Title: Happy Birthday to meeee!
Post by: Joe on January 12, 2017, 09:32:03 AM
This delivery just arrived!!!

Unfortunately the deal I made with my wife for ordering it before I technically had enough money was that the kids could wrap them and give them to me on my birthday, which isn't until the 31st, so this is going to kill me.

looks like a good deal all round, the kids are going to enjoy wrapping and watching your anticipation grow, not sure on your children's ages, if old enough they will be make you squirm!

They're 5, 4 and 1. The know I've seen saving for a new wheel and its what I wanted, and I'm pretending I don't know what those parcels are :)

I couldn't wait that long knowing they are just there, sitting in boxes, all alone now they are not with their fellow wheels and shifters, longing to mounted on the rig :)

Yeah who was I trying to kid. I asked my wife if she'd be annoyed if I set it up, and she said it's what she expected me to do anyway  :D

Gonna head out and buy a drill in a bit to drill the third hole in my wheel plate.

I remember getting the same lot of parcels delivered to my door about 6 months ago. I wouldn't of been able to hold out, I had to unwrap them and get them setup ASAP. It was a good day :D

Haha. Shifter is on. Need to drill a new hole for the base and baby is asleep so will be doing that once he is awake

Awesome!

Make sure you let us know what the new setup is like compared to your old.  I've been keeping an eye on the CSL combo myself hoping there might be a special.

Happy Birthday - whenever that may be....

Is the Formula wheel the only one you purchased?

I have both the Formula wheel and the BMW M3 one. The BMW wheel is what I use for most cars, the only time I use the formula wheel is when I'm racing F1.

Could only afford one right now and I spent ages deciding between formula and BMW. Went with the formula for now as the praga has a formula wheel. Will get the BMW one when I can.

Bruce mentioned some images now it's all set up.

You can see here where I had to drill the third hole for the front screw in my wheel plate. Only just had enough room.

Dude compared to the G27 if feels amazing. I've never used a T300 or anything to compare to, so I can just say it's a massive step up from the G27. The smoothness and the feedback are soooo much better. The shifter is also really nice.

looks like an awesome setup now, the wheel base looks good I think,  grats :)

shifter feel much diff to your old one? I went the other knob, hand slipped off that one for some reason when shifting in a hurry

I quite like the formula rim and am using it atm also, also have universal hub and the flat one rim, but once get used at not been able to slide hands around the wheel in slides and drifts, its cool and no diff to me in times and as formula rims are smaller diameter that gt type rims its not hard to do

Yah the shifter is also a huge step up. The G27 is just cheap plastic with no real feel when you changed gear. I didn't spend the extra $80 for the sequential one as I knew I'd never use it in sequential mode so it only came with the round knob. The box still had a space for the other one, just no knob :D

Do you have your wheel on 100% ffb then use the ffb clip app? The ffb was so much stronger but I liked it.

yep i set to 100% and let ffb clip do its stuff, I presume that wheel has on baord settings , if so I set mine like this

Cool thanks. I just tried the praga and was getting a lot of stong feedback just from the road so dropped down the road effects in ac.

What settings do you have in ac under advanced?

Actually i just remembered I'm using a custom lut generated from my g27. Should change that.

I'll have a look at my settings in AC if you want, but I'm pretty sure they are more or less the same as the Fanatec profile. I don't think I'll changed many settings on the wheel either, I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm using it and get back to you if you would like.

One thing you should probably do though if you haven't already, is to go through the setup config for you shifter. There's a guide somewhere showing this on their website. I didn't do this originally and found that the gears weren't being detected correctly. Example would be shaking the gear knob left and right while in 4th would be detected as going 2nd/4th/2nd/4th. I only noticed it when I was racing one time in the street season we had when I was in the skyline. I would shift into 3rd and it wouldn't go into gear because it was detected as 1st gear when I had the clutch in and shifting down into 2nd would sometimes put me into 4th. After configuring the gears, this problem went away.

Cheers shayne. Would be good to know what settings you have too.

I did a firmware upgrade when i plugged it all in and then had to do the shifter calibration to get it working at all so seems all good.

Wheel Config;
sen: AUF (I don't know what that stays for, but it means it lets the game control the range)
FF: 100
sho: 100
abs: 100
lin: OFF
dea: OFF
drl: OFF
for: 100
spr: OFF
dpr: OFF
brf: 100

Assetto Corsa Config;
Gain: 100%
Filter: 0%
Minimum Force: 0%
Kerb Effects: 50%
Road Effects: 30%
Slip Effects: 0%
Enhanced Understeer Effect: Unticked

Steering Settings
Gamma: 1.00, Filter 0.00, Speed Sensitivity: 0.00

Pedal Settings
Brake Gamma: 1.00

Both the steering settings and pedal settings are all the way to the left on the slider but I listed them anyway.

Cheers shayne. I have mine pretty nice now. It just feels so much stronger than the g27 that my shoulders get sore. May as well cancel my gym membership  ;D

Mine are similar, I don't have abs on and i have for, spr and dpr all set to 100. I tried turning all 3 off at one point and had zero FFB, so I turned them all back on. for me sen shows as AUt for auto.

In AC I've turned kerb, road and slip effects all off because as I've been reading they are 'fake' effects to give you additional feedback through the wheel. Having them off should give you the correct feel for the car.

EDIT: Just quickly experimented with for, spr and dpr and seems for AC for is the only setting that makes any difference.

I dont know how you handle the canned effect being on

What do you mean the canned effect?

I honestly haven't played with it all too much, it felt ok so I've left it as is for some time.

Pretty sure phil is referring to what i called fake effects in ac. Road, curb and slip.
Title: Re: Happy Birthday to meeee!
Post by: Shayne on January 15, 2017, 04:25:41 PM
Ahh ok,

well I'll turn them off and see how I go next time I'm in AC. Pretty sure that's just how they start on the preset profile so I left them there.

Yeah my shoulders got a bit sore initially too, but mostly it was my legs when I hadn't softened the brake pedal. I have that set as soft as it can be now and it's fine. Initially it was so hard to push down to 100% brake that after an hour of racing my leg was aching.

Noice. I have the v2s. As you mentioned the brf setting do you have them plugged in via the wheel? They have a higher resolution through usb.

Same , got the V3 for about a week now and had to set it a bit softer  ;D

I have all the clubsport stuff, it all plugs into the wheel base and the wheel base plugs into the computer via USB. I didn't know you could do it any other way. I can't really look at the connection on the pedals because it's screwed down and it's a pain in the arse to screw that back in so it's gunna have to stay how it is until I have a problem with it.

You can plug pedals in via the base or direct via usb. With base has a lower resolution, but yeah like you say pain in the ass to get to the connectors once mounted.

And the money pit keeps getting bigger... people probably saw me complaining that the formula rim really wasn't good for certain car/track combos, especially if the car goes sideways. I could only afford one rim at the time of buying everything else but today this arrived! Can't wait to try it, but still need the formula rim for tonight.
