Triple Monitor Stand
« on: January 05, 2016, 12:09:42 PM »
Hi All,

I'm looking to get another stand for my monitors... the one that comes with the Obutto R3volution is basically crap...
After almost 12 months then thing is all wobbly and you just can't line up the monitors... really piss poor job  >:(

I am looking at something like this

For this I'd have to look at buying aluminium here and the brackets from the site image is located on as the cost to import is horrendous!

I'm looking for some kind of triple monitor stand too, for 27 inch monitors. Not easy to find something, so far.

Just buy a 40" single monitor :D

Yeah I was looking at a stand for this one, too, but the good ones cost nearly half grand.

Silverstone does something affordable, but that's underrated for this monitor.

This might work though, for triples - up to 24" that is.

There's one that goes up to 32" but it's a bit more pricey, and I've never heard of the company

Edit: but if you think about it, when you're spending 3-4 hundred on a stand, you might as well sell off and upgrade to 40" for $1100

- although you won't get the same width.  Sans bezel is the bonus. :)

*oh shiny* :P but the shipping price is nuts...

Spoke to the guys there and they recommend I buy the aluminium here locally, Get hinges and VESA mounts from the sim-lab
http://www.8020.com.au/ <- waiting for them to open so I can get a quote...

Then just build myself.  ;D

Anything with monitors hanging off arms is guaranteed to sag. You are probably better to go with 3 separate single monitor stands and just line them up. It is probably easier to make as well. I ended up getting a cheap IKEA corner desk with adjustable legs. I just use the original Dell monitor stands on the desk. It works really well. The corner desk is hard up against the corner walls so there is no movement.

3 separate stands is a friggen pain in the arse.  :)
But I could not justify the price (nor the effort to build one).

Very true. The IKEA desk is cheap and easy though. But i think I would go for a single 40in or bigger if I had my time over. I would love more height.

The problem is though, 40 inch has a width of ~ 34 inch (?) vs 3 x 24 inch having a width of ~ 60 inches.

You take a big hit horizontally which is probably what most important axis when it comes to driving.

That is true, and pretty accurate - you lose the side inches.  Still, I don't mind the swap.  The bezel was driving me nuts, and I do need the height for work.

Also, I don't think I mind the loss that much.  Most of it was unseen, anyway.  They say it's all peripheral vision, but I'm not completely sure if it matters too much at all.

What I'd prefer though is a bit of curve in the monitor, and maybe an even narrower aspect ratio with a couple of inches extra in size.
So my next one is a 42" curved 21:9 monitor. ;)

Although this one I could get into portrait mode with a good stand, and playing flipper on it could become a real treat...

Yes, I'd be wary of sag too. I think I'd go for 3 separate monitor risers (I have a big desk with the room). All I want is to lift the whole shebang a bit. These stands are all so expensive. VR is the way of the future anyway.

Finally got new stand delivered and built... really happy with it.

I think a few AC racers might recognise the desktop background :)

I thought this was apt
