Congratulations to Phil for taking out the season 27 championship.

Congratulations to Freezer on Pole and to Bacchulum for all three race wins and the overall round win. Phil's 3 third place finishes see him take out the championship by 37 points from Joe.

Lap 1 Penalties

Race 1
There was an impact between Freezer and Brad which I think was a racing incident. A Mustang passed Freezer’s Abarth to the left; Freezer moved a little right to give the Mustang room but in doing so closed up the gap that Brad in his Nissan was making for at great speed.

Race 2
Russ ran into the back of Jamie who was braking with a Mustang in front of him – 10 second penalty.

Race 3
Freezer ran into the back of Rob – 10 second penalty.

Season Standings
1. Phil.8, 388
2. Joe, 351
3. Wally, 333 (third on countback of race wins from Freezer, also on 333 pts)

The final round... with Phil seemingly safe, 19 points in the lead from Joe in the season standings, and at a track that should suit Phil's beloved Mustang nicely.

3 x 9 laps, and the weather is cold again - 8, 10 and 10 degrees.

Nah, you're kidding...you mean 2:10 for the start-finish straight, huh? ;-)
I've done a 2:14 in the Mustang and was proud of myself...haha

I'll check. Sometimes if there's old OSRW pit mod stuff on the server, it causes checksums for people who don't have the mod, even if we're not using it.

I will get belted on the home straight but there are a lot of tight corners!  and yes time is legit!!

Oh, that is a bit frustrating...haven't done many laps, but squeezing 4s out of the Mustang...doubt that'll be possible...for me at least. However, 2:10 seems to be a fantastic time. I could go for the Abarth as well, but haven't even considered it because of the long straight...will give it a go and see what I can do with it.

Well seeing that Wally dies not want to reduce the Ballast on the BMW I might go with the Nissan for this one. Always fun scaring a few fiat's on the start  :P

I'm going to give the Abarth a go this time, because I'm also getting a pretty good time out of it.

Last night was interesting we did a couple of test races. When Phil was ahead the abarth could catch him all through the lap and he would pull away again on the straight and repeat. I think if the abarths get ahead they'd probably stay ahead as they're that much quicker overall and should have enough of a gap at the straight. Though if they get stuck behind it could be frustrating. Curious how the Nissan would do in a race.

The Abarth will definitely require a clear run around the back to make sufficient gap to hold out on the straight.  It will definitely be behind at T1 I think so
should be interesting to try and come through in 9 laps.

Abarth would out qually the Mustang, but will it still be in front by T1 at the start.. unlikely unless going 3 Abarth's wide :D

I'm still undecided. I'm not sure I could handle the Mustang for a full race though. I do want to try running the Nissan close to the other two and see how it goes so may try that tonight if people are on the server.

Yeah, my lap times were quite a bit faster than Phil's. The Mustangs get off the line a lot better than the Fiats so Phil got in front and I just couldn't pass him...got alongside him, but then his exit speed/acceleration just didn't give me a chance of passing him.
Overtaking early on the lap is very hard as you just need some time to close the gap after the long straight...it's screwed. Maybe you'll do better against them, but I'm thinking going for the Mustang. My starts in the Fiat are just pathetic.

Think I'm gonna stick with ol' faithful... No way I'll keep the Mustang on track, and I'm pretty sure the Abarth's are going to struggle to make a pass despite being faster on the twisty bits.

These are exactly the choices I hoped people would be considering. It's a pity it's so hard to find relatively close performing cars with their own strengths and weaknesses.

interesting night last night with so many people on the practice server it was hard to try a variety of cars. Eventually I'd given up and gone with the Nissan I know as no matter what I try the race isn't long enough to be quick in Z4 and I can't find my boat licence so that rules out the Mustang.

Well done Phil and thanks Wally for another fun season.

Can't help but think I threw away a chance to win the season blowing my engine like that but had fun all the same.

Well I knew the Abarth would be a gamble despite its overall lap time being a fair bit faster and that kind of proved to be the case.
However, I reckon I completed the most amount of passes tonight with action on most laps!  And yes, only to be often re passed
down the straight.  But overall despite a few moments, I was able to pick my way up through the field in each race and throwing
it up in the inside, around the outside, pretty much anywhere . . . was heaps of fun! :)
With Wally's blow up in r1 I did think I was on for the third step for the season but appears we drop a round so I hadn't allowed for that :(
All up a good season!

It wasn't an easy choice going for the Mustang considering the lap times I was doing, but it turned out to be the right one...at least when looking at the results.
So the trick was keeping the Fiats for as long as possible behind you so it's possible to get them back on the long straight.
Quite a few brave/kamikaze passes by Freezer on the outside, which actually worked out ok...apart from just one were I just needed respective part of the track because of the speed I was going...yeah, that was just a bit too much, Freezer.
So it was fun :-) Cheers Wally for putting this together.

Race 1 with my engine blow through a mis-shift, I didn't quite classify as a finisher.

Race 2, I started at the rear, got too close to AbleArcher in his Mustang and DaveO's Abarth, and spun. I also went on to spin by myself too, just losing the rear in slow corners, which I settled down with 1 click of rear wing in race 3.

Race 3, I was again near the back of the field, and we ended up having a great fun battle with AbleArcher (Mustang), DaveO (Abarth), Rob (Alfa), Russ (Abarth) and Jamie (BMW). You can imagine the tussles round the back of the track with that mix, only to have the faster cars leave the Abarths behind on the straight, time and time. Knowing the boat-like nature of the Mustangs, I wasn't going to push too hard for a tight pass, but instead tried to keep the pressure on and hold my own nerve, hoping to force a mistake. I eventually managed to break free of that pack after people did make some mistakes, and then was able to drive fast on clear track, almost managing to catch up to Brad at the finish.

I had 2 great races, although I've started making mistakes in the closing laps of the 2nd already, then completely effed up the 3rd and bailed. (jump start, early downshift, spin, another downshift - done it all)
I don't think I'm calibrated for 3 races after a busy day.  I'm getting too tired.

In fact I've qualified with the setup in 'safe' mode as well, bugger (forgot to take the TC off).

Congrats, Phil, great driving mate!

Quite satisfied with the round.

All three races followed the same pattern,  Bacchulum's alfa speed of the line gave a bit of an unwelcome surprise with him leading after turn one followed by 9 qualifying laps to try and keep up with him. Somehow the Alfa appeared to handle the cold tires better on the first lap, Bacchulun used it well to create a gap which he beautifully managed for the rest of the races. Of course the races was made easier by Joe's capitulation in race 1  ;D

Phil's boat seemed to run out of puff the last few laps of each race which left me with three second places, not bad for the Datsun.  :P

R1 shot up the right side of the track across the painted area and slotted into 3rd, couldn't match Mael pace and pushing the braking limit further and further causing myself to spin and hand over a few places.
R2&3 similar shoot up the grid a little fall back from Mael get pressure from Phil & other mustangs, great fun thanks guys
Edit; watching the bird & killa mustang battle in front of me was pretty good, thought I might be handed a couple of places lol. Also pressure from Phil was tough, tried to make it hard for him to pass but the mustang was too fast on the straight and he had to go round the outside in the braking zone at turn one, I locked up big time almost collecting him, so glad I didn't, I think he was aware of my situation lol

Race 1
There was an impact between Freezer and Brad which I think was a racing incident. A Mustang passed Freezer’s Abarth to the left; Freezer moved a little right to give the Mustang room but in doing so closed up the gap that Brad in his Nissan was making for at great speed.

Thanks for clearing that one up Wally. One minute I was passing a slower car on it's right and the next moment I was sliding sideways towards the field trying to take turn 1. I tried everything, brakes, hand brake, down shifting to try and pull the Nissan up but sadly I slid into killa who was simply an innocent victim. Other than some door damage I don't think it effected him, but certainly wasn't the way I wanted to start a race either.

I'm so glad this season is over, simply because I've not been a fan of the cars, I think because I've managed to finish in the back 1/2 of the top 10 each round meant that I didn't really earn that much money to get away from the Mustang or Nissan, but like someone said on the radio last night, I'm still glad I turned up for most of the rounds. I would have loved to have tried a different car last night but I couldn't get below the 17's in the Z4 and absolutely hated the Mustang so low 16's in the Nissan was the best I could manage with my lack of setup knowledge/abality....

Despite my total lack of speed this week, I still had some great battles. I think most of race 2, Rob and I we were never more than a second apart and kudos to him for such clean racing. I unfortunately can't say the same to Freezer as glancing side touch saw him spear off track (race 1 I think ) about 1/2 way around the lap. I simply didn't know he was there. Sadly even with triples I couldn't see him in the Fiat and the red arrow pointing to where he was said he was behind me as I turned in, so I didn't expect to bump into the side of him at the apex, mind you he couldn't probably say after following me that I couldn't find an apex all night.....the corner speed of the Fiats was amazing and at least when Freezer passed me in subsequent races, I was aware of his closing corner speeds.

Thanks again Wally for the league, it's been an interesting concept and hopefully you've got some good feedback about how you could run the dealer concept another time.

I wish I'd picked the Fiat. :'(
Or, more accurately, I wish more would've picked the Alfa. :-\
Mael tried his best but all I had was 1 overtake in 3 races. ???

Made it home just in time for race 2 but at least I'd done about 12 laps before the race night. Got a good start but was stuck behind a mustang and got spun from behind. Had 2 more spins on my own it the race and left up the back......as usual. Race 3 was fun and had some good battles. Every time I thought I'd get away from the little battle, I'd have a little Abarth alongside me and comprimising my lines through the next corner. A couple of very soft spins and I was back to my usual spot at the back of the field.

I struggled to find a balance in the M1 and found it seemed to respond best to being gently flowed from corner to corner. A little too much steering or throttle would see the back stepping way out there. Was great under brakes though.

Thanks Wally and everyone for the season and bring on the next one.

Hey Brad I think the T1 incident was my fault in hindsight, I had many cars blowing past and as you came up I have moved slightly right :(  (checked the replay)  so I basically went from P1 to 2nd last!!
As for the bump . . I was desperate to get past in the bends so was throwing the Abarth into any gap that appeared :)  Yes there was a huge speed difference but just a racing incident I believe!  :)
