What would people like to race this Tuesday? I'll be away again. A practice run for the Formula Renault, or something a little more unusual?

How did last Tuesday night at Zandvoort go?

Start Times
All times are EASTERN Daylight Savings time.

Practice: 7:30pm, 60 mins
Qualifying 1: 8:30pm, 20 mins
Race 1: 8:50pm
-- server restart --
Qualifying 2: 15 mins
Race 2: 9:20pm

Ballast
Ballast will be assigned after each race. The faster you are compared to others, the more ballast you get, in a nutshell. Your ballast may go up and down. You will get bonus points for carrying more ballast.

Points
15 min race, 24,23,22… points down.
30 min race, 48,46,44… points down.

Bonus points and penalties are 2x in the longer races.
  • Ballast bonus: 0.5 pts for every whole 30 kg carried.
  • Team points are the accumulation of the individual team member's points. If a reserve stands in for an absent team member, they score points for the team.
  • Each driver's worst round is dropped, and the worst team round is also dropped.
  • Fastest lap bonus: 1 points awarded at the end of each race for the driver who sets the fastest lap time.
Weather
Air/track temps and cloud cover will be as per the real world location on the day, but there won’t be any rain. Grip will always start from about 95% and rise.

Penalties

  • If a driver hits someone carelessly in turns 1 or 2 at the start of a race and it pushes them off the track or spins them, they get a 4 point penalty, and the driver hit will get a 4 point bonus. Because of the point penalty, you don’t have to redress any gained positions in turns 1 or 2 only.
  • If a driver gets two turn 1 or 2 penalties in a season, they will have to skip the first qualifying session of the next round and start the race from the back of the grid.
  • No other penalties will apply. The usual respect for other drivers and redressing unfairly gained positions will be expected as always.
Rules
  • Track Limits. The Pit Lane Penalty app 1.5 or greater is mandatory. More than 3 cuts will result in a 10 second post-race penalty. Details of the app are here: http://www.xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=758.0
  • Speeding in pit lane. Speeding in pit lane during a race session will result in a 10 second post-race penalty. Speeds above 90 kph will be penalised.
  • Redress. If you gain position advantage over another driver by colliding with them such that their car leaves the track, or by cutting the track yourself, you are expected to redress your position as soon as safely possible. Gaining position by "reasonable" side-by-side contact is allowed, but rear collisions must be avoided. This won't be enforced. It is an honour system.
  • Track Re-entry. You must always re-enter the track with extreme caution. Any collision on re-entry must be redressed.
  • Assists. Driving assists like ABS and TC can be used only if available on the car. There is no forced driving view.
  • Map and Mirrors. To assist in knowing where other cars are around you and on track (especially for leaving pits and re-entering the track after a spin), it is recommended to use the virtual mirror (F11) and turn on the track map which shows the nearby cars.
  • Tyres. There are no restrictions on tyre choice.

Apps / Modded Mini Stats Bar

As discussed tonight, here's my modded V5 Mini Stats Bar (the old version which displays laps left of fuel) which shows tyre pressures as well as temps (next to the temps)

I'll be away for this week, so I'll put up one of Marty's servers with the following combo:

Nissan GT-R NISMO vs BMW M235i Racing at Zandvoort, 20 mins qualifying, 10 lap race cycle
Admin password will be the XGN password if anyone wants to skip/restart sessions etc.

Server is called "XGN.COM.AU Tues league fun run" and is passworded with the XGN password

Dudes. After a throway line by Grat on Tuesday night, I've worked in drive through penalties for speeding in pit lane, which you can do when you scream into the pits flat chat. I'm still testing it.

A speeding infringement would be an automatic drive through penalty. The only thing that's tricky is that there's often no clear pit entry line. You have to ”learn” where the pit limiter engages, but it makes pitstops more exciting, when you try to maximise the speed of your pit entry without overdoing it, just like in real life.

3 x 8 laps at Paul Ricard Tourism, GT, 24H (version 0.9.1)
TRACK DOWNLOAD
CAR DOWNLOAD

First qualifying is at 8:30pm eastern, as usual.

Like the real world series, the car is available in 3 downforce configurations: Low, Standard and High downforce.

First race will be with everyone in the high downforce package. Second race will use the standard package, and the third race will use the low downforce package. We'll be looking to get feedback on how the three downforce packages feel, so we can decide whether to use the high downforce package, or mix it up, or whatever. It will also be a chance for people to think about their vote in the Season 9 car poll.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Poll: Season 9
« on: September 09, 2015, 06:38:01 PM »
GT3 - 1 long race per round with 2 pitstops or thereabouts. Pick a car and use it all season. Perhaps some kind of mandatory tyre requirement like 'x laps on hards' if practical. Success ballast like season 8.

Formula Renault - 1 sprint, 1longer race with pitstop, calculated ballast by lap time.

Sep 15, last round of season 8.

Sep 22, Formula Renault 3.5 fun run. CAR LINK, 3 x 8 laps (HDF, STD & LDF) at Paul Ricard Tourism, GT, 24H TRACK LINK

Sep 29, I will be away. Some kind of fun run. Suggestions welcomed.

Oct 6, I will be reliving my adolescence at a KISS concert. Some kind of fun run.

Oct 13, start of season 9.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / S8R6: Spa pre-race chat
« on: September 08, 2015, 11:14:52 PM »
This is a single race "enduro round", triple points, 21 laps. Fuel and tyre multiplier will probably be 2.4x, to make both cars need 1 stop (I'll have to test it).

Weather forecast: http://www.myweather2.com/Motor-Racing/Belgium/Spa-Francorchamps-Circuit.aspx (13:00)
Probably cold; possibly wet.

It's also the last round of the season, with Guybrush sitting just 7 points ahead of Matthew.

Assetto Corsa / Vsync
« on: September 06, 2015, 12:50:31 PM »
I have been racing with vsync off, but I saw in one of Kunos' recent coding streams that he said he has implemented some kind of internal triple-buffering when it's on. I turned vsync on in-game, and it now looks silky smooth. You do get a tiny bit of input lag, but for me it was no biggie. If you currently jave vsync off, it might be worth trying it on and see if you get nice, fluid gameplay.
