The layout is certainly good. I remember a bigger bump near the start line, and the track surrounds are a little bit off, but overall it's pretty good.

Yeah, it was great fun, certainly to experience the massive grip and stopping power. The gearbox was sh*t though, quite hard to find the sloppy feeling gears.

Quick heads up Phil. I think the server needs updating, track wise, I'm still getting mismatched. :-*

Same here, mismatch  ::) getting error messages while loading the mazda rx3 as well, can click past them and still drive car though  :o
First error reads ERROR [content/cars/legion_mazda_rx3/mazda_rx3.kn5 couldn't set texture: DBRA02_WHITEMAP4.dds for marerial:body_bit for slot:tx maps  :o
Similar messages follow this one mentioning lods ? 4 messages in total. Any ideas ????  Cheers Dave O.

Downloaded cars from the Master link, which seems to be the same link as the Season 18 thread.
The links on the main forum page header are different. Which link is the correct one?? Cheers Dave O.

If that's the case it would seem I have the correct link then. Wonder why the RX3 is showing errors?
I checked the files in all 5 cars, and I couldn't see a lod c kn5 file in the RX3 folder, all the others have it.
Could this be my problem? Just a stab in the dark  ::) I'm certainly no expert. Cheers.

No, the Mazda only has three LODs, Top, B and D. That is no C.  :o

Still getting a mismatch Phil.
Please do a clean install of both content and server.
The version you had had errors in it, the Master link contains the most up to date version.

I had not done any updates and I could still join server.
I downloaded trackpack and tried to use CM to install.. would not work..no file found.
I unzipped Mallala and installed using CM.. I now get a checksum error when joining server..

Hope this might help Phil.

So have I, but seeing as it was about 49 years ago I doubt it will give me much of an advantage  ;)
Also used to flag marshal there, back in the Beechey, McKeon, Manton, Geoghegan, Matich days.

Thanks Phil.

Looks like random grid for the race as the timing seems to count out laps, which on this track are quite short. :o

Did a quick 5 laps in each car last night on the server and all worked well .
Not sure which i prefer yet , like the sound of the Escort ( pumped up the subwoofer and when the engine is labouring the deep notes are awesome) , the Datsun is loose and quick and almost like driving a gpl car .  They all seem a little different and have their nuances . Nice work Seanus

I am so far from a setup expert it is embarrassing, that said this was the only car I played with the setup on yesterday in my jet lagged testing session.  A few cars have strange traits that you can drive around but the Mazda seemed slow and strange.. Excellent modelling of real life ... well, it didn't blow up a diff or engine so maybe not.

All I did was drop the gearing to the lowest, add front camber (-1.3 by setting, not realtime reading) and soften the rear springs a click or two.  With that I was able to get to with sighting distance of the other cars with a bit more time in it but not from me.

Interesting. ;) The ONLY difference between the RX-3 and Escort is 4 gears, 5cm narrower and 10cm shorter with inertia to match. Pretty cool that the differences can be felt. Though it makes it bloody hard to calculate BOP. :-[

I recall you mentioned that so found it strange when they all *felt* different.

For example,
Escort steering is lighter for me and seems have have a real ackermanm effect, very noticeable in the 3 slow corners
Getting to power down in T3 in the Alfa is more challenging, car wants kill you in T3 (snap over steer) and transitions to under steers through the fast sweeper at T4
Mazda seemed to lack overall grip requiring trail braking to carry any speed through corners, the others were more point and squirt

Of course, I had been in Bali for 4 days and not slept for 30 odd hours so will probably feel totally different tonight :)

2 races of about 20 mins each, second race reverse grid rolling start with maybe an Enduro thrown in at some point
Qualifying 8.30
Race 1 - 8.45 - 20 minutes
5 minute or so break
Race 2 - 9.10 - 9.15 ish - 20 minutes (reverse grid rolling start)

I am dropping Qualifying down to 8 mins this season,  if this is no good let me know

The hard part with the Mazda is getting a setup you can keep momentum up so it doesn't die in the arse on you

I have just started looking into going to Bali for a week or 2 over winter but have never been before and don't know where to start, any tips or recommendations would be cool. I was going to use somewhere like flight centre, but I don't want to give them money for something I could book myself

Well done AB, some serious pace!

Had an interesting night. Kept on losing the car on the entry into the right hander after the pit straight. Only to realize on the final few laps that I was triggering the pit lane speed limit by going to wide on entry :o
Also well done to some of the newer drivers, some hard but clean battles.

Obviously a good night for me, not sure why.

I was really focused on keeping the car straight so really balancing on the brakes on corner entry.  A change fro 25% to 50% on the coast side of the diff helped a lot for the second race.  Never really got to see if there was a better lap time in it but much more consistent.

Race 1 was uneventful, I was glad to finally get the '13 that I was chasing, I think I need up doing the same lap time twice.

Race.2 was fun.  Wife is away on business, the cat came in and jumped on my lap as we were doing the warmup lap (would normally yell and get "service" :) ) so had to quickly jump out of the seat and lock it out by which time the "green" had been called, In some ways it probably helped as the field had spread out a little by the time I caught up.  Had some good racing helped by Bacchulum having a few bumps along the way.  Had one moment where I lost the rear trying to pass AGK, as I tried to redress there was a mess behind - hope I didn't cause.  Finally chased down Phil with 1 lap to go, didn't think I was going to get there a his lap times were falling in the last 1/3 of the race.

Off to Sundown, a place I know well. Racing will be intense there.... better get that rear end stable.
