I'd like to test this news system a bit more, just post more news - preferably shorter ones, not like that elf one - and let's see if they push the old shit out.  I reckon they should at some point.

LOL, that's mental :D

This could actually be a "news" item!  Do you want me to put it in the news section?

Yes. Because the hotlap is valid ( and I double checked ). I will try turning ABS off with keyboard shortcut.

EDIT: sorted thanks. Your own laptimes show in RED. That made me think it was invalid since I had got an invalid message earlier.

LOL ahem, italian design...:D

Just kidding.  But these guys have a few things in there that are similarly not the most user-friendly solutions.  Just write to them, maybe they'll fix it at some point - it's still in development, after all.

Well, you can join the xtr group  (or xgn? I'll have to check...) and then look for people in there.  But since a lot of people use different names in different programs, it's not always easy. :)

You mean this group?

Yep, that's the one.

Ok, Guybrush, I've added you, but gosh; the search for you name returned close to 500 hits!

Well, they are all unoriginal copy-cats then.  :P

Is there an easier way to find people? You'd think there would be a unique code or something for each Steam account.

I would like a Ferrari in bright red.
You can have a Ferrari in race 2 (I'm balancing the cars).
And only in yellow, all the red ones are taken! :D

LOL Wally, that's a new method of responding...I almost did that a few times, too, mind you :D

McLaren please.  Do we swap cars between races or is it same car for both?

Actually better make mine the Ferrari, for some reason my mind was set on the MP4/12C GT3

Thanks.
As in the opening post, you have to swap cars. :)

It's simply Ysu, not "in the name" :)
But no worries, I'll try to find you next time.

we're testing the server currently - try to catch it during booking, there's a good 10-12 ppl on every time.
You can also come on TS - easier to find out when to join :)

Why don't we just fire up a bigger race server on race nights for roughly a buck an hour, rather than a long term permanent server? That's what I was thinking.

I'm going to try to jump on tonight, 8-ish for some laps on the micro server. Let's see if we can get a few people on it and see how the micro copes.

Yeah, just exploring the potential setups and their costs...:)
I'll try to make it tonight.

...it could have been easy to call it a night and blame AC.

We reserve that mentality for work!  :D

don't forget that you only get the micro instance free under these conditions:
- new AWS accounts (one year limit)
- only ONE micro instance at a time
- also, only certain instance images, but this is irrelevant here I think, we don't want to run anything crazy

edit: although, it still only costs $15/mo to run a micro "on demand" server, but if we plan to do it all-year-round, it's better to get a "reserved" instance.   It roughly halves the price with a one-year heavy reserved instance (in this case, to $6.70).

Along these lines, we could get a 3-year reserved instance, of m.medium (the 3.7GB one) one-off upfront payment of $370, and then $18.30/mo.
That's effectively $28.5/mo.
