I guess that's the optimal shifting, huh? Taking power and torque into consideration?

Good to be back!

Had about 15 minutes practice once I got my mic/speakers setup properly.  Made some changes to the setup before the race without testing, which felt OK but didn't seem that quick (it is never the driver!).

I had to pull over and take a phone call a few laps into the race, and then afterwards I realised I still had the mic around my neck so apologies to those that were subject to a random conversation with a luggage courier (bloody airline lost my luggage).

Thanks for the night.  They seem like fun cars.

I asked you to read out your credit card number, but you must not have heard.

Main reason I didnt have factory tc as I think its actually considerably slower, more people seem to have trouble not realizing its on then people wanting to use it.
Yeah, surely most people turn it off, but I like to leave everything on factory settings and leave the choice up to people.

Yeah, better throw my name in your ring Wally, if your ring is suitably ready to have me.

I 'm not sure I'll be a full-time participant though, however I'll be sure to give notice.

4 months off have made me very rusty so I hope to receive some assistance, possibly a tow from Marty.

With big pit box capacities now, it's less important for me to know when people can't make it. There's room for everyone.

I  fiddled with the gearing, bit it didn't feel quite right.  I used the new Race Essentials app which wanted me to shift at 6000 rpm, at peak power.

Wally, I was changing at 7000 rpm. According to the car specification page max torque was at 5K and max power at 6k. I changed the gearing so that changing at 7k was right in the range of max torque. It didn't help much as you were still faster than me on the night, but I had some great (albeit lonely) fun.

Its nice not to be at the rear of the field as is my usual style.

I think that as ppl get used to the car it will tighten up the field for some close racing.

rob

But Max torque was 5k, not 7k?

I had a couple of slip ups at turn 1 too, spinning once because if the outside kerb, giving Rob a chance to catch up.

Thanks. It was only the Skyline affected. They fixed something in the suspension.

Hey Marty, it's 1x fuel, but the cars need updating because of the 1.7.4 release tonight.

Also, can you allow factory TC?

Ok will do later tonight when the server is empty. I moved the jap pack cars to the xgn server but left all the settings from last round so 4.6x fuel and rather hot. Means the times set on the short track will be abit slower then earlier.
Make it 1x fuel if you can too.

Variable grip is good. This will be for people to choose a car more than anything.

I think most guys did the same in the Ferrari, filled it up, ran to lap 14 or 15, then you only needed to top it up to 60l or so to get home. Even that took a reasonable amount of time to refuel. Your Lotuses must have felt like an eternity.

My stop took nearly a minute and that was running maybe 2l more fuel then required for the full distance so that was cutting it very tight. Had I had any damage I probably would not have made it on fuel.  ;)

Here is a race 1 video, I added the pedals app but it doesnt show clutch use and so my roll forward makes no more sense in the video then it did to me.

My passes on Bacchulum and Mael were fairly late dives, but both of those I had no intention of really making a move until well into the brake zone when they gave left more then enough room to squeeze in. Bacchulum either ran wide or left too much room so I took the apex.

Mael eased off the brakes quite a lot too and so the apex was free and I took it. He did start to squeeze me though so I had to turn in tighter to avoid contact. I wonder if that would be a legal pass? I probably had 4 wheels off the track at 1 point but was forced off the road, the move was late by me but so was the squeeze.

Pass on Bacchulum was 21:30 and Mael 26:00

Most of my passes were simply not planning a move but the guy ahead missing the apex so I took it. Passing wasnt the easiest thing here but was doable just.
You carry a lot of speed through the corners, hitting the apexes beautifully. Maybe that was the Lotus, the Ferrari felt like it needed more nursing through the corners.

I thought the pass on Mael looked fair.
