Apps / Re: Camber Extravaganza 2.1
« on: March 14, 2018, 11:41:11 AM »
With this app, are you guys that run a low negative camber eg 1.8F 1.5R, getting a fair amount of red flashing on the tyre model? I haven't used the graph thing yet, but during my brief testing I tried to set it up so that I had almost zero red, which meant more aggressive negative camber. Is this what you guys are trying to achieve or do you compromise, a bit of red to get more green? Also at this track curb hopping seemed beneficial which also meant way more red and equally more negative camber to compensate. With my sway bars set to something like 14F 4R I needed camber about -2.8F and -1.8 to avoid red while curb hopping, but of course straight line braking suffered. I ended up racing with 1.9F 1.2R (I think). What you guys think? It's all compromise for sure, but you know...how much

Q. Mid qualifying Bacchulum did a 360 right in front of me just after finishing line, don't know how that happened but I nowhere to go and t-boned. Had to start again on cold tyres.
R1. Going well on tail end of the lead pack until about lap 8, couldn't keep the car straight, looked up and realised I was the only one on softs. They got worse, I got worse, Wally got past easy. Just tried cruise home with the gap I had behind me.
R2. Hard tyres...Awesome racing tailing Russ with Keith on mine, immense pressure from behind gave me the urge push also. Both Russ and I got a little wide at different points of back fast kinks. I had the opportunity to get up along side Russ at the entry of the tight right but blew it by being cautious and thought the opportunity was still there for the exit. It probably was but we were on different lines and really close, unfortunately I gave a small tap and sent Russ off. Felt like an ass, redressed and very sorry about it Russ. Felt like I drove the tyres off it after that to try catch the pack that went by from the incident. All in all still a good fun night racing with you all. Thanks

I don't get why some people are being so negative about the game. Seems to me it's an opportunity for them create a new engine which they can then use to deliver AC2 and in the meantime we'll get to see what it's like in ACC. I'll buy it, and I doubt very much it will take long at all for mods to appear.
Believe me, if I had the spare cash I'd be all over it, just for the rain. 8)
But times are tough, and if I need to buy W10, that will probably tip the balance to "wait for what I really want". :'(
You can run win 10 without a licence, but you can pick one up at websites like gamesdeal.com for around 35. I'd chip in to help out anyone here for the game

Good fun racing with you guys, really good side by side with gratulin (bad luck mael). Coming off night shift again, just downloaded the track and no practice at all. About half way through the first race I found a groove but being at the back of the pack for race one put me in a good position for two. Used Phil's set-up off the server, thanks for that it felt pretty nice to drive.

Ahvenisto from the the GT Legends series could be good Phil.
Good tracks in that series, which track did we do the practice race before the season. Had an up hill right hander into blind chicane over crest from the start/finish line

Some FAQs https://505games.com/assetto-corsa-competizione-community-faq-blog
I think that it's limited content would be made up for with the new features and graphics and it's not like they're taking ac away from us. I'll buy it.

Oops, one of those is race07

Is the lime rock track available as a mod?, remember doing a bunch of laps in the mx5 when I played around with iracing years ago, might suit these cars

200° is a bona fide scam. The lenses would need to wrap that much around your eyeball.

Fun fact about the human eye:

For both eyes combined visual field is 135° vertical and 200° horizontal.
so I do have eyes in the back of my head after all!
Didn't see me coming...twice lol joking...joking

It's a conspiracy I tells ya. I think I am predestined to miss out on any Caterham Season. lol.

I'll try and make it, but even if I do I will probably not complete a race.

My internet connection is going from bad to worse and Optus tell me its my modem. NBN are going house to house laying connections and I have to buy a new ADSL modem. Poo!!!
They should supply you with a replacement? I've heard the adsl line filters can play up, got any spares?

Yeah good fun mid field battles! Wally I don't think you needed to redress for that one, gratulin came across at me after he ran wide, all good though it's just racing. These cars though, for me, I can't seem to squeeze that extra bit out of them. Maybe, like usual, towards the end of the season lol.
Also, being back at work I'll only be able to do every second round, thanks guys enjoying it!
I think I was trying to leave room but also trying to defend a bit. When I accelerated the car seemed to turn into the centre of the corner hitting Bueller. I also got Bueller, I think it was him, in Race 1. Maybe a good idea to stay clear of me in future Bueller?
It's all good, racing incident. Both incidents were very similar, in fairness I thought you would have held your line (it's what my crew chief/spotter told me to do lol) not swerve to block with a car next to you. Like I said no big deal I've made some mistakes here too.
Good fun, I noticed the difference in tyres, I ran with soft even though they rooted by the end they were still good under heavy braking. Didn't even bother trying mediums, since last time I switched mid session (F1's) my lap times were killed and I pretty much got left behind lol

Edit: swerve to block, is a bit harsh. I enjoy racing with all you guys and hope to keep it that way...hope I'm not coming across as arrogant...the internet lol
Not arrogant at all and it was a swerve (unintentional)!! I meant to move over a little to block “somewhat” but well before you were beside me. Totally misjudged your acceleration out of the last corner. I think my normal line is across the track down that straight and adding a “little move” turned it into a swerve.
I found during the race that if I braked late and deep/wide I could get a good run out of the last two corners and that's also where the soft tyres came in handy, since the fronts weren't completely wrecked near the end of the race, struggled to keep up with everyone through the rest of the circuit 3/4 in

Not a super opening round for me. I was a bit off the pace anyway, qualifying 13 with a little more pace on the softs. In the first race, I unfortunately got turned around by Phil who came into the hairpin too hot, and that cost a few places all the way down to 17th. Then I was caught out by being faster than Dave O down the hill, and when he ran wide at the bottom of the hill, I tried to go right to make a pass but ended up oversteering off the track into the barrier, putting me last. I managed to get back to 15th, but that was worse than I started and not a great result.

Race 2, after watching the replay, I saw what happened with Bueller. Gratulin bumped Bueller into me at the hairpin, and sent Bueller off the track. I wasn't sure what had happened, so I slowed to redress Bueller just in case, but needlessly let 3 cars past. The end of the race was quite intense, some good battling with Bueller and Bacchulum, and between Keith and Phil on degrading tyres. Keith ran wide on the final turn and I managed to sneak past. Came home in 11th, moving up 4, so that was better.
Fun racing, only problem was it was my team mate's rear wing I was looking at the whole night!

Just couldn't get my braking into the slow corners right in the first race, especially into the second last hairpin. Apologies to Russ for nearly taking him out, good awareness Russ! And Freezer for the same mistake a few laps later, cost us a lot of positions.  :(  Race two was better, even managed to make a pass or two on Freezer, unfortunately I kept donating the position back to him.

Looks like the midfield battles are going to be good this season.
