I think the beta driver was impressed. Coincidentally the Cooper was my favourite car in GPL.

Brilliant mod  :) :) has some things that need fixing, but it is just great following the other cars around and seeing the amazing detail 8). The AC modding community is now also giving some extra love to 1967 F1 season tracks  :).

Yeah  ;D did some laps against the AI, bought back some memories of GPL  :) Bit of work to do on a couple of cockpits, but great mod.

The AVRP mod has been updated to v 1.2 , Some extra cars added also  ;) Really liking this mod as well. Might also be worth a run on Thursday ?

Half the mirrors were mirrored.  :P

Bugfixes:
- Fixed swapped mirrors
- Improved A-arm fixing points (Brabham, Eagle, Honda)
- Fixed steering wheel position on Honda and Brabham
- Swapped Honda engine sound
- Added shift delays for flappy paddle shifters.

ToDo, mid/ long term:
- Model upgrades for BRM, Cooper and McLaren (quickfix for Mc could be skinning an Eagle)
- LOD's for BT24, Eagle Honda
- Improve sounds

Small Status update:
The mirrors seem to be fixed, left/right issue on some cars. This is without 'realmirror' app running (shaderpatch). I suspect the small width of the cars to play a role in it. The sightlines crossing is really close behind the player in VR, giving the illusion things are mixed up in VR. However, when I move my head close to the mirror it reflects the correct tracksides. Hence the angle of the mirror has to be adjusted when using 'real mirror' app wich is possible with the BLM car app (be aware = fps eater).

DrDoomslab send me updated models with corrected steering position on BT24 and Honda, and subtle adjustments on A-arm mountings on some cars. Finally we swapped the Honda sound... If someone has better samples, please contact me. The choices of vintage high rpm engine samples are very limited in AC...

As stated in the PDF, we will continue to develop the mod, however we're just with the two of us and have a real life besides simracing, so things take time and like all humans we make errors. More help is always welcome!

Posts from F1 Classic forums

BobDobbs
I think they all sound great now.

What's absolutely shocking to me is that, while the cars all feel quite a bit more stable on the road, I'm still turning lap times very close to what I did with GPL - and yet I now feel it's possible for me to push a little harder. In GPL, I was right on the hairy edge and knew that the car was about to snap out of control if I even breathed too deeply.

Maybe this is still a problem for the purists, but it feels much more like a race car with proper tires in this version.

Glad you like it BobDobbs... Many people confuse more feedback with more grip. The slipangles (however a bit less exxagerated) and lateral G's are pretty similiar with GPL I think, so are laptimes and corner entry/ exit speeds. Adjust the track grip from optimal to old and it gets a whole different ballgame Smile

Being an amateur racer myself (nowadays only on two wheels, four wheels has gotten too expensive where I live unfortunately) I'm always hunting for more real/ natural edge grip /behaviour where I can properly lean on the tires and trailbrake and rotate the car in. Same goes with counter steering input and most sim's behaviour. Of course you have to be fast and on time with your inputs, but most sims making it way more difficult than in real life due to the (too steep) drop off in grip beyond peakload. I think this is the effect of years and years copying old, redudant textbook curves, instead of testing through empirical research and analyze and validate your own perception. I hate the digital edge grip still present in modern sims, the drop off in grip at max load is way to sudden with e.g stock kunos tires or ISI tires, when compared with my RL experience. That's why I started modding in first place, trying to recreate the natural feel I experienced myself. Many simracers don't want a realistic experience, they want a difficult skill game...

I agree with Bazza on sudden "drop off" of grip levels.
