Post by: Gratulin on January 17, 2015, 10:21:56 AM
"This 3D-track was upgraded for gMotor2 by NeelJ and was converted and enhanced to Assetto Corsa by Rainmaker. Original authors are Zero-g & IDT for F1 Challenge. Permission was granted by NeelJ. Thank you!"

Curbs seem flat? Seem to remember huge curbs on TV?

Yeah, the chicane sequence really throws the cars around.

The curbs did get bigger over the years, can't remember what they were like in 2004 though. :-\

Nothing like the current track, kerbs make this place and this version has painted flat patches unlike the real thing.

Here is the track in 1998 still nothing like this version, kerbs were a little smaller but still proper kerbs.

The good thing about Rainmaker is he will add these features in future releases  :)

Actually I don't think he will as he doesn't do any modeling, he just converts the tracks as they are. I think if you were making a track thats famous for its kerbing and release painted flat things like this then its unlikely they will get better. It is what it is and I really hope we never run a league event on this track as it is, had a few of us try it and one lap was more then enough before trying something else.

Yeah, I gave it a go and the Honda Esses are nothing like any year of the track, very disappointing. :(

Extraordinarily well constructed critique of the circuit there Guybrush! I am astounded that a gentleman with your command of language has been able capture the essence of everyone opinion of this track without even the hint of a triple negative...

I fully support his statement and agree the track is rubbish, I didnt say that in blunt terms in the official thread just pointed out the kerbs and offended the guy greatly. I think he needs a bunch of yes men to blow smoke up his ass rather then people actually mention issues they have and vote up his thread like most people do at RD making the ratings completely useless.

He even got offended when he saw someone must have given him less then 5 stars.  ;D Its pretty hard to rate a track so highly when I think at best it deserves 1 star. I even have doubts that he has proper permission from IDT who made the original track but as it was made for ISI f1 challenge I doubt they would care. This was pre rfactor when all kerbs were painted on and flat it was over 10 years ago after all, there has been no work done to the surface of the original track other then maybe adding those stupid large witches hats and bollards that you can drive through.

If we were reviewing this track in 2003 for f1 challenge then it would have been great but this is 2015 and Assetto corsa so to get a great track needs more then converting a 10 year old track and changing some textures.

Compare this to Barbagallo, Baskerville, Luccaring, Paul Ricard etc all the top quality scratch made content in AC this is not even close to those levels and Id rather not use AC on such sub par tracks. I am quite amazed at how many people are blowing smoke up his ass in the official thread and I dont think that helps him much. The track is not even a vague resemblance of the real place and so is a fictional track thats boring to drive as the only thing that makes it a fun track are the kerbs.

Haha I chuckled at my own candour.  Sometimes a sledgehammer IS more effective than a scalpel.  ;)
