I cannot grab the track says quota exceeded for the file. I grabbed a version of EC from RD (I think?) but it doesn't seem to line up with the server. I have tried the install to CM button on the download page on ASClub and it says the same error in CM.

edit - managed to find the file through the season 32 race 4 thread. http://xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=2812.0

Also I might need someone to tell me what settings/options to use with PLP in CM. There are a few things I am not sure about. Use start lights? Penalty values etc.

Does that mean you got the app working now? You don't have to (and in fact shouldn't) change any settings. You just run it, put it wherever you want on the screen, and then just leave it. It basically reports track cuts to the server, as well as showing you a warning when you've cut the track and gained time.

I got the track installed. However the PLP when unzipped (7zip) says "Warnings: There are some data at the end of the payload data", I cannot see the flag icon (I am guessing that is what it is after watching an install vid on youtube) and although the app shows checked in both the CM and AC generic versions I cannot get it to show in the apps selector RHS. Sorry to be a pain.

I am the edit master - Edit - Extracting via 7zip app via start menu instead of right click on file extract to "name of archive" seems to have done the trick. Dropped into AC folder and checked via CM and AC vanilla and the app now show the PLP as selectable in App Manager RHS in game. I will shuddup now.

No worries - with PCs there's a huge amount of ways things can be different or go wrong!

The restrictor is a bit of a bitch, 'cause I didn't win because I was fast, just because I made no mistakes. :(
I'll wear it, though if you guys drive cleaner I'm screwed. :o

Well, the end result is that the field was spread out in front. The guy that wins is the guy that takes the least time, whether it's through pace or consistency. The little bit of restrictor will make it a bit closer. The restrictor will go up and down round to round anyway.

Anyone else getting checksum error on practice server?

Yes - there had been an update to the track. I've updated the server with the latest version from the download link: https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/eastern-creek-raceway.html

Yay, that's the ticket. I'd already reinstalled the track so the server must have still been behind. All good now.
Thanks Wally. I hope to race Tuesday, but I'm not counting on it. Working and travelling don't allow me the time. If I think I can make it I'll register and see you there. :)

Here's my Phillip Island setup, for anyone interested.
Probably more tweakages to come over the weekend......

A lot of testing a lot of changes, mainly ride heights and roll bars, but essentially ended up close to what I had with just minor tweaks.
Will do some more work sometime in the weekend, probably with less Absynthe involved......

Well I think you should have more absinth-fuelled setups because this one feels great!

I think I'm shooting myself in the foot sharing these setups, but anyway.

Latest iteration, softer corner weights counter-balanced with stiffer ARB's.

Thanks for the setups. I'm struggling with both pace and consistency here.

That%u2019s cool of you to share Bach, I know there%u2019d be some goodies in there I%u2019ve yet to learn. I am working on understanding the car and what the tweaks I am making actually do to the balance and feeling. At the end of the season I will download some of the shared sets and see how far off and in the wrong direction I was but for now, like in the real world, I will run my own and not give in to the temptation. Even if it means running last. I like the challenge this car is giving me, although admittedly I am using a guide shared on acc forum about what the various parts of the car mean, wheel rate for example I had never heard of before and my own experience is from r6 and r1 bikes and my latest beast does all the work for me with electronic ohlins not much crosses over, but this is a good fun car for me to learn with and also work on my driving style. Just a noob, dressed as a noob disguised as another noob.

I use a lot of tools (apps) to work on a setup.

Camber Extravaganza for cambers
Car Engineer for spring frequencies and damper ratios
Tyre Pressure Engineer for tyre pressures and roll centre
Suspension Telemetry for ride heights
Wheel Slip for brake balance and diff settings
Wings for centre of pressure (not required in these).

Once I have these parameters within Milliken recommendations, I will start to work on feel, (which is basically only toes, as that's all that's left).

In that sense I'm more engineer than driver.....

Post by: Sin on July 04, 2021, 04:29:11 PM
Oh wow, that is pretty cool. I will have a look at the car engineer one, I have trouble with spring rates, I kind of guess based on the weight of the car as listed. Cheers though all the help I can get is appreciated, I just don't want to take other peoples sets purely to help myself understand what I am changing. I have gone in the wrong direction many times already at both PI and Eastern Creek but was able to do it incrementally and save it as I go so I can start to understand the different systems. Hoping it will help me as I progress into the faster cars. In the past I have just relied on the good will of others to jump in and go, Live for Speed was good for sharing the sets in game and between team mates and competitors. There was a gent here at XGN early LFS S2 days who was in the navy who was an absolute guru at setting up gearbox ratio's. I am surprised he helped me being army.
I was struggling with the balance of the car between turns 4 and 5 and turns 9 - 11. I will be on to praccy tonight. I had a bad few days, I was triggered doing some stuff for the XDF crew checking out ARMA 3 mod with/for them and needed a few days to chill out. I don't usually suffer from panic attacks but this one wrote me off. The sound effects in that game are absolutely spot on in a two way range, and I can't be apart of that so I'm going to stick to enjoying the peaceful side over here.

I am getting a checksum error trying to get on the server. The only thing I have changed since Thursday is adding the inmersive filter. Would that cause it?

Checksum is either car or track. I had to redownload the track as I had an older version

Through content manager I did reinstall both but still happening. I will delete both first then try reinstall. When I go to content, cars, select the formula ford then click on setups the setup files I have made for EC has an orange triangle but not the ones i created for last round. I also noticed these setup files don't have a final gear ratio selected but even when I select one of the two options it stays orange.

Wally can check the logs and see what it is exactly but I'd guess the track as the car hasn't changed since last week.

I don't use content manager to install tracks and I always delete the old track folder completely as sometimes leftover files can cause issues.

Thanks Joe, I must have broken something playing with the shaders or filters maybe. I am reinstalling the whole thing.

It must be the track somehow. I'd check that the track actually ended up in assettocorsa/conent/tracks/eastern_creek etc

Delete track from AC install.
Go to download link.
Click on "install" rather than "download".
Let CM install track.

I’ve tried that and delete/manually extract, same error. I even reinstalled Ac and cm. I won’t be on tonight, I wasn’t able to sleep last night cuz remote working and time zone difference was hoping to crash today but nope. I think I will just call it here, I’m studying, + this working from home but for stuff elsewhere and school holidays I am maxed out. Good luck for rest of season gents, appreciate the guidance re setups and patience with my driving backwards through hairpins. ✌️

That's a nuisance. There's no more tracks from that website in the season, so no more download quotas.

No worries Wally, and thanks AB for the offer. As you can probably tell I had done no practice (as usual) so was going to be off the pace anyway.

Bring on next week. ;)

I thought my car felt alright in my practice, but on the night it was quite unstable. I spun several times, often while downshifting in the slowest corners, and that final corner sequence gave me the heebee geebees. I did try Bach's setup, but it didn't click for me, but I should probably try to adjust my overdriving style to suit his setup.

Good to have some pace and consistency again, but no match for Deitmar's pace. I think Bacc would have been a lot closer to me without his restrictor.

I also went the Bacchulum route which was very different to my first set up.  Biggest difference is the engine braking, it like pulling on the rear brakes when you lift off, and can lead to lockups/spins!
My original setup had it right down however I was quicker with Bacchulum's but felt more on the edge.  I also was slower on race night for some reason, although I did my fastest lap on the last lap of the last race . . nice time to finally find some pace  ::) ::)

I used fairly large 'blips' on my downshifts to aid stability, adjusting the engine braking would also work, but could compromise overall braking efficiency.

I have some ideas to help the stability in heave (braking/throttle).
I'll be testing them on the weekend. ;)

These are nicely matched cars with eastern creek, and there are lots of little details in the track that help extract an extra tenth here or there, such as a curb or subtle camber, which keeps it fun

Good racing all, and nice dicing with you in race 3 Joe
