Rob Roy Hillclimb 2015 « on: September 27, 2015, 06:26:38 PM » Well it was time for a run at the Rob Roy hill climb, great day, weather was fantastic and we all got 4 runs after orientation, no timing.Glen73 took his newly acquired Jag for it's first outing for some sorting out and I took my old boy, the FJ again. Thanks to Glen73 for some in car footage. « Last Edit: September 27, 2015, 06:31:42 PM by Flattop » Logged "I refuse to be what you call normal." Much prefer your setup. « Last Edit: September 28, 2015, 08:09:40 AM by rob » Logged Phil.8 RestrictedRacing Hero Member Posts: 4158 Karma: 62 Δ8 Re: Rob Roy Hillclimb 2015 « Reply #2 on: September 27, 2015, 09:57:22 PM » that is cool Logged The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Glen73 Administrator Full Member Posts: 898 Karma: 32 Re: Rob Roy Hillclimb 2015 « Reply #3 on: September 28, 2015, 09:33:38 AM » Quote from: rob on September 27, 2015, 08:29:37 PMGreat stuff Bruce, looks like good fun.The hill climb track we have up here in Brisbane is at Mt Cotton and it is treacherous by comparison. Much prefer your setup.Great weather, good company and really laid back atmosphere. I think the track was built in the 1930's (one of only three purpose built hill climbs in the world at the time) so the 700 meters was probably quite adequate for the cars in mind, For today's cars it is quite a short track but you can still get a feel for what the car wants to do. My starts were terrible with the single spinner diff. I have a LSD that will be going in next and a rear HQ roll bar to fit as well. Certainly had plenty (too much on this occasion) off the line, I think you carried a bit of mud off the park up area each time too, and not being allowed to "clean the tyres" didn't help you.Was a good day, good company, really nice family atmosphere. I have been invited to run in the Historics there in November, so now need to carb work and check the calendar versus Club Sprint day at Phillip Island. Logged "I refuse to be what you call normal." There is next to no margin for error.Just a bit of trivia, back in the 70's I saw Peter Holinger (before he became famous for making his awesome gearboxes) compete in a round of the Aust Hillclimb Championships there. He was up against a number of F5000 beasties in his home made twin engined VW hillclimb special. That thing annihilated all comers.
