I had a satisfyingly clean race. For the most part I was tangled up with Wally and Simone, but when they decided to pit at around lap 20-22, I decided I was faster than they were as long as they were tangled together and I stayed out for a few more laps to put a gap on them while they fought with cold tyres.
My plan worked, and I came out of the pits with a substantial gap on the Wally and Simone battle. I lost most of that gap while the tyres came up to temperature, but then I was able to keep ahead by anywhere from 1-4 seconds. Managed to pick up 6 places from my starting position of 13.

I notice the bumps from about T3 - T7. It takes a few laps to get accustomed every time I get in there.
I'm not going to go and change settings for the camera to be locked or unlocked from the horizon. This track is an exception and I haven't noticed this issue anywhere else.

The bounciness of this track makes me feel a bit queasy for the first few laps while wearing my Oculus Rift.

For a first run on XGN, I think last night went pretty well. I certainly had some good fun and worked up a sweat into the bargain.
I took the 911R in race 1 and it was clear that it was hampered power wise. I spent much of the race catching up to Wally in the bendy stuff, just to have him run away down Kemmel and leave me in the dust.
In race 2 I took the Datsun. Its braking distance took some getting used to, but I did learn the value of using a smidge of throttle to help pull it through the corners.
The cornering method I learned in race 2 helped me out in race 3 when I jumped in the 911 GT3. That car felt so alive after driving the Datsun Boat Anchor. The Porker really responded to the trail braking and gentle throttle through the corner that I'd picked up in race 2. Being punted heavily at the end of Kemmel on lap 1 or 2 put me down the order, but the car was comparably such a joy to drive that picking up a few places through the race made for some good fun.

I tried to join the test server yesterday, but was unsuccessful. I've never been part of the minorating ecosystem before and I'm guessing that the whitelist isn't updated every time a new person signs up, so I was out of luck. Not a huge deal, I just did some lonely laps on my own instead. I know I'm a bit of a special case on this, but thought I'd call it out anyway.

I'm new around here but not new to AC or this online racing business. Most recently I'm a regular on the ARSE forums and their leagues when they run them.
