Now that we're in daylight savings time, and the regular lineup has changed a little, I want to find out again if we can start any earlier, to either a) finish earlier, or b) make the races longer.
Poll options are Eastern daylight savings time - you can do your relevant timezone calculations.

I see 8 is the majority so far
There is absolutly no way i can do that
by the time i get home from work, kids bed etc, i cannot
To get the tail end of qualy 8.30 is it for me (i voted 8.45)
You QLD yobbos write to your MP and get inline with the rest of this fine country (seriously stuff your curtains ;D)
Well thats my rant
-
Umm, 8pm AEDT is 7pm REAL time.
It's even earlier for us, (which is fine by me as I'm limited by 0500 wake ups).
So if it's QLD yobbo's making too early, having daylight savings here would make it worse for you. :o

Don't worry, the idea is to cater for the latest starter, not the most popular time.

If qual is at 8:45, can you still make all of qual, Dion? I couldn't remember who had kids to organise. We can sure keep qual at 9:00 if that's what works for you.

...but I agree with him, just the other way: we all should do away with the "daylight savings" bs. It's unnecessary, it's evil, it's just messing with everything. Not good at all.
-
2100 starts are real tough for me (I've managed this winter due to work cutting back to 4-day weeks, but that's over now).
-
I'm struggling to make the 8pm (normal time) start as it is. Any earlier would be pushing it for me, happy to give it a go if people want it but doubt I would make the start of Race 1.
-
So if I read this right, a few can't make it any earlier, but the late finishes are awkward for David. So here are some options.
1) Shorten qually from 20 mins to 10 mins. This might add a bit of pressure to qually, limiting the laps you can fit in and might mix the grid up a bit. Some might use the qually time as practice though.
2) Shorten warmup between races from 10 mins to 5 mins. Makes it a bit harder to adjust for ballast changes and rain though.
I don't really want to make the races any shorter. Those two options would shave 20 mins off the night and get David in bed earlier.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a decent compromise to me. Got my vote Wally,
-
Lets not cut the between-race gap, it is a necessity often enough. Happy with the quali shortening, it's no biggie.
(Edit: I mean, sometimes ppl have connectivity issues, need to go to toilet, grab a beer, etc...otherwise I'm fine, too)
-
I agree with Tim, seems like a good compromise to me also. Dave O.
-
I agree with Bird, the between race gap should remain the same, for ballast adjustments and a toilet break!
If we can be done by 2230 AEDT, latest, I can live with it.
-
What about the 1 lap shoot out style qualifying. It certainly seems to mix things up! You also only need 5-10 minutes to run it.
-
Am I missing something here?????
AEDT is the time we run now. So qualy for me ATM is 9.00 (Qld 8.00) No probs there. We tend to finish b4 10.30 so not to late
Hence why I said 8.45 for me. So Wally yes perfect for me.
Dave to answer you I reckon 7.00 your time (8.00 mine) is way to early for you guys, also if you had daylight savings this post would not be happening ;)
-
1900 is not too early for me (non-Tuesday bedtime is 2030) :P
As Dion said, the way it is now is not too late, I just wanted it known I'd rather not go any later.
Next winter will be a different matter, but I'll deal with that when it comes.
-
OK, will leave it as is as it seems to be working for everybody well enough at the moment. Just wanted to check if anything need adjusting.
Freezer, the server does support some kind of limited laps qualifying, but I've never tried it and don't know how well it works, if at all. It might be fun to try some time (with a longer practice and then a shorter qually that ends at the same time as it does now).

I voted 8:30, which of course is 7:30pm here in Summer. When I started league racing in 2007 the races started at 9pm, and it was like that elsewhere for some time. I think it was made earlier to suit some peoples early "get up for work" times, which is fine by me.
Any earlier than 7pm here is too early due to dinner, etc.
