Title: AC Track Grip
Post by: Bacchulum on July 07, 2018, 02:20:55 PM
Once upon a time, a Thursday I believe, there was a discussion between Wally, Seanus and myself about track grip.
I felt the racing line had more grip while Wally and Seanus assured me it was placebo, and the track grip was homogeneous.
To paraphrase, "AC's track grip is not that sophisticated".

I must be missing something or I'm very susceptible to placebo.
Drive the wet version of Goodwood (link below) and tell me the grip level is homogeneous.
That the slippery puddles are placebo. ???

I still believe that track grip can be variable and therefore a grippier racing line is possible. :-\

Fake Wet layout is included for wet track placebo, don't be surprised that it is so slippery, 1"50 is a fast laptime at Goodwood when it is wet. Use alternative lines to get more grip, optimum lines has less grip. Pretty much first time in simracing when you'll have to search for grip in circuit :)

From what's new;

.....SEPARATED PHYSICAL MESH to represent rubbered and polished tarmac on normal racing line......

That's the trick.

It's always been possible, only the author is the first to do so.

p.s. Wet shaders have only been recently done also.

Yep, this track has separate surfaces within the visible track area, but that's not the norm.
