Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / S13R5: Baskerville Post-Race Chat« on: August 30, 2016, 10:02:00 PM »
RACE RESULTS
Penalties Race 1, me getting sandwiched was my own fault, really. I was drifting over to the T1 apex and got squeezed between Bacchulum and Rob LTD, and in the pinballing, I spun off while everyone else drove away. Because I was the only one disadvantaged, no penalty. Then Insomniac got into the rear corner of Rob for a while, but looking in cockpit view, it may have been that he didn't even realise he was touching Rob, as the pack was tight. But that spun Rob. I'm calling that a hard to avoid incident. Hornbag lost control at T9, not braking in time to avoid hitting slideways, so because of the clear loss of control, that's a penalty. Race 2, At T1, Freezer hit the back of Rob LTD - penalty. at T7, Bacchulum hit the back of Wally - penalty. Lap 2 (where I'm not officially looking for penalties), Insomniac got into the back of Humper pretty hard at T1, and should have shown more care. Race 3, At T1, Mitchyy hit the back of Grat - penalty. At T5, Ben hit the back of Rob LTD - penalty. There were a lot of rear impact penalties here - which shows that people have to take a little more care braking behind someone into a corner, particularly with reverse grids. Round Points Guybrush Threepwood 74 Ben 62 Mitchyy 62 Marty 56 Matthew111 55 Rob LTD 54 Grat 52 Jeremy 50 Bacchulum 47 Freezer 47 Phil.8 45 Mael 43 Joe 39 Wally 34 Bafs17 29 Insomniac 25 Rob 25 slideways 23 Humper 23 Hornbag 17 Flattop 14 Congratulations to Guybrush on two race wins and the round win in a dominant display, and to Marty for the narrow race 3 win. Season Podium 1. Matthew, 256 2. Jeremy, 243 3. Marty, 237 (moving back up from 4th position). 767
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Fun idea, inspired by the Olympics« on: August 24, 2016, 10:21:52 PM »
Watching the Olympics where athletes get to choose their height or weight attempts gave me an idea for a fun run some time. You could have a qualifying hotlap session where everyone goes out one at a time for one flying lap. You get to nominate how much ballast you want to carry on your lap. Every round, the slowest guy is eliminated, and you can then choose to increase your ballast for the next round. Every round you survive, your ballast gets added to your score. We would restart the qual session each round. The guy with the highest score wins.
I don't know if Guybrush would just win, or how much tactics comes into it when choosing your ballast. 768
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / MID-SEASON CAR SWAP« on: August 24, 2016, 12:05:38 AM »
We have to swap cars for the second half of the season (to balance out ballasted vs unballasted cars).
Anybody who drove a Skyline or a Supra can swap to an RX-7 or the Nissan 370z. Anybody who drove an RX-7 or the Nissan 370z can swap to a Skyline or a Supra. Post your new car choice here. 769

3 x 16 laps at Baskerville, Tasmania.
For this round, we will just be using the standard track (no OSRW pit mod, as I think it's not quite right). So there's 24 pit boxes, but we'll just squeeze in. Weather Forecast (looking like 18 degrees and clear) Entry List Mitchyy Bafs17 Flattop Ben Joe Guybrush Threepwood Hornbag Rob Humper Dave O Insomniac slideways Mael Rob LTD Wally Freezer Grat EdWood Bacchulum hylas Marty Phil.8 Jeremy Matthew111 770

RACE RESULTS
Opening lap incidents: Race 1, EdWood got into the side of Rob, but it was pretty much a relatively unavoidable side-by-side impact. Joe outbraked himself into the 2nd last corner, but was really the only car disadvantaged by an impact, so no penalty. Race 2, Grat was passing inside Dave O under brakes, there was a side-by-side impact with Dave O which pushed Dave into Bacchulum. the pass by Grat was aggressive, but he managed to get all the way alongside Dave O before the impact, so pretty borderline, but I'm calling that an incident. Race 3, I was holding the 2nd last corner very tight, passing Rob LTD on the inside, but oversteered a little on exit and Grat hit my side. Because I was not totally in control on corner exit when Grat hit me, I'm calling that a racing incident. Round Points Matthew111 64 Rob LTD 64 Phil.8 62 Insomniac 60 Jeremy 59 Grat 57 Bacchulum 53 Marty 53 EdWood 49 Wally 48 Mael 45 hylas 42 Mitchyy 39 Humper 35 Dave O 34 Rob 26 slideways 26 Hornbag 20 Flattop 16 Joe 5 Congratulations to Insomniac, Phil (x2) on the race wins, and Matthew and Rob LTD tying for the overall round win. Season Podium 1. Matthew, 200 2. Jeremy, 188 3. Phil, 186 (moving up into 3rd spot). 771
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Future Season Ideas« on: August 21, 2016, 04:10:16 PM »
Here's a place to show your interest in future Tuesday night series. Not necessarily the very next season, but some time in the future, as we rotate through "classes" like road cars, GT, open wheelers, track day cars, hypercars etc.
This is not the "Next Season" poll. This is ideas for future seasons. When the time comes for a new season, I'll choose from a selection of these options to put up a poll for the upcoming season, keeping in mind that I won't do the same style of cars two seasons in a row. If you want to add any more suggestions, post them here. This takes over from the old "bucket list" thread. 772
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / XGN news« on: August 20, 2016, 06:15:29 PM »
SATURDAY - XGN series coordinator Wally Masterson, currently driving a Nissan Skyline in the XGN "Jap Pack" series, has been spotted driving a variety of GT2 cars at several European locations. Wally has been spotted in the Ferrari 458 GT2, the BMW M3 GT2, as well as the Corvette C7R.
"The cars are capable of fairly similar times, although some BOP ballast would be needed to make a fair series," he said. "The Ferrari and the Vette are reasonable close, but the Beemer is a little slower. The cars feel a little different to drive. I think drivers would be able to choose a car they are comfortable with." When asked if he was planning the next XGN series, Wally said it was one of the options he was looking at. "I'm also driving similar GT style cars, looking at other options." he said. 773

Turns some conventional wisdom about using WheelCheck to measure your wheel's linearity on its head. Worth a read. 777
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Change format?« on: August 10, 2016, 08:30:13 AM »
Passing people is fun. Being passed is not so fun. With the current format of all 3 races in reverse standings order, the slowest are always being passed and the fastest are having more fun.
Do you want to change the round format to have the first 2 races only in reverse standings order, and then the 3rd race in order of race 2 finish, to balance out the fun a bit more? 778

RACE RESULTS
Penalties Race 1, lap 1: AJ ran into the back of Hornbag at T1. Mael ran into the back of Grat on the final turn. Race 2, lap 1: Mael ran into the back of Grat at T1, and then later also ran into the back of Jeremy in a separate incident. Race 3, lap 1: Freezer and Jeremy had a probably hard to avoid side-by-side impact that spun Jeremy and then Bacchulum as well. No penalty for that one. Ben was a little over zealous in races 1 and 2, with passes that you could almost call dive bombs. Something to watch out for. Round Points Matthew111 70 hylas 67 Marty 62 EdWood 59 Jeremy 58 Ben 55 Freezer 54 Grat 52 Bacchulum 49 Phil.8 49 Mael 45 Let's Test Drive 42 Wally 36 Rob 32 Humper 27 Dave O 24 Hornbag 24 AJ 21 Flattop 15 slideways 9 Congratulations to Jeremy, Hylas and Matthew for the race wins, and Matthew for the overall round win.
