As for my night I had pretty good pace in a tight field.  Started next to team mate Mael but at the end of the first lap a small lift due to cold tyres saw him go by.  I followed for many laps but the overall story of my night was pretty quick..... but the odd small slip kept hampering my progress, which kind of sucked.  Still fun though and I enjoyed this little roller coaster track!
Overall, a great season.  Mael drove very well for team Maki.  I had my moments and despite me missing a night we came home 2nd.
Thanks as always to Wally :)

In race 1, it ended up being relatively lonely once we settled down, but Keith was in my mirrors the whole time. I made a mistake with a lapse of concentration, and Keith passed on lap 26, only to return the favour when he ran wide and let me past again.

In race 2, it was Joe and Freezer applying the early pressure in my mirrors, with a growing gap to Shayne in front of me. Joe and Freezer held each other up a bit, letting me open up a gap. Freezer had a spin behind me, relieving a little of the pressure. I spun myself a little later, losing 2 spots to Mael and Joe, then my frickin' game grashed - acs.exe has stopped working. I jumped back in to spectate, but stupid me - I should have put in more laps to reach 21 laps and be qualified as a finisher to get any points. That might have cost me one place on the standings. Freezer can thank me later.
No I will thank you now.............Thanks Wally :) :)
p.s. bad luck!

Book a Z4 for me Wally.
Great minds think alike . . . I will have a z4 as well.
However, not one hundred percent confirmed attendance at this stage....

Well in pre race practice I thought it was going to be a disaster.  Couldn't get to much speed and the tight last handful of corners were killing me.
However, once the flag dropped I got away well, grabbed three spots then narrowly avoided team mate Mael spinning (damn shame :( ) and then pushed on.
I couldn't really catch the front guys and after Marty/Grat spun I soon had them hot on my tail.  I was able to them both at bay for around 4 laps each which was
a challenge and from there it was a quiet race.  Kept it pretty clean and came home in 6th, which with 20kg ballast was pretty good..!
My turn this week to hold up the points for Team Maki.... :)

I have my preferences but I will race in whatever is thrown up.  However, what I would like to see is new tracks.
I know some will say mod tracks aren't as good etc etc but in pre AC days we always ran mod tracks of all types and they did the job.
Tracks like Sebring, Le Mans, Road America etc etc would be great to see again if suitable versions can be found!

If people are going to run a longer race then maybe best to just let them pick whatever car they want, there wont be any indication of how many will turn up anyway and forcing people to drive a car they dont want to will likely just limit numbers. There are plenty of GT cars to choose from so there will be some variety, in a longer race like this it wont matter so much which car people chose they will all be close enough that your likely to get a decent finish in any car assuming you have a fairly clean race.

I wouldn't be picking the fastest car anyway to get more of a challenge but there shouldn't be much more then 5 seconds between all the gt3/gt2/gte cars at the longer layouts which at this distance shouldn't matter too much.
With a mixture of cars, subsequent tyre choices and a fuel tank that doesn't get to the end with out at least one refill ensures that people will have various strategies unfolding . . . and keep it interesting!

I'm keen also. Would life to see multiple stops with no restrictions to add greater strategy aspect to the race.   GT cars please...

I've used 40 kg in the past this season, but you're right, it might be fairer to reduce that to 20kg for races which are twice as long, so I'll do that.
Sounds good . . . thanks!

Wally, are the weight penalties reflective of this being one big race?

730
Was hoping for a good result here but it was not to be.
Qualified 13th after having been a bit quicker in practice.
R1:  Got away well but got tagged by Bird into Maggots which spun me and sent me all the way back to 22nd.  From there I pushed hard even dipping into the 2.05 club
and managed to get back around 10 spots.
R2:  One of those moments when you hit the brakes into T1 and go "Oh Sh#t" as everyone is stopping just that bit quicker than you.  With that I promptly hit the rear of Wally.
Some skillful driving saw him catch it and not loose to much.  Sadly a lap later I spun exiting Stowe and hit the wall.  With a right hand down wheel, smashed screen and mostly missing
front spoiler I pushed on.  Drove hard and got bunch of spots but the car didn't really have the pace due to damage.

I did note during the race that I wasn't seeing any track cut info on screen, but the post race results clearly indicate I got time penalties on both races.... :(:(:(   Need to fix that!

Well done to Mael for holding up our team status with a big haul of points.

Very sorry, Freezer, for the shunt early on!  Completely my fault.  I just can't judge the front of the cars properly it seems.
Yes unfortunately it cost me a fair bit . . . but I won't hold that against you  >:(

Did not think I'll make 32 laps after going off on lap 1 but it turned out a rather enjoyable race. Even had some decent passing maneuvers  :)  Great racing all.

Best of all I finished ahead of Wally   :P
Well done Mael, solid points haul for the team!

I had decent pace in practice but didn't quite string a good lap together in qual so started 13th.
Race One was a good start and was chasing the front group when I over corrected a slide at the parabolica and was off loosing a bunch of spots.
Pushed hard for the rest of the race but another bump later on with unfknbelievable when I dropped a wheel on the grass under brakes and turned into him (sorry!).
A poor result meant starting from 17th for race two.  A good jump and I was up to 13 on lap 1.  However I felt like I had lost braking ability so took a few laps to amend
my driving and work around it.  Pushed hard but didn't see to much action after that.

Despite my shitty round, Maki has jumped to 2nd on the leaderboard.  Unfortunately I won't be here next week due to school holidays so going to have to leave it you to
you Mael to carry the team . . :)  :)  (sry)  but will be back for the rest!!

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Thursday Season shakedown - 30-3-17

thanks roo, yes not the fastest, but I had the merc very consistent of a number of laps and I thought if I could hang on the tail of Feezer, knowing him, we would pick up a few on the way, plus I was going to swap to "softs" for the sprint home. I was looking for a pass on Ling when the trouble manifested itself.  I rejoined, but realised I would be in the middle of the pack and 1 lap down... and thought:
"dangerous for all" :)
Looking forward to the season, another nice mix, and feeling a little better now the radiotherapy side effects are reducing, should have some stamina and strength back!

the pit strategy tool is a great addition.
Bad luck Bruce you were on the pace last night.  Good to see yourself and a few others (GW) that I haven't raced against for a while.
Personally, I jumped on at the last minute in the Merc and was pretty tentative under brakes not having had any time but as the laps unfolded things got good.
Had some good laps with Mael, and GW.  Unfortunately I entered the pits in race two but must not have crossed the line prior to the cut off (literally seconds) and was DQ'd.
Like the oldies, so might have to jump in more often :)

My PC has be frequently just restarting, or getting a windows stopcode i.e. WTF.
This got really bad this afternoon and I couldn't get it to start but then I moved my wheel to a different USB and it started.
However this caused the wheel to be re recognised as a two pedal setup and caused more headaches.
Eventually at the dying minutes it started, I jumped in and did two average laps in qual and the race was on.

Started 11th but once the tyres warmed up the front guys seemed to be pulling away and I couldn't keep up.  Had Keith behind for a few laps before he got past and
from there I pushed trying to keep in touch.  Eventually as the race wore on I did get back to with 1-2 seconds but now had Wally threatening from behind also.
The three of us pushed hard, each having the odd little slip  but neither could make a dent and we finished in that order.
Hot hard work, but fun.....
