Start thinking of ideas for next season and some fun runs in between
-
For a change from this season we could try an easy-to-drive car on some short, tight circuits.
One possible car is the MTX Metalex. A couple of circuits that would produce some close racing is Modena, Tor Posnan, Magione,

-
I'd like to see the field a little closer. Probably using one car, on tighter, shorter circuits will achieve that. Maybe 3 short races too, to bunch the field up, with rolling start reverse grids.
-
I agree with Wally. Also the MTX-01 would probably be a decent choice but something a bit easier to handle might be better to keep the field closer together.
-
I think the MTX is easy to handle but perhaps the MX5 Cup or BMW 235M?
-
The MX5 Cup car would be great. Bit of a surprise package when I first tried it. Thought it was going to be a slow, girly car but it's awesome to race. :D ::)
-
are the MX5 Cup and the escort close in times? if one is a little slower it could be the equalizer car
-
Perhaps one car with a fixed setup may bring competitors closer together again and prevent the hot lap sessions?
-
Could I suggest a test run after the end of this season at Paul Riccard WTCC layout in the MTX and the MX-5 Cup.

Sounds good to me :) and I like the track list also
-
You could also through Vallelunga Club layout into the mix, for a short track.

Added to list.
Also, does anyone have a replacement track suggestion?
-
I am keen to give the Metalex MTX a run because it is a "vintage" car in keeping with our Thursday theme. 1976 is 40 years ago so I think that is old enough!!!!
Also, I think the MX5 CUP is a definite contender for a future Tuesday league season.
Here is an extract from a European Veteran - Oldtimers - Historical vehicles website. It is a google translation from Czech.

History:
Since 1973, as part of motor racing, "Peace and Friendship Cup 'announced Formula Easter. Its purpose was to create a single-seater racing based on parts that come from the Eastern bloc and which were made in series. A new class of Easter prescribing the use of the engine, clutch, gearbox and brakes. Originally used engines 1200 cc, were later allowed 1,300 cc.
In 1974 took place relatively balanced races because the cars were fitted with almost the same engines VAZ and their modifications for more power were possible. Czech designers are opting for a new path. And to reduce wind resistance and improve driveability. In 1975 he was finished prototype marked MTX 1 to 3 In May 1975, he premiered at the Grand Prix in Brno. The whole season has been tested and modified. In 1976 he began mass production, which lasted until 1981.
Description:
The basis of the car was again a spatial lattice frame. The front axle was trapezoidal rear was formed pětiprvkovým curtain. Disc brakes were used for Skoda and Fiat. The wheels were cast out of the electron. MTX carried the designation "13 x 7" and "8 x 13". These were mounted on tires of size 185 x 60 x 13 front and 215 x 60 x 13 rear. The car weighed just 450 kg. At low weight also contributed five sections laminated body. The front part of the cover along with a spoiler and front wheel steering, as well as covering the area was part of the rider, two side pieces covering the tank and the last fifth part zakrytovával engine. Engine cooling was liquid. Coolers were placed diagonally in front of the rear wheels on the end side cowl. The engine was used Russian VAZ 1300 cc, which was a four-cylinder, four-stroke OHC. It has been tuned to output 85 bhp (63 kW). Transmission came from the production of Skoda Mlada Boleslav. The end of production in 1981 was produced 53 pieces of vehicles. The former foreign trade enterprise Motokov some of them exported to Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria. These cars get our drivers a number of domestic and international successes. E.g. Karel Jilek in 1977 won the championship of peace and friendship, a year earlier in the same cup of worms and George won the same title in 1981 on a modified prototype George Moskal from Jablonec, who actually used the winning car of 1977.

I'll just looking forward to completing a season,
Have you thought about
Ahvenisto 1.0 http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/ahvenisto.10846/
Edited: I had selected the wrong track.
-
If you want to avoid hotlap sessions the reverse grid format we used in the gt86 season worked very well. The only thing you may want to change though is have reverse grid in season order each race. With new starters at the back. Otherwise quicker guys with 1 bad race would start at the front of the field if going on last race results. This tends to give that guy a boring hotlap session easy win.
The only issue with the reverse grid races is some guys up front not used to it will get forced into battles. Its either this or they get stuck at the back lapping on their own. If the faster guys dont try their best to avoid any contact when getting through the field though these slower guys will hate being used as a piniata and likely quit the season.

Added to proposed Season 5 track list. Couple of challenging blind corners but mostly fun in the MTX.
Did you drive the MTX on this track Bruce?

great minds think alike! If it has been done well, it should be rough, handle atrociously and be uncontrollable on full throttle off centre steering!
Just d/l it...

Just finished a season of those in rf2, where is is converted from, and if its as good as the rf2 version it should be good.
-
A BTCC season could really be fun. Easy to drive, Close racing...
If slideways likes it then it MUST be good...and slidey...
-
Whilst they are a conversion they seem to have been re-worked a bit. Also good to see they have permission. Just took the Avensis around Baskerville and feels ok on default set. Haven't played with setups or tried the others yet.
-
BTCC = awesomeness
-
OK. How about a theme for the season = "Best of British" = all British tracks. Can still chose either BTCC or other car over next couple of weeks.

Chain drive + high revs = contender.

Default/NOS sounds good to me.

Gratulin, your humming my tune!

Did we ever give the AC Ford Escort a run?
Could be fun on the Pommie tracks.
