There's a new version 1.19 of the PLP app to download here: http://xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=758.0

This version doesn't detect cuts on lap 1 of a race session only. This is to allow a little leeway for lap 1 shunts, or where you might have to go off track to avoid an accident. I saw that they do this in the Australian Carrera Cup with kerb hop warnings.

Average Starters Per Round for each season

You can see big dips for the open wheeler seasons. They're just not very popular, unfortunately.

Car: Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017

Season Schedule - starts Mar 14
R1: Mar 14, Paul Ricard WTCC: 2 x 20 laps [DOWNLOAD]
R2: Mar 21, Barcelona GP: 1 x 32 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
-- Mar 28 BYE --
R3: Apr 4, Monza: 2 x 16 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R4: Apr 11, VIR Full Course: 1 x 32 laps [DOWNLOAD]
R5: Apr 18, Silverstone GP: 2 x 14 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R6: Apr 25, Magione: 1 x 49 laps [OSRW PIT MOD]
R7: May 2, New Jersey Motorsports Park: 2 x 28 laps [DOWNLOAD] (Version 1.1, updated 6/4/17)

Qualifying starts at 8:30pm Eastern time, and there is usually a long practice session before that, starting from about 6:00 pm.

Format
One 15 minute qualifying session. Race 1 grid is set by qualifying position; race 2 grid is set by race 1 finishing position.

Sprint rounds: 2 races of approx 30 mins each. No compulsory pit stop. No refuelling allowed.

Enduro rounds: 1 race of approx 60 mins, with 1 compulsory pit stop where tyres must be changed. There is no refuelling allowed. There is no pit window (other than you can't pit on the final lap).

Fuel rate: 1x
Tyre wear rate: 1x

Points
Sprint rounds: 32 down to 1
Enduro rounds: 64 down to 2
1 bonus point for pole position.
1 bonus point for fastest race lap (2 points in enduros)

Penalties
Opening lap major infringements (e.g. avoidable rear hits, unsafe track re-entry causing accidents etc), will be awarded TBD kg of penalty ballast for the first race of the next round only (or a point penalty in the last round).

Weather
Weather will be as per the real world weather at the track on the day + 5 degrees (temperature and cloud cover only). I'll bump up the real world (northern hemisphere) temps a bit so the track isn't too cold.

One thing I will introduce this season is a lap minimum to be classified a finisher. You will need to complete 75% of the race laps to be classified a finisher and to get any points. This is to encourage people to push on if they crash, need to repair damage etc.

This fun run will be to try the supercar option for the next season.

3 x 5 laps, with a 15 min qually prior to each race so you can try different cars. I chose Spa because with the OSRW pit mod [DOWNLOAD], it has 40 pit boxes, so there are more of each car to choose from.

Track: http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/mills-metropark.7222/

I'll put both the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 and the Mazda MX5 Cup together in the early practice session,  so you can jump in and out of each car, then we'll have a separate qually and about 25 min race in first the MX5, then in the Porsche.

I'll update the practice server tonight.

MX5: 13 laps
Porsche: 15 laps

Race 1
There were 4 cars wide approaching T1 - from left to right, Mael, Joe, Nith, Wally. There was one little touch between Joe and Nith, pushing Nith into me, where I spun across the track. It's hard to assign blame to this one - everyone had their gap in front of them, but 4 wide was overall too ambitious. If anything, Nith was overly ambitious trying to squeeze into the gap (as he was coming from further back), but there was room, with Mael doing the same on the left and resulting in us being 4 wide. No penalties.

Race 2
No impacts at all until lap 9!

Congratulations on Phil for the clean sweep in all departments, winning maximum points.

Season Champions
1. Diehard, 350
2. Phil.8, 330 (up from 3rd)
3. Joe & Mael, 312

Congratulations to Diehard on taking out the season, with 1 win and 5 podiums, and an average finishing position of 4.9. A great effort, given that he was often on the receiving end of penalties of either pitstop time or ballast. He never dropped out of the top 3 in the season standings.

Phil climbed steadily up the ladder all season to finish 2nd. Joe also climbed steadily, while Mael was consistenly around 5th with a late charge, with Mugello being his second best points haul.

Team Championship
1. Krahl Racing (Phil.8 and Joe), 642
1. DA Racing (Grat and Wally), 574
2. Maki Engineering (Freezer and Mael), 542

Phil and Joe were too strong as a combination, as the season podium shows.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Season 16 Poll
« on: February 16, 2017, 08:05:54 AM »
You can vote for more than 1 option!

Option 1 - Carrera Cup - Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017

Following the regulations of the Australian Carrera Cup series: a mix of sprints and enduros.
Progressive grid - race 2 order set by race 1 finish position.

Option 2 - Supercar Cup
Choose one of the following cars:
  • Ferrari 458 Italia
  • McLaren MP4-12C
  • Nissan GT-R NISMO
  • Porsche 911 GT3 RS
  • Porsche 911 R
  • Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • RUF RT12 R
  • Lamborghini Gallardo SL
3 x sprints, using best 2 qualifying times for 1st 2 races, race 3 in reverse order of race 2 finish.
You have to swap cars midway through the season.

Option 3 - Mazda MX5 Cup
3 x sprints, using best 2 qualifying times for 1st 2 races, race 3 in reverse order of race 2 finish.

These three options are already up on three of Marty's XGN servers if you want to give the cars a go.

2 x 16 laps at Mugello. Last round of the season!

You will need the OSRW PIT MOD if you don't already have it. Unzip the download into your Steam assettocorsa folder.

It is going to be HOT. First race is air/track 30/38; second race is 37/51. You may need to experiment with your tyre compound choice to suit the conditions.

Penalty Ballast (45kg)
Dave O
Kcender87

Success Ballast
Diehard, 60 kg
Grat, 45 kg
Matthew111, 45 kg
Wally, 15 kg

Although Diehard, who is currently leading the championship, has 60 kg of success ballast, he has a 28 point lead over Joe in 2nd place, which is probably an unassailable lead.

Between Joe in 2nd and Mael in 5th, there's only a gap of 11 points, so there could be some jostling for the final season podium between Joe, Phil, Grat and Mael.

Racing general / SVG on driving GT3's

Quote
“These cars are easy to drive on the limit. You just drive on the (electronic driver) aids,” Van Gisbergen told Supercars.com.

“Those guys do a 2:05s and 2:06s in a Supercar around here and it’s super easy to drive one of these compared to a Supercar.

“You just press the brake as hard as you can and it just stops. It’s a lot less skill and technique than a Supercar.

“When you do a 2:06 in a Supercar compared to a 2:01 (in a GT) here you feel much better about a 2:06. You feel like you’ve really driven a lap (in a Supercar).

“It was cool last year to do it (a 2:01s), but race cars shouldn’t have aids.

“I pray Supercars doesn’t go that way. If we keep gearshifts and no ABS (anti-lock brakes) and no TC  (traction control), it’s a proper race car.

Penalty Ballast (60kg)
RussG

Handicap (Success) Ballast
Because the pit stop delay isn't working reliably all the time, I'm going to switch to a cumulative success ballast, similar to how the pit stop hold accumulates, based on the previous overall round results as follows:

Round Results:
1st = +45 kg
2nd = +30 kg
3rd = +15 kg
4th = -15 kg
5th = -30 kg
6th and lower = -45 kg

So success ballast (for both races of this round, based on the overall round results at Spa), is as follows:
1. Kcender87, 45kg (he wasn't at Spa, but if he was, he would have probably won the round)
2. Phil.8, 30 kg
3. Diehard, 15 kg

In race 1, Grat had gone off the track to the left at Eau Rouge, and as he re-entered, he continued to move slightly to the right, where Diehard was passing at speed, also moving slightly left to get out from behind Joe, and they hit side by side. I think that was just an unfortunate accident, with neither car seeing the other to the side. Grat bounced off the barrier and got airborne, which caused the pileup.

In race 2, RussG ran into the back of Simone, causing him to lose 2 spots, so gets 60kg penalty ballast for the next round.
