get me wrong Wally, I agree completely. I was just getting frustrated with myself more than anything else.

I think I was getting the warnings at the exit of the chicane, going out too far onto the green section (astroturf?).

For example, I can't get them to drive the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse or the BMW E30 M3 on Barbagallo. They will practice and qualify, but won't race (and some other cars work fine, so I don't think it's to do with the AI Fast Lane). They just sit there on the grid and it's like they're in gear but not revving (ie. Tacho shows 0rpm) and in some cases have the steering wheel tilted all the way left or right.  :-\

458
I might have to give that a try Bruce. I think I was just too wary of the car's mentality to pitch a fit when dropping gears to early  ;D

I can't remember if it was the car or track last time that I couldn't unzip once it had been downloaded, but if it wasn't the car then I might be able to make tonight a bit later on for a couple of laps.

Let me know if you can't open it and I'll stick it on dropbox for you unzipped if you like

By reading peoples' reports it sounds like there was competitive racing all the way through the field, which is great to hear.  :D

Last nite I ran on just an i7 6700 and my old ddr3 ram and cant say there was a noticeable difference between that and my i7 2700k
Not terribly surprising, CPU is nowhere near as important as it used to be with gaming. Any i7 should be able to cut it as long as your GPU and RAM are up to scratch, even more so if you're running games of an SSD.

Yeah the braking is easily the trickiest part with the 550 S1, but on the other hand it is so easy to control oversteer out of corners!

I had never driven Gentrack before, because I thought with such a crap name it was gonna be a crap track. Turns out it's an awesome track (but it still has a crap name).

My internet connection died with about a minute left in Quali and only really came back about 20 minutes ago. Massive pain in the arse.

My fingers are crossed for you Marty!
