The next season will be an open wheeler season, with a choice of the Ferrari F2004 or cars from the F1 1975 mod, which you can download here (http://www.mediafire.com/file/u3zihr7yj1c8y2i/F1C75+Historic+F1+by+Bazza+v1.05.rar) (730 MB). The release notes for the mod describe how you have to copy some AC files into the mod, from the Lotus 72D and Ferrari 312T (which require DLC).
You can choose both options if you don't care which one we drive.
We'll have some upcoming trial races in both options.
Ferrari F2004
The car that took Michael Schumacher to the 2004 F1 championship. It has no DRS or KERS, and is relatively easy and stable to drive. This is the fastest car in the AC stable.
F1 1975
Nicki Lauda, James Hunt... these cars drift a lot more, are a little harder to drive and are arguably more fun. The mod has many different cars of the 1975 season to choose from.
Format
Either choice will be a 1 hr race, pit stops for fuel and tyres open.

Now we're talking!!
-
As long as Verstappen does not join...
Jokes aside: I prefer to stick with official content, plus we already had a 1970s F1 season, so the F2004 would be a very nice novelty. I am for it.
-
Did a few races with Raceonoz with the F2004 and have to say it was not my favorite. Could never get the front working as it should.
So my vote is for the old school, even if its a mod.
-
It was my (mis)understanding that Tuesdays were a 'mod' free zone also?
In general, yes, but we did a Formula Renault season. This is a good quality mod.

I remember that series........
8) ;D

...This is a good quality mod....
This is a conversion of F1 7 Crew for F1C and that makes it nigh on 15 years old!
Anyway I still don't mind it myself but, if we run it please let me fix the many errors I have already found.
Sure, have at it and I'll put up another link. What do these errors generally affect? Is it visual? Performance optimisations? I wouldn't want to have the physics in general significantly altered.
-
Ok. I'll aim to have a trial run in these in 2 weeks time, i.e after Caterham and F2004.

cant believe i have to spend 8 bucks to get that bloody ferrari

You sure you want to do it? It's quite a large investment... non fare colpi di testa avventati ;)

If you really don't want to buy the Ferrari, you can always hire Cambridge Analytica to get their Russian contacts to rig the voting so the '75 wins. ;)
But that may cost a bit more than $8. :-\
;) :P
-
9:8 in favour of the 75's...looks like the Russians have their fingers in this already ;-)

Btw what mod is this about here?
I found this one on the net: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/f1-1975-he-v1-1.13612/

This looks to he a different mod. Ours is one by Bazza.

Can I just say 1 thing:
German Grand Prix, 3 August 1975, Nordschleife

1975 F1 it is - close the pole - decision made :P
-
Hope there will be more supporter for the F2004...don't enjoy driving the '75 F1's at all.
-
I will close the poll wednesday evening.
To spice up the 1975 tyre strategy (since everyone did either 1 or no stops in the practice race), I'll increase the tyre multiplier a bit more from 1.5x so that it's not so easy to go without at least 1 stop.
-
I think further for the 1975's, I'll bend history and allow refuelling too, because that just opens up more strategies, such as getting away with 1 stop but being heavier, or opting for 3 lighter stints and so on.
-
when will the next season start? I am unavailable next Tuesday, daughters Birthday, I don't mind missing a round, jUst letting you know :)

I was planning to start next Tuesday, if that's OK with you
Edit: but I'm sure people won't mind starting a week later. You're a title contender, after all ;)
-
I really don't mind if we start it next week, lol I wont win, I go to pieces with the pressure from kcender, matthew, grat and whoever else is following, the older I get the less I care about winning and just enjoy a good race anyway :)

Am I right to assume to skin templates for the 1975's if they get up?

To = no, I assume? Maybe a question for Seanus, but I guess the mod won't have any templates.

Had a pretty short race last night...a slight contact with Simone's rear wheel ended my race.
Sorry Wally, think I jumped the gun a bit by signing up for this season without even having tested the 75's.
These cars and my driving skills aren't a good match...no fun for me...so I better make my spot available for someone else.
Have a great season :-)

Ah come on Killa, just do a few laps practice and you would love it!
-
Cheers. I've actually done 2 or 3 hours on them already. Again, I'm still a bit of a sim racing noob...and I don't have any real racing experience either.
I'm really impressed by the lap times many of you guys have done. Guess seat time and knowledge about how to set up a car pays off.
So I'm not blaming the cars :)
-
No templates came with the mod, but painting should not be that hard without them. CM can always tell you the texture name of any part you want to paint, or maybe CM can show the mapping too.
"CM" ? . . . content manager?
Can you elaborate on the method here with no template?

For me increasing the rear ARB made the car a lot more stable with better grip out of corners. But yes the car seems very sensitive to setup, more so than many other cars and there are no electronic aids to help. So stealing one of the alien's setup will be a good idea, Bacchulum''s setups are usually good ;)
