Formula 1 2015 Sellout to Foxtel
« on: February 13, 2015, 07:38:39 PM »
Tough luck if You like F1 as TEN have sold off half the races to Fox. TEN will show half of the races live and only 1 hr highlights
for the rest. Sneaky underhanded move announcing this 1 month before the season starts.

Looks like I'll be downloading the races at least a day later or try to find a streaming service that looks at least as good as
SD tv.

Like the V8 Supercars.
I wonder how hard F1 will work to knock off downloads. It is really hard to find WRC any more. It used to be on YouTube.

I read that the deal starts in 2016. Plus Ten will have delayed or highlights package for other races. Hope I am correct on this?

Damn. I was relying on the Tele being wrong! But according to them it a big win for us diehard fans:

"In a big win for the sport’s diehard fans, Fox Sports will air the entire 2015 season lock, stock and barrel, with every race, qualifying and practice session set to be shown live and in high definition for the first time in Australia.

With just a month until the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park, Foxtel, Fox Sports and Channel 10 have combined to sign a new five-year deal for the Australian broadcast rights.

Heading into their 12th year of covering the sport, Ten will continue to show all 20 rounds of the 2015 championship on free-to-air, but only 10 of the races will be shown live.

The remainder will be shown as one-hour highlights packages at 9.30pm on ONE on the Monday night after the race in a move similar to the Ten/Fox V8 Supercars deal."

There'll be a highlights package on 10 on Monday night after. Probably crappy FOXTEL quality though.

I believe Fox is just redistributing SkyTV coverage.
TEN will have the same.
