S13R5: Baskerville Race Chat
« on: August 23, 2016, 11:59:59 PM »
3 x 16 laps at Baskerville, Tasmania.

For this round, we will just be using the standard track (no OSRW pit mod, as I think it's not quite right). So there's 24 pit boxes, but we'll just squeeze in.

Weather Forecast (looking like 18 degrees and clear)

Server is up with temps 16-18 with +-1c randomness so should cover the temps at some point we will run on the night. Should be an interesting round and another great little short track should provide some close racing.

When do you want cars selections to be made by Wally?

I only need them say by next Monday night, so I can update my entry list.

On the practice server? I got errors about model_xxxxxx.ini missing and so on when I tried to start my own server, and no track map. I think the OSRW mod overwrote the original Baskerville track, rather than adding an extra configuration with more pits. Anyway, we don't need the OSRW mod with 24 entrants for this round, so it's safest to just use the original un-modded track to avoid any potential issues.

Practice server should just be the normal track with 24 starters. I will need to change the welcome as I wrote the round will be at the OSRW version but thats not up in the servers. Confusing yes ??? But at least it means 1 person read the welcome note. I will change that later, I never tried the OSRW version or even downloaded it and would have just done that later?

I prefer to keep the stock track up so if non xgn people want to join the server they can by simply searching for the track.

Think I'm gonna try this type of move next race.

Sounds like the OSRW has issues, I never installed it so server cant have that version.

Well its clean but if you dont make it then Wally will slap a caravan to the back of your car. T1 5 wide clean up 4 cars @ 90kg each for a nice 360kg of bonus ballast for next race.

That has to be the best Ive ever seen in any form of racing though, Impressive stuff seeing in rally cross the other guys would have tagged him if they had half a chance.

Looking at it closely it looks like he gets a slight touch on the way through.

This is going to be one tough series of races. 16 laps, not enough time to be too patient but there is nowhere to pass unless mistakes are made. ;) 8)

I did run a few laps on my own late last nite and some this arvo. Jumped on again late with Slideways and even if on my own I could be 1 second faster I never even had a look at a pass. In traffic it will be a bit different again but following close here is very hard to see any brake markers too. Luckily I was in the 370 which is fairly tall so I could get a glimpse of the markers through his rear window but a couple times I didnt and so gave him a little nudge.

It will take patience or the old bump and run, early on will be hectic with most corners being blind entry negative camber apexes. The 370 didnt have the grunt down the straight or the exit out of any turn to really get into position. I ran some laps in the rx7 and was a little slower in that and ran just a handful of laps in the gtr and was quickest so that will be the car to beat. I didn't try the Supra yet here so not sure how they will go, it will be interesting racing. The way I went last week if I gain only 1 spot then I may be happy.

I just need to make sure that Matthew, Jeremy and Phil dont gain any more and let my team mate clean up in the GTR this round. ;)
