An update on the superkarts.
I just went out to Lakeside and had a chat with some of the drivers in the pits, and a close look at the karts.
One thing I didn't expect was that they now run a full floor with diffuser.
The 125cc get so much downforce from it they don't use a rear wing, to reduce drag, but they are still able to pull 3G through the corners before the tyres let go.
Some are still learning, one bloke recently changed his nose cone to one that was 20mm higher off the ground and gained 1 second per lap around Lakeside, QLD Raceway and Morgan Park.
I'm hoping to go to the next round and talk to some more drivers, this round was postponed a week so a lot of competitors were unable to race due to prior commitments.
I'm also going to try to get some data from the Jameison brothers, who sell an 85cc shifter kart.
(and I'll try to remember sun screen, I'm burnt AF after 1 hour in the sun
)
