Apologies
« on: November 03, 2016, 10:46:59 PM »
I do apologise if it sounded like I was complaining on teamspeak or that the racing wasn't a good enough experience for me.. far from it. I don't expect to be able to compete with a joystick with the level of physics quality in assetto.  It was difficult back in the day of rfactor, GTL and GTR2 but the physics weren't as realistic as they are in assetto.  This makes my job of controlling any car without adequate downforce very difficult.  Even in a race car ie. gt3 I will still be off pace due to the way joystick makes the car handle.. my front wheels are actually turning into the corner before I get to the point where you guys begin to turn in, this is what's causing my tyre wear more than anything and I don't know of any way to change it. Most of my setups also run higher front psi and toe and camber to aid easier turn in which also contributes to more tyre wear.  Better setups do help but they never last past about 8-10 laps of competitive racing.

I always worry that I'm going to cause an accident with the escorts, thankfully haven't had any majors with that one, but some close calls.  I will always be more competitive on a short circuit over a long one.  I really wish I could use a wheel setup, and I did try, it unfortunately is not possible due to a body mostly fused in bone.

I don't expect the server settings to change dramatically and affect everyone elses racing experience to try and accommodate my shortcomings, even if it is just the fun run nights. Auto clutch really should be my only requirement.

The escorts have no downforce and the rear is very loose. This is a very difficult thing to keep under control at race speed with a joystick over a wheel as I have to sacrifice speed far more to try and regain control from a sliding rear end.  Has not stopped me from trying. Although often it feels like I'm just out doing laps alone during a race for the most part. I still in no way find it boring, maybe a lil lonely at times lol.

have you tried running max rear diff coast with the Fords? Helped settle the rear end for me a bit.

I did mess with the diff/coast settings..also the wheelrates which helped dramatically.. but I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvements.

here is my current setup.

no problems Des, I didn't think you were complaining, just explaining. I was interested in hearing your problems with the joystick, it always amazes me how you keep any car on the track. let alone do so well.
