Was quite an enjoyable night, I was a bit tired last night after work and had a bit of a nap when I got home, maybe I was still half asleep during the races since I did get involved in a couple crashes. Sorry ab for the rear ender in race 1, I just couldn't pull up in time. Luckily it was straight on and no one went off track. Also sorry to RussG for the spin, we discussed this after the race but I thought I would throw out another apology anyways.

I don't know how you guys were managing to run the softs for so long. I was feeling that the mediums were quite worn by the end of it and during qualifying I had melted the softs so they were certainly a no go during the race.

I think I had the back end hanging out a bit more then most people, which is probably why my tires were feeling quite old by the end of the races. I had played with the front arb during practice and found a solution to the snap oversteer I was getting originally in this car. Also because of the changes to the arb, I was able to lower the traction control, I was trying to get rid of as much as possible as I felt there was time to gain in the last two corners since the traction control was getting in the way of my corner exits. Also, having next to no traction control made for some exciting driving :D

Count me in, thanks Wally! :D

A question to VR users, are you actually looking left and right in a situation like that or are you just focusing on your race line?

I do sometimes, usually down a straight or somewhere that I feel comfortable looking away from the direction I'm going. Mostly though I'm just watching the racing line and helicorsa is right in the middle of my windscreen so I most definitely know if someone is still beside me.
Looking at that replay, I wouldn't of been looking out the side window. I would of kept my eyes on what's going on in front of me.

Race 2 - Shayne ran into the back of ab156 - 50kg penalty ballast for the next round.

Yeah that's understandable. I wasn't even thinking about braking early, just going for my normal marker and didn't consider that maybe braking early would be wise with many cars in front of me... Sorry ab.

Might have to get the triple screen setup going for this race tomorrow and probably most of this season I think.

It just gets too hot out in the garage with the oculus on. It's just that there's no airflow going to my face and I only lasted about 10 laps tonight before I started getting drips of sweat running down around my eyes, which in turn can't be wiped without losing vision so back to the screens seems like the best option until it cools down a bit.

Good luck everyone for tomorrow night, cya you all on track :D

Yep, I'm up for this :)

Hardware & Reviews / Re: Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel

I put in a warrenty job early this year with Fanatec and my only communication with them was through email. Actually I think it was all through their website support ticket thingy. From what I remember they were pretty quick to response.

Thanks Wally, another great season.

I thought I had a good feel for the lambo and felt that I started well in the season but as we proceeded through, I found myself having to keep making changes to the car and wishing I had gone with something like the nissan instead.
What I really struggled with was finding a good compromise in setting up my gears. Too short and I could be hitting the limiter when in a draft, too long and I won't be getting up to speed as fast as I could.
Also, during the practice run before the season. I felt very comfortable in the lambo, really felt like I could drive more aggressively then many of the other cars and it was also fast. I never had doubts until about half way through the season and then started getting quite nervous about keeping the back end planted.

The last race of the season was still a lot of fun, in hindsight I probably should of put a bit more aero on but I thought I had plenty since my rear wing was at 7.

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: TeamSpeak problems

+1 for discord

Tuesday night races are the only thing I have teamspeak installed for. All other communities I'm involved in have moved over to Discord.

That was an intense night. The GT field seemed to all get through the start without an issue.

I had RussG behind me at the start and we ended up battling for most of the race. There were moments when others like Joe and Killa were in range for me to try a risky overtake but thought better of it.  I wasn't really thinking about pit strategy but after having Russ sitting under a second behind me for most of the first stint and then him being able to overtake me. I started thinking of a strategy to get that position back.

I only fueled for half the race (a bit extra actually) I wanted to see RussG go into the pits before me so I could get back ahead of him as he would be on a slower lap with the cold tyres. RussG pitted on the lap which I was initially going to pit on, I looked at my ptracker and I had 1.2 laps of fuel left, so I pushed for another lap. Turns out that lap also had a couple GT3's just ahead of me take their stop when I did, Joe being one of them. We came out of the pits and it looked like about 5 cars were trying to take T1 all together, I was on the tail end of this, and the strategy worked. I was ahead of RussG by a couple seconds, but that disappeared quickly as the large grouping of cars slowed us all down a little bit and once again, I had RussG on my rear.

A couple crashed ahead allowed Russ and I to gain some positions and I was looking forward to getting a podium but with a couple laps to go. I wasn't paying attention to the road (watching an lmp1 car zoom passon the front straight) and completely missed T1. I had to turn and overshoot the corner to avoid killa ahead of me as I wasn't going to stop, which let RussG take an easy position and get a podium finish.

Nice racing guys, I was buggered by the end of that one. Nice pressure RussG, I was watching you most of the race and you did well to keep it together and patiently wait for the opportunities to arise, which in the end worked out well for you :D

This might blow your mind, but Grat and Gratulin are two different people.

On that - what is the sign I should be getting and where would it be in VR (I have to look around even for flags :P) to tell me im cutting?

There's a 0/3 Warning thingy that you can place where ever you want, there's also a red dot thing that appears if you've gone off track. If you enter back onto the track whilst that red dot is still showing then you'll get a warning. On the 4th warning you get the penalty then it starts again.

If you look through the PLP forum topic, wally has listed some updates implemented throughout the versions. One of the big things you need to understand about it, is that once you go offtrack, you won't get a warning straight away, you'll get it once you come back on a racing surface without slowing down. So make sure you slow down enough before entering back onto the track to avoid warning for little offtracks.

The problem with Silverstone, is that there's some corners where there's a bit of grass and then further offtrack is more tarmac that the app considers to be racing track. I got a couple warning tonight for missing a corner and not getting the chance to slow down because a split second later I'm back on a racing surface.

I also run with VR, and I have the warning thing sitting kinda of on the bonnet, so it's very clear when that red dot pops up I know I need to slow down before re-entering.

Hey, you have the same rig as me :)

The only thing I have different compared to that picture is that I've swapped the shifter and keyboard swivel thingy to the opposite sides

I'll go with the Lambo, thanks Wally
