Title: 23-05-2019 Thursday night awesome amazing spectacular fun for all
Post by: Phil.8 on May 16, 2019, 04:06:31 PM
I am going to hold fun runs for a while as we don't really have the numbers anymore for championships

The server will be setup for no practice with 10 mins of qualifying and short 10 or 15 min races.
If anyone hates this format let me know.

Even though it will only be like 8 lap or something, whatever works out to be 10 or 15 mins of racing, I would like to spice it up a bit by making the fuel usage and tyre wear high enough to force a pitstop, so if anyone gets the time to test what fuel and tyre wear I would have to make the server to make this possible would be really helpful as I probably wont get around to doing that until next Wednesday.

Again if anyone hates this idea let me know and I will make it just short races with no pitstops,  I was just thinking something a bit different might add a new element to the game

Disappointed I'm away for work tonight. Would have liked to have tried the Skippy.  Enjoy!
Make sure to post what you thought of the mod :)

Not sure if you know but you can open the fanatec driver software and check the box to use sequential as paddle buttons (or something like that)

x7 fuel will require a splash & dash to do 8 laps.
I'll test tyre wear offline with a multiplier, so I have to do less laps. :P

x5 is max multiplier offline in CM.
Tyres wear quickly to 80% (tyre wear scale 13 in Sidekick) but then the deg. rate slows down.
Rears went quickly, giving a big imbalance, but around lap 4 the rears plateaued while the fronts kept at the higher rate, slowly bring the balance back.
Therefore, as the race wears on and balance comes back it would be better to stay out than pit for new tyres.

I say, max out fuel and tyre multiplier, and even if it doesn't force a pitstop, it will add variability.

Hey Phil, I downloaded the Skippy from link above and works fine offline, but says

car missing in CM when joining server. Has been a recent update to Skippy to 1.1

wondering if server is still original version?  Cheers Dave O. ;)

I have maxed both at at 500%  which is the max the server will allow

Hopefully the update hasn't changed the validity of that testing, we'll find out in the morning. ;)
Running 500% fuel will at least force a full tank, and the ensuing change in feel is it burns off.
Maybe someone can pull a (Gordon) Murray and make a pit stop work. ;)

The only problem is if someone downloads the mod late, like say on Thursday, they will get a version later than the server.

And the update is said to improve PC performance, an issue for me!  :-[

I did a race with Mael last night and was a lot of fun,  I picked this combo because I had driven it a lot in iracing many moons ago and even though it was such a long time ago it seems very very similar, the car is easy to spin just like a skippy should be :)  its all about racing lines, apex and exits in this gutless little beast.

I have removed the 500% tyre wear and fuel usage because carrying all that extra fuel and having all that extra tyre wear took a bit of fun out of these cars for me and just made it a compulsory pit stop which you must change at least tyres, I am doing fuel and tyres because I can  8) ;D and fuelling takes a fraction of the time a tyre change takes.

Really need longer races for fuel usage and tyre wear to work imho

I pitted 2 laps before mael and we were close to each other at that point, but when I came out I did a few fastest laps and was like 4 seconds behind mael after his pit stop, so I am not sure if the undercut works here,  we both overshot our pits, maybe I overshot mine more, who knows, time will tell  :o 8) ::)
