This guy got to try out the CV1 and HTC Vive and gives his impressions on them... interesting to listen to it.

*Note* you only see a bit of a demo on the CV1 right at the end.

It's going to be interesting to see how the final product is compared to the DK2. The resolution and some of the motion effects that cause discomfort for some people have improved a lot I believe. However, after using the DK2 in Pcars for a while now I find that I don't "like" the VR sensation. Don't get me wrong - it is fantastic. The immersion is incredible. You can actually 'feel' the rear end of car sliding and hear all the car noises around you as if you are actually in the car. But I feel weird after driving in the VR world and I don't think it is just the DK2 low resolution. It feels like it is messing with my head somehow for a few hours afterwards. Difficult to explain. Very unpleasant feeling for me. I don't get motion sickness or anything like that. This is different.

I think it is still a mild motion sickness.  I believe know what you're talking about.
It's the brain being fucked with in both cases, the sensory input from different places don't match ( balance from the ear & picture from the eyes ).
I don't think it's something to worry about - your brain will prolly get used to it - but it can be unpleasant.

Funny thing, I feel really shit after the ear specialist often (I've a problem with my right ear, I've no middle ear and all sorts of problems) and when they do a suction cleaning, the cold air messes with my circular canals and I get dizzy....and then afterwards I feel rather crap for hours.

There's a motion sickness pill that can help.  It needs to be taken beforehand.

But I think it's a bit overboard for gaming.  This is the reason I'm not keen on VR at all. :)

Oculus is now available for preorder and costs a cool 1200aud delivered! Maybe I won't be doing some vr racing any time soon. Especially as I'd also need a new PC powerful enough to use it.

Not defending the price but there is  peripherals included - headphones, gamepad, vr remote etc.

Also, there will be a cheaper version soon supported by Facebook Ads :D

They've a nice exchange rate if the US $600 device comes to AUD $1200.
Altho the shipping can be ridiculous from the US, sometimes, but it's still waaaay too much.

Yeah I'm going to hold out until AC tunes their game more of it as well as all the other issues get weeded out...

Plus I want UHD for each eye... but I might be asking too much there :P

From what I read it doesn't come with the fancy remote, just an xbone controller.

For us it's $649 + $131 postage + GST = 1200AUD
