Title: LeMans Endurance Race - between seasons
Post by: Shameless_1 on September 25, 2017, 12:43:22 AM
As an introduction race to the new season, I'd like to get another Endurance race happening between the seasons, due to the amount of straights perhaps 3 hrs instead of 2.5.

Track: LeMans (this one Wally??) http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/circuit-de-la-sarthe-24-hours-of-lemans.2482/

Cars: LMP1 only or LMP1 and GT3 mixed.

So who's in?

Le Mans will be part of the S19 WEC season, so let's not make people sick of the track before the season even starts ;)

If you want to do an enduro, please choose another track (preferably none on the WEC calendar).

There will be a practice LMP1/GT3 race before the season starts, as usual, so don't jump the gun :)

Laguna Seca?
Sebring, Watkins Glenn . .. not sure if these exist in AC, but good tracks!

Daytona Roval (Rolex 24hr) would be good.
But I don't think it's in AC. :'(

I've downloaded a mod track of Laguna Seca from race department and the few hotlaps I've done around it seem pretty schmick.

PC is off at the moment so can't check specifically which of the versions it is (there are 3 or 4 on race department)

GT40 vs 330P4 vs 908LH at Daytona.
I concur.

When did you want to do this? On a Sunday night?

Between seasons on a Tuesday night as it's the usual racing night.  But personally I'm not fussed on which night..

What are your thoughts on this track Wally: http://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/circuit-gilles-villeneuve.html#en

And I'm sticking with this as an introductory to the new season.. so LMP cars.  I don't have the ferrari pack and some others who may want to join in on the enduro may not also.

Well I already want to have a bit of a practice race with the season 19 LMP1/GT3 cars, but not an enduro. I want to give people the chance to try some different cars and classes on a Tuesday race night, rather than a full blown enduro. More like 2 x 30 min races or maybe even 3 x 20 min races, as an opportunity for people to try different cars.

Okay, then why don't we utilise one or some of the cars from the latest update (not the DLC) Anyone tried the Audi TT RS (VLN)  though not sure what car you would pair it with?  Or a single make Mazda 787B.  AC really needs some proper race packs rather than random car releases.

the gilles villeneuve track seems quite nice after a few laps. not extremely difficult.

Raced it for a season at ROOZ, asthmatic piece of shit. The other one is OK.

Haven't really had any experience with either.  I'm just trying to find a car we haven't really raced much if at all.   I'd be happy with the Cobra. But not against the porsche gt1, 962c either.

Wally how about the new lotus eleven vs gt40 and perhaps 1 other car?

Lotus 3-Eleven, as the "fast car"? Could chuck in the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 to go with it (close in lap times), as well as the Porsche 908 LH to go with the Ford.

Thanks, but in general, we use stock KS cars on Tuesdays.

Tried this truck a couple of weeks ago, single player @ nurb sprint after the Escort round. Kinda fun, something different but it didn't have tyre sounds for me. Might be cool for a fun run maybe? Haven't looked into how to fix mods, also tried the camaro gt3 which had the same problem with tyres but the engine sounds good.

A test version of Daytona I have whipped for your consideration.

Daytona International Speedway (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6YBokXY5o8QV3JXejl3QXR2N28)
Thanks Seanus, will give it a go. Maybe the GT2 class cars would be good for an enduro here?

Daytona's great. Thanks GzeroD.

So I'm going to call it:

2 hr race at Daytona Road Course (race starting at 8:15 pm).
Like we did for the Nords 2hr enduro, we'll qualify through the preceding week on the practice server.

Cars:
Corvette C7R (50% restrictor)
Ferrari 458 GT2
BMW M3 GT2

Fuel 0.8x (so cars can go 1h30 to 1h45 on one tank), to widen the pit window.
