Assetto Corsa / Re: Setups
« on: June 03, 2014, 11:26:38 PM »
Wouldnt mind a setup in the Thurs nite cars especially the old lotus at old Monza my least favourite combo so dont want to have to run too many more laps then I need to.  ;)

Could be way more fun in a race then boring hotlaps

Looks as if I will miss the last 2 rounds unless you don't mind a high ping from Xi'an, off there for 2 weeks with the new job :)
So the season is now wide open ?)

Yep I was correct blind and stupid, I was sure it had to be there but didnt see it staring straight at it. Next time I will try and read the info or get my eyes and brain checked.  :)

Probably a silly question as I may be blind or stupid but quite likely a combination of both  :) I assume this is starting this week as I dont see any start date anywhere.

Maybe the server could be causing the bottleneck and somehow effecting some users, not sure how thats possible but if guys dont normally have this issue and it came up its just a possiblility. Will see if the bigger server gets rid of this issues especially if the guys that had sound issues havent had them in earlier MP sessions. In MP users CPU's really shouldnt be much more stressed then running a hotlap session and for me my FPS is much the same as being on track solo with any size field in MP. With AI there is a noticeable drop in fps and my GPU loads drop a bit at times as I am still cpu limited by in i7 2700 at 4.8ghz it seems at times with large ai fields.

All, is it worth stipulating that every has to use a PRO mode of realism? Is that going to cause anyone huge grief? I don't know if anyone relies on an auto-clutch. You can't enforce this via the server (yet).

I guess for guys that dont have a shifter and clutch they would need it. Not sure of everyone's wheels but I think if someone doesn't have a shifter it gives them auto clutch by default anyway. I use a shifter and pro mode with only incar ABS if it has it so doesnt bother me, I think about the only aid that could really make someone faster would be TC but that is a tricky one as many cars have these and are also allowed in some race classes. I cant imagine these cars having TC or needing it but cars like the 458 and mclaren last week TC would have made it easier for guys but still not necessarily quicker then having it off and trying to tame the beasts with your right foot.

With rules for track limits and redress I assume that if you make a pass or avoid losing a position by going outside track limits you should also give back the position.

How about on a track like Vallelunga where the normal racing line allows use of all 4 wheels beyond the kerb as I have seen in most real onboard videos. Also ingame cutting penalty allows this as does RSR app as in this video at 1:00 into turn 12. In the lotus vs KTM race I didnt use this line as I wasnt sure plus in those cars it is better to stay inside the kerb anyway.

I will be good for this most days hopefully Wally  :)

I didnt have sound issues those races but in earlier AC build when CPU was hitting the 95% warning I noticed sound get a little crackly. Maybe some peoples computers where struggling or even the server may have been so causing issues with certain setups. In the replay file mine is a little jerky and stuttery so maybe the server was just on the very edge of self destruction and we got away with it. Did quite well considering the field size and pings were pretty good from all that I saw with no warping issues.

I had a strange screen freeze at the end of the second qualy that had a big stutter then I lost all control of the wheel, may have been something on my end or a basic crash due to MP alpha code. I didnt get crashed out of the game and pressed ESC went back to pits and had no issues after that or before.

Would be good if they just gave random skins if none are assigned to users which would make it much easier for admins.

Im using this one with an old Galaxy note phone running android. Also available for iphones.

marty, I couldn't find how it supports iphones. I remember one of these hud type system simply used Safari on the iDevice?

I just heard it works for Iphone but I dont have any Apple device so cant confirm. Have a look in the app store fore dashmeter pro and it may be a different way to set it up as I phone is a bit more of a closed OS then Android so probably done in a different way.

Was some good racing again, those cars were quite a handfull there.

Race 1 those Mclarens were just too quick for me in the ferrari until they got held up by backmarkers on the last 2 laps, so maybe some headlight flashing from leaders will be needed until blue flags are implemented. Still have no idea how me and Shamefull Manny didnt crash into the 3rd turn as I didnt see him at all and he got me on the outside while I took a pretty regular line. All I saw was a big white mclaren about 1cm away from me an no contact.

Race 2 I was pretty much drifting around in the Mclaren fighting to keep it as straight as possible but had a great battle with Guybrush all race in race driving quite well for 11,9 laps until I brain berped into the last chicane and gave up the lead I battled all race for  ;) I watched the replay and found it quite funny how there were even gaps throughout at one point with a pair of red and white cars battling all the way through. I may need to upload a video of this race as our battle was quite fun. In Qualy I realized passing wasnt going to be easy and most likely end in tears if the guy ahead doesnt make an error. Was interesting with the 2 cars strengths and weaknesses as I would gain in some spots but lose in others.

The Mclaren had the torque and extra HP coming out of the corner but the 458 had more traction mid corner and exit. Under brakes I had the ferrari covered in most parts too so it was a strange combination. A couple times when I had the lead we went side by side through the first few turns and Guy had the inside into 3 getting the initial jump on me with better traction but then the Mclaren would pull a few car lengths ahead.

Thats the one thing I really like about AC is that cars that can run a very similar pace even though Mclaren was about .5 quicker here on a good lap they did it quite differently.

Pretty much only on screen apps other then that I am using is session info to give time left. But this can be configured pretty much as you like and has no effect on game performance. Anyone running SLI sometimes has issues with on screen apps killing performance, not sure if this is still the case as I have just been running this mostly.

It also has basic telemetry but I really haven't used that much just use the OSD in this config Showing pretty much all the info I need. You can set it up in many ways and completely customize the display data.

Sounds interesting I dont think I have really taken much notice on the actual pace difference of these cars but will help mix it up a little.

Will be good if it mixes up a bit in each season and varies cars not just the same thing every week, AC has such a nice varied range of cars and I havent found one I dont like yet even though I may prefer some.

I hope I can make most races but with work I dont have any set 9-5 schedule so can be home most nites but cant be sure about every week if running late or away for a few weeks too.

3735
I did run a few laps to give these a go, very similar laptimes but quite differently achieved so racing should be interesting. Ferrari much better mid corner Mclaren more speed and a real handful to get traction but my laps with minor adjustments were nearly identical. I think the tyres last a little better in the Mclaren suprisingly even though I was pretty much drifting that around the lap. Lost more time in the Ferrari over a few laps.
