2019 Hotlap Challenge
« on: December 21, 2019, 11:00:06 AM »
Over the Christmas/New Year holiday period, try your hand at the Online 2019 Hotlap Challenge, using the 60's Touring Car mod, featuring 10 different makes (link).

The server is up at Brands Hatch, called "XGN.COM.AU - Hotlap Challenge". The admin password is the usual password, so to skip to a race session if you want, you can issue chat commands "/admin password", then "/next_session".

You can see the current leaderboard here.

It's a fun mod. I can see a future season of this with maybe Seanus' idea of parity ballast set by average lap times per make.

Who's got the most car records?

It's a tie between Bueller and Mael, with 3 apiece.

Then the rest, with one each, are:
RussG, Wally, Rob, Bacchulum

I really suggested the wrong track for me to have any chance at a lap record  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( but another few tries with a Bacchulum setup may give me a chance :).

It's a fun mod. I can see a future season of this with maybe Seanus' idea of parity ballast set by average lap times per make.
It looks like you can just remove the Toyota and 'Stang, the rest look evenly jumbled (*oxymoron*).
At least at Brands....

Thanks to everyone who set laps. One thing that is apparent, with these cars being more difficult to drive, there is huge variation in lap times (even within one make). I have collected the median (i.e. half the drivers were faster than this; half the drivers were slower than this) lap times for each car as below:

tc_legends_ford_mustang   1:47.8
tc_legends_mgbgt   1:49.3
tc_legends_toyota_2000gt   1:49.4
tc_legends_ford_fairlane   1:49.9
tc_legends_cortina   1:49.9
tc_legends_mg_a_race   1:50.0
tc_legends_austin_healey_3000   1:50.5
tc_legends_hillman_imp   1:51.2
tc_legends_mini_cooper   1:51.5
tc_legends_jaguar_mk2   1:52.1

We could either use all the cars with a car dealer affordability thing again, so slower drivers can afford faster cars, or just use the mgbgt through to the austin_healey with an open choice (maybe again anyone outside the top 10 in the standings can also choose the mustang). I'd probably favour the latter, as there's so much variation in lap times.

Option B sounds good.  Whilst they have similar times, the Fairlane will have different strenght's to the say the Cortina which will make for interesting races!

Hey Wally, either one sounds good to me but if we go Option B could you please include the Hilman, that is so much fun to drive.
