S30R6: Riverside NASCAR
« on: October 31, 2019, 07:48:41 AM »
Kcender dominated the round again. Joe put in a better round than Mael (maybe Mael should use the default setup?), to take second place in the season standings. With Jeremy's absence and Joe's strong performance, Krahl Racing are back on top of the team standings.

AGK veered into me just a little exiting turn 1, enough to move him back into Mael’s side, knocking him off the track – racing incident

I don't believe it - maybe the first time ever there were no contacts at all in race 2, despite all the close racing.

Season Standings
1. Kcender87, 1500
2. Joe, 1248 (up from 3rd)
3. Mael, 1203 (down from 2nd)

Two sprints of 25 laps at Riverside NASCAR (link).
Weather will be mild, 19 and 21°, but could be fairly windy.

I suggested it for a Fun Run before the season started. The track is just made for close racing with the long straights followed by the slow hairpin(ish) corners and that wiggly bit at the start of lap is friggen awesome!!
The full circuit has two more straights and two more overtaking chances for those who like to brake a little later than others. It was one off my first online races and I have never smiled so much whilst being overtaken....

Stracker tells the story about where I'm losing 1.5 secs to Kcender... he carries much more speed through the first right hander and subsequently through the esses, and also has a slower entry into the final banked turn and a much better exit speed.

Did a few laps last night and I'm still 0.7 slower than Kcender and I can't really see how I can go much quicker. Maybe I need to play with the setup as I'm still using my trusty default.

I thought SS would be okay here but I'm cooking the lefts pretty often.

What car are you in?
I can knock up a setup option for the next round for you, if you want.

Not a bad night for me. Got away cleanly in R1 and found myself in a gap between the leaders and everyone else so just focused on steady lap times.
Sadly a few silly cuts got me a 10 sec penalty which dropped me behind Wally, luckily only one spot, to get home 5th.
R2 was a last minute decision to throw on the super softs.  This proved beneficial as I had a bit more pace and was holding off Joe for quite a few laps.
Sadly that came to and end with slide coming onto the back straight dropping two spots.  From there it was push on, the tyres held out but I couldn't bridge
the gap to Wally ahead.   (and another 10 sec penalty just added a little more pain).

Yes, I benefited from 10 second penalties gifting me a spot in both races. It took some pressure off, as I just had to stay within 10 seconds of Freezer and Joe without pushing to catch them. Clean races from me - no cuts, a couple of minor brushes with the wall that caused no harm, and one hairy moment braking after the esses where I almost spun.
