Title: Sorry, will be here this round.
Post by: Dick Forrest on October 30, 2014, 03:54:40 PM
And I'm all over the shop. Cant get a good lap down...
Too many corners... Bird, do you know any shortcuts?

We're very sorry to hear that (you'll be around).

I know them all ;)
But still, you might want to stick to the black stuff this time.

Drive slower, and you'll go faster.  I mean it.   This car needs very fine throttle control, and you need to be on the throttle a lot - but not full throttle!
Brake earlier, take you time finding the apex, and throttle out - carefully, gently caressing that throttle pedal!

Full throttle ONLY in straight line, AFTER the car has settled.  Even over bumps you need to ease off it a bit.

Is it meant to be that bumpy? I'm not doing too bad really, Still getting a bit lost. Couple of spots sneak up, like after the wiggly bit and the last chicane...

Are you talking about Suzuka? If so, download the section.ini file to give you the corner names. That helps a lot to orient yourself on the track. A lot of the corner names at Suzuka are famous names since it is an old circuit used for a lot of F1.

What Bird said is especially true of Suzuka. You should watch the F1 guys nurse their cars around the long corners. They cannot use much of the throttle at all - they have no traction control and "too much" torque low down.

Sorry guys!! I love all of you!.....  in a masculine way!...... Suzuka gets a massive 'you suck' from me though lol.
I'm too tired to 'handle it' atm..
Maybe it's the car track combo.. for me, Tonight, too much. lol

Shut up Marty...

It is a properly hard combo, no question about that.

The hand full of laps I run I thought it was fun.   Easier than the Shelby mod at Salzburg ring that we tried.

We where all pretty green at Salzburgring. That's one reason why I'd love to have another round there.
I struggled big time last night bro! Not so much spinning off, which I did plenty of mind you.. just not getting lines right at all. Way off the pace and not really finding any. Wasn't really in the zone at all. Needed a nanna nap..

Understand Dick, if you can't get comfortable, it just becomes frustrating... good decision, although we did miss you. :)

I forgot who requested Suzuka, but for all the trouble and lack of placing on my part, (must avoid starting in the pits!), I did enjoy the track and if we run it again, only need to find 7 seconds!

Nice work on Aiman showing all of us how to put down some fast consistent laps, we can now strive to learn from you.
Pleased to see even a high ping (~120) as long as the quality is okay, it doesn't prevent them racing.

You are all waiting for this of course...
I have race 2 results. Race one results were overwritten by the server when we go kicked and the race 2 logs, although the end of file was not what Wally's parser expected, I was able to manually get the results:

RACE 2:
Aiman Haziq
Simone
Bird
Krahl
Edwood
Gratulin
Schmittez
weeman
Freezer
Rob
Gorgak
Flattop Bruce
rooshooter

I only have partial results for race 1, any one assist?  ::)

Not at all. It was a fun night irrespective and thanks for organising!

The objective for Thursdays was for a league that was more relaxed than Tuesdays and that allowed us to explored some of the mod cars and tracks. It is achieving that in spades. Missing results now and again doesn't impact the enjoyment of the night.

What I think may be worth learning is that easier tracks may be better in future. I was the one who suggested Suzuka (yes it was me Dick!) but failed to realise that, while it is a fantastic track, it is not a track that can be driven without a lot of learning. A lot of people just want to turn up for a race on Thursdays without spending too much time practising the combo. That is one of the appeals of the format.

Thanks but it should better.  I had thought you suggested the track and it did what we wanted, tested the track in many degrees... Dick tested it too and excellent feedback, from a 'learn the track' and 'complexity' point, added to the narrowness, we all gained.

It will be used often I am sure, and like I did, Dick will get to grips with it. (sorry no puns or double  double entendres intended)

Where do get the "AC Launcher" result screen?
Title: Re: Sorry, will be here this round.

It pops up after the race when you exit back to launcher after a race. There is an option to display results screen. Can,t remember exactly where it is - maybe under General.

Thanks Gratulin, I had set the option to "Display Compact Result Screen" from the beginning... ARGG you have now save me a lot of anguish, and Bird having to save it :)
