I'll see if I get some time to join you guys for a run tonight, being a Thursday night racer I haven't had time to walk the track yet, so might hang down the back of the pack  :o

Have any of you guys had experience with these cars?  Maybe a recruiting season running these cars on some classic australian and NZ tracks?  I could do up a flyer if we did up a schedule and post it on some facebook groups to potentially recruit a few folk?

I haven't had a look at them (I've downloaded them) have any of you guys had any experience with them?   Didn't know if there is anyone would get their knickers in a knot if we ran with them, I'm sure Seanus would know.

Server is telling me "Ferrari 312/68 is obsolete (installed: 20200512; server runs: 20220213)".  And that is downloaded/installed from the server.

Ok so I'm pretty much done, still a bit of tweaking and tidying up to do.

Was it worth the effort?  I think so, certainly added a level of immersion that wasn't there before.  Would I fork out big $$ for buttkickers, I can't say that I would, although I only have a home made rig so I think the bass shaker setup is comparative of the whole rig really.  Considering I did a 4 x transducer rig for about the same price of 1 x buttkicker I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Final Parts list was
- 2 x Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shaker transducers ($180 for 2 delivered) - 1 under the chair, 1 on the back of the chair
- 2 x Dayton Audio TT25-8 puck transducers ($62 total) - both under my pedals for left and right hand wheels
- 1 x 24V/10A power supply ($29 delivered)
- 4 x 100W Mono channel TPA3116D2 amplifier boards ($52 delivered) - 1 amplifier for each channel
- 4 x 40mm x 40mm Female/female isolation bobbins for my sim chair  ($42 delivered)
- 2 x clipsal 3.5mm wallplate jacks and a wallplate ($15) (to go on the side of the my chair)
- 1 x IEC320 C14 AC inlet with switch ($12) (just to go on the side of my chair)
- 2 x 3.5mm leads to run from computer to side of chair $20

Total $412.

I attached a photo of where I placed the transducers on my chairs, including the isolation rubbers.    Also attached a photo of the amplifier board I made up, that mounts in the box under my seat (you don't see it at all).  The amps do not run hot at all, it is quite surprising how much grunt they have for such a little board.

I didn't take any photos of the puck transducers mounted under my pedals, if anyone was interested I can post a photo.

Also if anyone is interested I'm happy to share my simhub settings that I'm using, still tweaking it a bit but I'm pretty happy with the results so far.  It is awesome to actually feel when your wheel is locking up, quite handy for adjusting the brake bias.

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Season xx - Alfa vs Lancia
« on: March 10, 2022, 03:34:58 PM »
After a quick drive today the Lancia at 5kg/hp is a fair bit quicker than the Alfa at 6.6kg/hp.

I did a few laps in both at a track I was relatively quick at (Reservoir Mini Track Reverse) and the best lap times (after 3 laps) I got in both were
Alfa 01:34.23
Lancia 01:34.61

They certainly both drive differently to one another, and I do agree that the Lancia should/would be quicker, but I don't think it will take much adjustment to get them very similar.

Anyway, another option could be (as I suggest it would be a lot easier and more fun), is to do a Austin Healey Sprite (Race) vs Austin Mini Cooper S FIA App.K.  It may actually attract a few of the other guys back for a season as well (ie Cooper and the other lads).

No probs. I was really targeting the Alfa as it seems like a great but tough little car to drive. It revs out really well! The lancia is just another option with totally different driving dynamics that should be of comparable pace?

I’d be interested to hear peoples thoughts on the combos anyway, it’s certainly not a Seanus or Roo compilation, but could be entertaining, or at least something to start with.

Cool!  I'm going for a left/right under the seat setup, because I assume that I will end up really liking it putting some smaller transducers/pucks around the pedals for some front effects to get a full four corner setup.  That's another reason why I went with individual mono amp boards, because they are cheap if they fail, and I can easily expand the system by just adding another amp board (the power supply will be big enough to run quite a number of them).

I bought a licence for simhub this morning, seems the most practical solution other than forking out a heap of money for SRS or Simvibe.

FYI just thought you guys would be interested, I'm going to have a crack at installing some tactile transducers under my chair so I can feel the rumble, gear change thump etc.  Apparently it goes very well for a VR setup. I thought I would document the install and parts list if it benefits anyone else.

I've gone the cheaper DIY option rather than forking out for the buttkicker, and the below setup is going to be alot easier to expand if I want to.

I just ordered
- 2 x Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shaker transducers ($180 for 2 delivered)
- 1 x 24V/10A power supply ($29 delivered)
- 2 x 100W Mono channel TPA3116D2 amplifier boards ($26 delivered)
- 4 x 40mm x 40mm Female/female isolation bobbins for my sim chair  ($42 delivered)

When I get it I'll make a little box up, so should be able to do the whole install for <$300, and that will be 2 x transducers.

Will update when I get the parts / start the install.
